  1. Solo dong, again everyone swinging for the fences eventually one will connect.
  2. Neal Cotts is up. Nice choice ozzie. If politte was still here Ozzie would be using him as option 1A and Cotts 1B.
  3. I love it when we strike out with crap bounced in the dirt. Take a large long cut on every pitch, dont cheat yourself. The twins hitter would of slapped a 2 strike pitch into play.
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) I was going to try last night but figured I had no shot. I was way to fired up. I got dumped by the screener because I couldnt control myself.
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) I swear if no one in the post game press conference asks why BMac isn't in the rotation every reporter is a puppet. If I get past the screener I will ask it.
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) I don't care if he isn't "stretched out". Put McCarthy in the rotation. If he doesnt put McCarthy in the rotation after tonight. I am purchasing some domains and putting up a fireozzieguillen site.
  7. Wait till the pink fuzzy bunny Chris Rongey spins this pile of dung tonight. I cant wait for the show. Lets see if I can make it past the screener tonight.
  8. Nice f***ing approach by Gooch. Take 2 strikes down the cock. Then swing at s*** coming in low and in. This is what our guys have got to figure out. The fastball down the cock belt high might happen once a game. You are going to get fed one or 2 fastballs, then changes in the dirt. Look change, or think right field. Swinging at change after change after change like someone is throwing you a fastball makes you look like a f***ing 12 year old in the little league seeing a rolling curveball for the first time. Adjust guys, try and shorten your swing, take the ball up the middle or maybe oppo. You do not need to swing for the Dan Ryan on every single f***ing pitch.
  9. QUOTE(Allsox @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) I still have no idea why we didn't see Brandon warming up in the 5th last night. Knowing how Vazquez has had the tendency to flop in the 6th the last 7 starts with the exception of the Toronto game, I dunno why you don't prepare accordingly. The magic 8 ball didnt answer correctly.
  10. QUOTE(jamalmanburg @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:29 PM) now its mackowiak's time to shine... Or K stupidly. Thank God Anderson is watching from the safety of the bench. Johan is scary. He scared the crap out of Ozzie, he has our hitting coach petrified, and some of our guys think we can barely hit him.
  11. QUOTE(Allsox @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) Right on! Castillio, Tyner, Punto all look to put pitches outside of the zone into play. Anything down the middle and they either fly out or ground out harmlessly. Sox gotta attack their punch-n-judy hitters down the middle and nibble the corners on the Twin power hitters. And Brandon just completed 5 1/3 innings. Anybody believe he's starting for Vazquez next week? No because our manager still thinks he sucks. Pinella would be an interesting replacement for Ozzie. He at least would know to pull a pitcher.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) For a guy who needs to be stretched out, McCarthy lasted longer than Contreras. If Ozzie doesnt put him in the rotation, then I cannot wait for the Q&A session at soxfest. Keep going with guys getting shelled and our pitcher of the future sits. Last year he pulled this crap with El Duque. El Duque was out on the DL like usual, Bmac was 2 hitting Boston and Texas then when the 80 year old came back. He went into the rotation. Then he went with that silly piggy back, where El Duque would get rocked and Bmac would shut the team down for the next 4 to 7 innings. It was only when Ozzie saw the Indians come close that he blinked. Ozzie we dont have a 15 game lead to blow. Its time to start bmac. With him and Garland we will give our offense a fighting chance.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) The point you make is exactly why I won't, for one second, start ranting about any "luck" issues this year. Teams create their luck for the most part, and luck occurs when you're playing good baseball and making smart strategical decisions. WHERE ARE OUR BLOOPERS? Take last years pitching staff, and put it on the softball teams of the 2001 through 2004 era and how many division titles we would see instead of the twinks. We have had good overall offenses over the last few years, except for last year. And if our pitching showed up we would of won more division titles. But from s***ting the bed with the 5th starter disaster, to this years crap on wheels we have killed our team.
  14. Ozzie Guillen in 2006 = Tony Pena past 2003. Mad Genius turned into retarded managing and losing your ballclub.
  15. Crede swinging for the fences. At some point we need someone in the minors to teach someone how to have a line drive swing. I suggest we find out every minor league instructor for the twins, and double their salary. Because we have two things in our system. Long looping swings that look like softball hitters, and pitchers who nibble.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:00 PM) Good thing Mackowiak started in CF, otherwise we wouldn't have all this offense. Too bad he couldnt of started in LF and then continue to do so on a nightly basis.
