White Sox v. Angels, 9/11, Gamethread

Pods just ignites the offense. He gets on, gets over, and gets in. Pitchers fear him when he gets on as he distrupts the pitcher. Then again, that was pre2005 asb Pods and not the shadow prancer that is inhabiting LF this year. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) Is there a problem? If so, I have no problem talking to you about in with PM's. A game thread is no place for it. Hi8is post was dripping with sarcasm. As yours is probably. My sarcasm meter is so off with working 2 shifts at work these past 2 weeks. -

Holy Christ. Paulie hit a low and away pitch to RF. He must of remembered last years ALCS when he banged a few off the RF fence. -

Paulie with a man on, and he is being fed pitches low and away. Lets see if he figures it out. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) Just stay where Scotty and JD were, they will find holes. Tell that to the 3 pull monkeys coming up next inning. Paulie is still trying to figure out why Vlad plays RF. -

QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) karma for the '05 ALCS? f*** Karma. Just hit the ball hard. Dye hit it back up the middle. Thats the approach we need. Just tell the pull trio coming up next inning that this is what we are supposed to do against someone pitching you away away away. -

QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) Its very annoying to have mlb.tv and hear for the last 3 or 4 road series that this is the "vaunted white sox offense," everytime this gets mentioned we score like 2,3 runs. good stuff. Our offense has been crap since the allstar break. We are the 11th best team in scoring runs. We have scored 5 more runs than a 14 million dollar team in the NL. We scored 520 runs in the first half. We have scored 269 so far with 2 weeks to go in the 2nd half. That is the tale of the crappy hitting that our poo poo offense has become in the 2nd half. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) They're just not being consistently tough outs. Swing as hard as you can, just in case you make contact is not a way of being a tough out. Uribe falling over yesterday with men on late in the game still has me vomiting. We had AJ falling over on a 2 strike pitch, and now mr autoout. You cannot tell me that you are trying to make contact when you physically fall to a knee after a breaking pitch is thrown. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) No right handed pitcher has ever beaten the great Rob Mackowiak! EVA! That, and Mack has those pictures... He must of called Timo and had them faxed over. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) It seems like the Sox go for real long stretches without baserunner an awful lot lately. Maybe the toll of having to provide so much offense this season has worn on them. Actually its the ravages of trying to lift and pull on low and away pitches. Our team has failed to adjust to a method of being pitched. The only way that we can get pitchers back to challenging over the plate is either bad control, or to start to hit those low and away pitches with authority up the middle and to right. -

Uribe trying to go yard. The fact that anyone throws him a strike is just plain stupidity on their part. I woudl just bounce a few 59 footers and let his bad mechanics get him out. Another night of getting no hit into the 4th. Thank god we gave Walk a 3 year deal. But to top that off, we gave one to Cora also. 3 more years of poo. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) How many times have we been no-hit thru 3 innings over the last few weeks? Dont worry, they just havent centered the low and away pitch up for the pull shot. -

low and away fed like crazy to our right handed hitters. Crede takes it into right and hits it hard. Now that is the way to beat this kid if he keeps featuring low and away. Hey I thought Ozzie was platooning Sweeney and Anderson, whats with the butcher back in CF. -

How about a line drive swing by someone on our team. Or is that a benchable offense in the hitting coaches eyes. -

QUOTE(cgaudin @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) Let's see....We're playing the Angels who have their backs against the wall and are fighting for their playoff lives. Minnesota plays Oakland who have a cushy 5.5 game lead on the Angels. Detroit plays Texas who are basically out of contention and already playing their farm call-ups for next year. If the Sox don't come through in these six games, it really is over. Oakland has plenty of motivation. Its called not having to face Santana and Liriano in the first round. -
For all of the Anderson hate that we see in the threads, how about some crap for Taz Uribe. Who litterally fell over trying to crush a 2 strike pitch with men on. Its bad enough his swing causes him to be unbalanced. Its another thing when he just falls over look stupid. We either need to get Hrniak to work with Uribe again, or we need to send him goodbye. One other thing, Anderson on low and away fastball has an identical swing and look to Crede circa 2004 on low and away pitches. Its the same stupid swing, the same stupid one handed follow through, the same stupid result. Can we get Greg to get a new approach with teaching hitters how to deal with stuff low and away. Having someone attempt to pull it is completely and utterly stupid. The minute he is fired, hopefully after this year, can we hire someone from another organization that can teach how to have a clean line drive swing. Stop with the lift and pull crap. Dumb

Well thank God our offense has s*** the bed since the first inning. Instead of making the hamburgler work a bit. Nice breaking pitch by bmac.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) Pinch hitting for Uribe sure seems appropriate. f***ing Uribe falls over striking out. Does this guy even have a clue at the plate. Swing for the fence, and pray its down the middle is his method. Can we fly Hrniak out and have him work with Uribe again. I know that Walk doesnt believe that the leg kick worked, but obviously he has no clue how to help him. Anything is worth a try.
