  1. I wonder how many weeks of streching out will it take Bmac to go the 5 necessary to be a starter. O RLY Ozzie.
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 06:02 PM) How are we unsure about his defense? He can sleepwalk his way to better defense than half the SS in the league. Why are we worried about his contract? This team will have a $100M payroll next year. We don't really have much need to shed players who are still productive (yes Uribe is productive) and relatively cheap. Uribe has walked 13 times this season, one was intentional. He's been brutal, and hasn't responded to coaching. BUT...Uribe walked 15 times in September and October last year, which just happened to correspond to the addition of a leg kick at the prompting of Frank Thomas and Walt Hriniak. I think the Sox bear some responsibility for not attempting to get Uribe the coaching that he apparently responds to. Whatever salary, or pride that has to be swallowed, to hire on Mr. Hriniak will end up being less of a cost than finding a replacement for Uribe, and trading him when his value is at it's lowest. Greg was quoted as saying that the leg kick was a red herring, and that it really didnt fix anything. And that Uribe adopting a spread stance like Pablo would solve all of his problems. The minute they ditched the leg kick Uribe became Taz again. Hrniak would be a welcome addition to our coaching lineup. I think getting some of our hitters specifically our younger hitters who have a hard time putting good wood on the ball constantly would be greatly helped by Walt. He preaches contact and a level swing. I think if Walt was here in say April, I dont know if Brian would of had the terrible start to this season. Greg's offensive methodlogy is good for one thing, hitting home runs in large quantities. However it is not good for grinding it out and beating tough pitchers who dont give up the dong a lot. We need another voice to help our hitters put the wood on the ball more than just sitting up there and taking full home run cuts when all we need is a single. I say ditch Walker, hire someone who preaches this methodology, and bring Hrniak as a special consultant to work with Uribe and some of our other youngers hitters.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) Man after the way B-Mac pitched tonight I am so glad we didn't have him in the rotation. It would have killed our playoff chances. It will take him at least 4 months to stretch himself out to make a start anyways. Wait you mean he was able to go 5. How is that possible.
  4. When Cotts masters more than say a pitch and a half then he can think about more than being a middle relief guy.
  5. My 2006 Playoff tickets arrived via DHL today. Now after looking at them, I really want to throw up. I still remember standing up against the screen in game one of the ALDS nervous about the offense and hoping we would put up the runs. After the first inning I they answered my worries. It was warm and I was wearing shorts. A few weeks later I was in my winter jacket, and a plastic temporary raincoat on, freezing my ass off in the rain, watching a world series I never thought I would ever be able to see in my wildest dreams. I got to watch Konerko hit a grand slam, and then Pods hit a walk off. And now a year later the happiness of all that, is now replaced with sadness of what could of been. Hopefully KW and the sox can right this and we can get back to the dance, because I like a lot of you got a taste for whitesox playoff baseball. I want another soxtober.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) Ozzie has already said he'll play the regular starters the rest of the year, as they have salary bonuses to still play for. Ozzie Baker is in the house.
  7. At what point do we actually get to see the kids play for the rest of the season. I dont need to see Pods again, ever. Lets see what Fields and Sweeney can do.
  8. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) Tim Kurkjian also said he spoke to a source close to the Whitesox and said that they really miss Rowand because of the enthusiasm he brought to the clubhouse and also Carl Everett because last year he would come in the clubhouse and if the players were watching tv before the games, he would shut the tv's off and say "alright guys no tv, we have to concentrate and get ready to win a ballgame today". Maybe Carl was right at the beginning of the year when he said we have no vocal leader that will take charge in the clubhouse. Just something to think about. All I know these guys are making way too much money, to not at least bring 100% to the remaining games. I could understand if they were all ready eliminated, but they aren't. And although it would take a miracle to make the playoffs, they are still in it, and a win last night would have cut the lead to 4.5 with 9 to go. But these guys have mailed it in already. It just really is disgusting and a shame. The fans supported this team and it just laid down!!! The manager is the one who should be turning off the TV and telling the guys to focus, not the players. The leader should be Ozzie, not any player.
  9. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) Hopefully during the offseason the White Sox will regain the spirit of 2005. If by spirit you mean to fire the windmill that sends runners to their demise, and the hitting coach that lets our O die.
  10. The question is, can we possible man up and get some hits off of Cy Meche tomorow night.
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) speaking of extremely hot wives that love the sox http://forums.di.fm/member.php?u=33561 Amen brother...!!! & we wont win again consistently until we find those type of players again! Yup we are losing this year because of a bad 3 hold hitting DH, who was so bad he got lifted from the 3 hole spot a week before the playoffs started. And then Rowand, the stats prove you wrong, but your love of him in your mind proves you right.
  12. Jerry Owens in CF. Ozzie is getting his sneak peak of his leadoff guy, who cant hit his way out of a paper bag, has no arm, and wouldnt start on 99% of the teams. Ozze cant wait to emasculate the offense next year in the name of speed. Its one thing to get a fast guy who has a nice line drive swing, takes pitches, and maybe can swipe a base or two. But he will go for the guy who cant hit, is fast, but never gets on, and is basically a paper tiger up at the top of the lineup.
  13. QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) Is there a reason why Ozzie sent vasquez back in with 100+ pitches and then watched him load the bases, without pulling him? magic 8 ball is on the fritz.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) We all know the season is over...but don't you think these players would have at least a little urgency tonight knowing that their season's not over, and the Twins/Tigers lost? Fathom they are urgent, urgently trying to hit some cars on the dan ryan with their ruthian swings.
  15. Here comes Neal to make sure that all the inherited runners score. Uribe has shat all over this team tonight with his D.
  16. Just to show you how rotten our offense has been. Our team is 19th in all of baseball in September in scoring runs.
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) Well a nice outing again by Vazquez. He deserved much better in terms of run support. Our pitching has been there for the last month. However our bats are sleeping. SSSHHHHHH Remember this team will take off the minute the pitching comes around.
  18. Uribe is throwing some leather tonight. First he drops a ball that leads to the first run, then Uribe is so worried about bailing he misses the bag. Can he be benched already.
  19. Dont any of our hitters attempt to do anything but jack the ball.
  20. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) Does anyone else hate Uribe's bat toss every time he hits a can of corn to the OF? Because in his mind he thinks he went Profundo. Nice to see another pile of dung shutting down our team. The only thing that this corpseball hopefully will acomplish is the final nail in the coffin for our poor hitting coach.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) between marte & iguchi? my lord we need help..... so if minnesota or detroits plane goes down were in? No a team made up of the Rochester team will be wearing the Twins uniforms and will be playing the Yanks in the first round.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) that isnt a crayon...its your lipstick...red doesnt look good on you.... Thank you for bringing me back to 8th grade and the fond memories of demasculating ad hominem humor.
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) since you arent able to have a memory here we go one more time: take notes please for gods sake! YOU RESPECT YOUR WS CHAMPION PLAYERS BY KEEPING THEM! AT LEAST THE MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS! Can I borrow the Crayon you are using. Damn KW for not keeping Timo, Willie, Marte, Viz, and El Duque. If El Duque was our 5th starter he would have like 30 wins.