  17. QUOTE(GOD @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) I have a serious question. Who calls the pitch selection, is it Ozzie or the catchers? AJ said on the Mike North show that he and the catchers call the game. They go over a game plan with Coop before to prep but they call it.
  18. Walkers solution for Santana Just pitch a shutout. Pretty much he has given up on scoring a lot of runs on him. We can put up runs against the best closers in the league, the best pitchers in the league, but our management has just given up on cracking Johan. Nice, maybe we can bring Charlotte up and see if they can beat him. Johan is good, but he is not a god. He can be beat. If the Royals and their offense can put a 4 spot up on him we can.
  19. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 01:12 AM) Everything I was gonna say has already been said. Let me just add this: the Twins are a better 'baseball' team than we are. Are we more talented? Without a doubt. Can we hit more HRs? Duh. Besides that, they're better than us in every single aspect of baseball. It's not even close. I get pissed the most with what happens on 2 strikes. A twins batter shortens their stroke up, and tries to make contact, hitting the ball back up the middle or to the opposite field. It has 3 effects, one it raises the pitch count. the more pitches a pitcher throws the more likley they are to make a mistake, and with the ball in plate it has a chance to be fair and for a hit. A Whitesox player with 2 strikes, swing as hard as you can, turn lift and pull. If the ball isnt in your area, take it. Better to walk back to the dugout and prepare for your next homer.
  20. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) This has been said by others on here, but Joey Cora is costing us the pennant. Thanks for killing our momentum tonight, Joe. Geez have a clue!!!!!!! Cora and Guillen are killing this team this year. If you are 90 in a walker, and havent hit third yet, He will send you. Because it takes a perfect throw and a perfect exchange, and a perfect patience to wait for you to get tagged out. Cora was the guy on the Boers and Bernstein show saying that with a man on first and 3rd and Konerko on third. That even with the men up trying to cut off the run, Konerko should go on contact. Konerko was tagged off trying to get back to third on a fast grounder to third. The minute he said that I knew he lost all sense of reality. You dont send your player on contact with the infield in, and less than 2 outs on a hard grounder to the third baseman. Konerko has no speed. Guillen still has no clue how to manage a pitching staff.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 12:54 AM) BTW...may I recommend moving Gload into the #2 hole in the order, and putting Iguchi 7th in the lineup. I think Ozzie needs to realize that Cotts cannot get lefties out, just like Marte last year couldnt get lefties out. Why is he option A out of the pen.
  22. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) McCarthy is long relief. We haven't needed long relief for awhile now. But, none of the relief corp (except Jenks) has been that consistent either. Cotts and BMac equal at lest one homer given up per appearance. Brandon is your bridge to your backend. Since the allstar break Brandon 3.24 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 3 homers, 8.10ks/9 innings 3.86 ERA, .096 WHIP in August Neal 6.23 ERA, 2.62 WHIP, 3 homers, 6ks/9 innings 8.10 ERA, 2.85 WHIP in August Brandon is not mop up, it should be Cotts and his pathetic numbers.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) Some of the guys who actually did damage against Santana were Ordonez and Rowand, and that's cause they would drive the ball to the opposite field against him. BA hit well against him last time, because he went to right. Gooch goes to right so much he gets some good wood on the ball against him. But the pull-o-matic paulie swings for the fences guessing fastball on every pitch. If santana is dumb enough to throw a fastball he may hit it out. But he will get a steady diet of changes in the dirt.
  24. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) Worse, I could start thinking like Ozzie... Ozzie must be in groundhog day. He thinks everyday is the first day at Tuscon, split squad game. Lets start 70% of my starters today. Then lets get Cotts some work in the 6th. Cant use bmac he is throwing the B game over in Surprise.
  25. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) Anyone believe opposing teams/fans make those assumptions towards our starting pitchers? Tomorrow, they have to defeat Santana. I don't care how difficult it is. Make it happen. More than deciding the series and affecting wild-card position, defeating Santana (legitimately-- that means more than 2 runs and scraping it out) would be beneficial for our psyche entering the last series of the season. You know he'll be there, ready to face us. The problem Flash is how our Offense hits in the 2nd half year in and year out. At the point the temps heat up at Coors East, our guys stop hitting and start with a lift and pull thing going on. When we face a good pitcher who has a good changeup we are meat. We will go up there like blind robots swinging for the fences, trying to guess which one of the 2 pitches Santana will throw against us. Konerko didnt see a fastball last game and looked stupid swinging at changeups in the dirt. Other teams put up some sort of offensive attack. There is no reason that he has an under 2 ERA against us in the last 2 years. Outside of us helping him with our attack. 2 strikes, swing for the fence K.
