The reason we are not going to the playoffs this year, will not be because out pitching s*** the bed. Even though that is the popular belief. It will be because our offense died at the ASB and stop hititng and scoring runs. -

Paulie pull baseball and his .179BA against Zito getting worked over. Uribe the 2nd most worthless hitter has a .077BA against Zito, however Ozzie who needs offense from the 9 hole hitter puts him in there to get worked over. Rotten hitting. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) He has a shot to be. But so do a lot of guys. Liriano has a shot to be better than Johan while healthy, Contreras has a shot to be better than Johan when 100% healthy, Harden, etc. Johan has been so great not only because he's a great pitcher, but because for 3 straight years he's been constantly healthy Harden couldnt hold Johans jock. Harden can throw harder, and that is about it. If both were 100% healthy I would take Johan as my first pick overall. Now here is the part of our lineup where rallys go to die. -

We have a pitcher on the Oakland side that can barely throw strikes and we are in a 2-1 game. Because our pull monkeys cant help themselves. -

The comment that Harden when healthy is the best pitcher in the american league is conjecture and bulls***. -

Sandy failed with RISP and less than 2 outs, and now his great D helps a run cross the plate. Meanwhile we are barely scraping by in the run scoring department. Maybe we can tell Ozzie if they win we will buy him a 6 pack. -

Being a tough out, it would be nice if the sox hitters knew how to be a tough out. -

A guy has a ton of walks in the first 2 innings and we get him out of it by impatience and poor ABs. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Why don't we give Cintron a chance to provide a spark to our offense? Because Uribes .230ish BA is so much better than Andersons .230ish BA. -

So lets figure out how many hits are we going to have before the 5th inning. I am going with 2. -

Thome vs Zitos curveball. Lets see if the corpseball offense can give a little thrill today, or are they going to get mowed down crazy like. Zito has a 9+ era in his last couple of starts and has been terrible at home. Which means we will have a hit or 2 by the 5th inning and he will have half a dozen Ks on our team. Just f***ing hit the ball. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) He'll keep threatening that he'll quit. Hopefully the door will hit him on the way out. I can't believe that after a week in which we consistently saw no hustle or intensity on key plays from guys like Pods, AJP, and Dye, Ozzie finally decided to snap and it was due to a lack of alcohol in the clubhouse. And the fact that he scapegoats our rookie CF for his lack of offense, and then decides to play a SS that has been horrible all year long, a LF that wouldnt start on the Royals. This is a good ole boys network going on here. Cotts is our worst reliever, yet for whatever reason of insanity he has the most appearances.

When I went from throwing 88-90 in my junior year of college to low 80s I also thought that it was going to magically come back, because I threw that hard before. Then I had an MRI, and so ended my pitching career.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) He's just trying to fire up Anderson and give Mack some confidence out there. Uribe and Podsednik are both vets that play better if their manager just keeps sending them out there day after day even if they suck, the second he says something negative about either of them, they'll likely lose all confidence and become bad players. Ozzie is just saying the same damn things he's been saying all year because he doesn't want his team to panic, if that means talking about how bad Anderson is every day to the press and sending a corner OF out to CF each night then so be it. The last thing he needs is a team with a sense of urgency. I am going to spend the money on the weekend package for soxfest just to get downtown for a weekend, and so I can ask a question at the Q&A session. I have to ask if Ozzie lost his goddamn mind. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) But what is he bitter about? What did Brian do? Or is it that Ozzie loved Rowand and is holding a grudge against Brian for his taking his spot? Kid remember last year. We had Pods go down, we needed offense deperately. And Gload was rocking the world down in AAA. He decides to play Timo as his DH, and LF, and 1st baseman. Because putting a guy hitting a buck fifty makes us a better team. I remember watching the Yankee Sox series in Yankee stadium and seeing Timo Perez leading off at DH. Now why can Timo who is slow, and cant hit lead off. Yet we cant put Mack in LF and leadoff. This is why Joe Nossek left this team after Ozzie got hired. I am sure he saw crazy crap on the horizon and decided to get off this bus before he went nuts on the bench.
-
Ozzie in 2006 = Tony Pena past 2003. The crazy believe shirts and all that jazz worked for one year. Then the next year, his crazy pitching moves, silly lineups, and wierd crap killed him there. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) Did Brian sleep with one of Ozzie's sons or something? Why does he have such a disliking for him? Because our manager is a child, a bitter selfish child.
-
Why is Uribe and his sub 200 hitting for the last month in the lineup then. Why isnt Cintron in there. Why is prancer out in LF, if we are worried about anything. Ozzie is full of s***, the sooner he goes bye bye, the better. Take Walker and Cora with him.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) Ozzie threw a fit because there wasn't any beer allowed in the clubhouse after the game. I'm sorry, but there is a hell of a lot more important things to worry about besides that s***. If all they want to do is party, screw 'em. I mean, fine, have a beer, but to throw a fit about it because you can't, tells me that they are worried about the wrong things. How far of a lease does everyone want to give our manager. No sense of urgency.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) i don't think he's handled the bullpen well this year. i didn't like how he mixed the lineups this year. i didn't like how he mixed the lineups in 05'. i do like how he managed/told KW what players he wanted on the team in 05. we won the world series in 05. i would definately give him another shot in 06. really, you want ozzie gone? if so, who do you think the sox should replace him with? Well lets start with the told KW the kind of players he wanted/traded for the team. If you remember we had a budget set for that team and Carlos Lee and Paulie were both 8 million dollar players and one of them was going to go. Pretty much we had a salary dump and picked up a speedy leadoff guy. I have a question for you, take the same pitching staff we had last year, and then add the offenses in 2003 and 2004. And do you think Manuel wouldnt of went to the playoffs or won something. We won last year because of lock solid pitching. Lou Pinella, or anyone that can fill out a lineup card that starts the starters 80% of the time, and can make normal pitching changes can do the job. Playing 25% of the starters, experimenting like we are still in Tuscon, and his inability to make changes have cost us more games than we are behind this year.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 01:09 AM) BTW, I didn't see the Mackowiak screw-up. Was it the usual, bad read type play? He dove it went in and out of his mitt. Anderson would of had it though.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 01:09 AM) name someone sorry, but i'm not ready to throw the manager who won us our first world series in like 100 years under the bus Do you think he has done a good job as a tactician/motivator, and manager of the pitching this year.
