  1. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) The point isn't who would you replace Contreras with, it's that they might've signed their new Jamie Navarro. So you beleive that Contreras just lost it. That he just sucks now. He was the most dominant pitcher for a year, then poof done. You dont buy the injury.
  2. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) Three years is a LONG time for a pitcher as "experienced" as Contreras. Williams was thinking more with his hear than his head which is somewhat understandable given the World Series. So what do you suggest, a 1 year contract with team options for the next 2 years on the no suckage clause in his contract. Sure Contreras's agent is a moron. He would of done it. So what other ptichers would you have plugged in there after this year. You realize that Freddy fastball is throwing 86 and is in the last year of his contract next year. We might be wise to ditch him. So how much of our rotation do you want to replace, and with what.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) If I said they didn't deserve criticism, you might have a point. It beats being a prick. Its funny when people forget your Q&A session with KW at soxfest.
  4. Happy for him. However if he plays us, I hope he strikes out everytime he is up and we sweep the As.
  5. Anyone that suggests that we shouldnt of signed the Count after his dominant last year, for the money he is making needs therapy. When did you think it was a bad idea to sign him, after his great start this year, or when you were real smart and it was after his DL stint. The guy is hurt, give me a break. I keep forgetting. He just decided that as a perfectly healthy pitcher, he would just mail it in and start sucking. f*** this winning stuff, just lob it up there and see how hard he can hit it.
  6. Ozzies postgame quote I think we played very bad defensively," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "I'm not going to blame Jose." "If you don't get help, you're not going to look good," Guillen said in reference to Contreras' pitching line.
  7. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) Why was the Contreras signing smart? Contreras is hurt. His back has a problem. He went from throwing 97 consistantly to now he cant hit 93 consistantly. He also went from predominantly over the top, using side arm as an out pitch for the sweeping slider and running fastball to predominately a side arm pitcher who doesnt follow through. I am surprised that they havent done a put up or shut up on Jose's health. If you think he is just done then I suggest you review reality. Next spring, poof he will be back to hitting mid 90s with great stuff. Back injuries to a pitcher, epsecially a power pitcher can just shut them down.
  8. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) Who are you? Welcome to Soxtalk. Obviously this is your first time here if you ask that question.
  9. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) It was not in place last year, you're wrong. At the end of last year they were obligated to 2 years of Contreras and Garland. Today, they are obligated to 8 years od Contreras, Garland, and Vazquez. Not too mention relinquishing a very good prospect in Chris Young to get Vazquez. Oh sweet god. Garland was a smart signing. So was contreras. I didnt like the Vazquez thing, not because of keeping Chris Young but it was to flip Chris Young for something better than Vaz. The only thing I wish KW did at the break was to pick up Brady Clark as a 4th OF to platoon in LF and provide a real backup for Anderson in CF instead of having to use a corner OF in center all the time.
  10. QUOTE(Dan @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) are you serious?!!? over the travesty and disgrace that is Ed Farmer?!! If I was offered a lifetime of listening to PFB or Farmer. Farmer would be like listening to heaven, and PFB would like I was sentenced to the 9th level of hell. PFB is satan stepping on your balls, and smiling at you telling you the pain is just confidence.
  11. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) Look at the starters' ERA this year. Are you saying Cintron should never start at SS? Come on you're smarter than that .... Do you think that the opening day starting lineup should play as a group more than say 25% of the time. If you think that defense means nothing then sure, Cintron and Mack can platoon as much as we want to.
  12. QUOTE(SoCalSouthSider59 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Tsk, Tsk........ ? ?
  13. QUOTE(Dan @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) who's worse, Rongey or PFB as you guys call him, the Farmer/Singleton connection or flat out DJ being himself? PFB wins for his stupid silly comments.
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) I honestly don't know how you guys can listen. Well.. I know 71 does it to try to get on and make him look like an ass. Steff I listen now just to hear the callers call in. The season ticket holders especially the older ones that call in are the best. They tear into PFB right away.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) I only hear him about once every two weeks, but every single potentially negative question is turned into a "matter of confidence for the player, and that's the only way he's going to overcome it and produce the rest of the season". When Ozzie plays Mackowiak in Game 160 vs the Twins, I wonder if he'll still say the same reason. Greg Walker and PFB have restraining orders against you. Its not Greg on his own. Its a a hiting philosophy we have had since 2000. We have fired guys, and have hired their apprentices in the minors who preach the same thing and then are shocked that nothing has changed. For years the same exact hole in every hitter that has come through our organization is still there. When they fire coaches, they should go outside of the organization. Hiring Walker was just putting a different physical mug on the same batting coach they just fired.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) Someone call and ask him to pass the pipe. I havent made it past the screener on 2 ocassions. LOL
  17. Now according to PFB, the sox team is just a playoff team. They play crappy in the regular season, and just switch flip they will become world beaters.
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) I do believe he has a script to read from. He just repeats the same crapola after every game regardless of the outcome. He's a Craftsman product of the finest quality. Steff Brian Dolgin was a homer, but this guy takes the cake.
  19. QUOTE(Dan @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) ok im lost wtf is PFB This should explain it. Pink Fuzzy Bunny
  20. Someone calls ups and says that Pods lost some steps. PFB says no, its not that its that he doesnt get on base. PFB do you even watch the games.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) Since the ASB, how many games better are the Sox than the Royals? Someone needs to ask Ozzie in the postgame., Ozzie what exactly are you resting your starters for, Venezuelean winter league? QUOTE(Dan @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) hey the sonuvab**** has given me some $50 gift certificates before so hes ok in my book! That means you either puzzled him with a question, or you agreed with him. Its his distraction for someone asking him a question that he doesnt want to answer. Or its a reward for agreeing with him. Point on, some caller just asked why Mack is out in CF, PFB gave him the Skype caller of the show, and then want on another tangent that wasnt part of the original question. I think he studies Tai Chi, because he loves to misdirect direct action.
  22. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) Schilling will miss his start Monday vs the Sox, and Papelbon left in the 9th tonight due to a shoulder injury. Ortiz will be back but also no Jon Lester We cant beat Runnynose Hernadez. You can spin the poop as much as you want, it still smells. If we cant beat the Royals, I dont feel good against a team that it took 19 innings to avoid a sweep at home to. I dont care how bad they are playing.
  23. QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) PFB JUST GOT OWNED BY A DOCTOR ON THE POSTGAME SHOW. Caller: Contreras has an injured back and he's dropping down because it relieves tension on his lower back. PFB: I imagine dropping down causes more pain on his back than throwing over-the-top. Caller: NOPE. NOPE. PFB: What? What are you, a doctor? Caller: Yes, actually I am. Throwing over-the-top causes more torque on the lower back than dropping down. LOL
  24. Record in our division. Last year we beat the living crap out of our division. This year, we are barely above 500. We are barely above 500 against the royals for the love of god.
  25. PFB is showing that he is not smart. PFB doesnt realize that dropping down helps with pressure on the back. He thinks that Contreras is just going through a rough patch here. Rongey =
