  1. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) I was prepared to lose one game against the Royals, and I figured it was Vazquez. Honestly, that loss did not bother me that much. Did you really think that Hernandez and his 8 ERA would shut us down at home and go deep into the game. I mean if we lost 6-4 or something its understandable, Vaz put us in a hole. But when we lose 4-2 and we struggle to hit a crappy pitcher its pretty sad. I didnt think we would lose a game to the Royals when we beat Redman in game one.
  2. The PFB show is brought to you by skype. Nothing like your postgame show being brought to you by a piece of shareware, written by the same folks at KaZaa. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) Count the number of unacceptable losses in the last 19 games. I count one. Last night was acceptable???? The best O in the game, going against a pitcher with an 8 ERA, and the team they are facing is what 14-40 something on the road.
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) Let me ask you this, Irish: Save the first two weeks after the all-star break, and the brutal showing the last two nights, when exactly has this offense looked like corpseball? I am not saying that this team overall has shown corpseball offense this whole year. But one of the tenants of corpseball was playing like s*** against the worst teams in baseball. That is what I am talking about. We play them like Freddy pitches against them.
  4. The PFB show is pretty funny tonight. someone called up and asked why is ozzie resting so many of his starters. PFBs answer. Well there was a right hander starting. Oh so you start a corner OF in center because he was born with the left appendage as his primary appendage. Awsome.
  5. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) before you guys hit the panic button regarding contention, let's talk about how "flawed" these teams are: 1) the Twins without Liriano (think they are going to Prior him? he will be shut down for the year eventually. They will NOT f*** with this this year, I guarantee you) 2) the Red Sox who suddenly can't field a major league rotation. Southside, were we ever in the lead for the wild card that year? And we are healthy and playing an inferior team at home. We should be putting distance between us and someone. Boston and Detroit played each other. We should of stretched it out against one of them. The wild card never was part of our equation. I am talking about how our team dealt with a playoff hunt before. We ran and played well before the ASB. Then had problems in the 2nd half keeping consistant. Playing pretty much 500 ball, and playing poor against bad teams. We are healthy, our biggest wild card opponents have a major injury in their rotation, and the other one has been playing poor. How many games are we up with our great healthy team.
  6. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) I know our offense was near the top most of those years. I don't remember any of those teams hitting like this team has with RISP, though. And most certainly none of those teams had the comeback ability of this team. The offense has been simply pathetic -- the last two nights. That's all I'm saying here. This offense is not like the '01-'04 offenses. We are hitting .316 this year with RISP. But remember we didnt drop off that much during those corpseball years. In 04 and in 02 we were 3rd in all of baseball with scoring runs. In 04 we hit .291 with RISP In 03 we hit .281 with RISP In 02 we hit .290 with RISP
  7. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) there are a lot of differences between this year and 2004. For one thing, I'm not sure we were ever 27 games over .500 that year. Sox fans, I'm sure every year from now on when doubt creeps into your mind your tendency is going to be to draw parallels on the most heartbreaking season in recent memory, however, I would always caution you against comparing a team a few games over .500 to a world championship caliber one that has flirted with 30 over, and probably will end up around that number. I compare it to a team that is in a playoff fight, chasing a team ahead of them, trying to make up ground while that team is playing a tough opponent while we drop games to the worst team in our division. That is the parallels to previous seasons. We were within a few games of the twinks, they started a bad streak and we couldnt take advantage of it because our pitching was inconsistant, and our offense would go to sleep vs the worst teams in baseball. The situation is similiar no matter where the records are.
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) Yes, we've struggled with the Royals. It makes no sense. Didn't the D-rays own the Yankees last year? I still don't buy the corpseball crap. take a look our our offense and how they ranked in baseball in those years. Our team has always been near the top in the league in homers, and run production. Last year was the first year in a while we took a dump as a team overall.
  9. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) hence the phrase that team... In 04 we were fighting with the twinks for the division, and we had a hard time beating the worst team in baseball the Tigers. Now Ozzie is giving excuses. Jose looked good. And our defense was just inbetween.
  10. 19-45 on the road vs one of the best home records. We are not in the lead with a 15 game cushion.
  11. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) Do corpseball teams have as many comebacks, many of them miraculous, as this team has had this year? I don't see how anybody can have any complaints about the offense. Every team has games, or maybe a week, where they look flat offensively. The corpseball teams would take a dump when they played a poor team. They would play uninterested and swing for the fences and have multiple defensive gaps, and poor situation hitting against bad teams. In 2004 we had a hard time beating the crappy Tigers. They were on a record losing streak and we were playing game for game with them.
  12. Pablo and his light frame swinging for the fences. Flies out to CF on the first pitch. Now why did he come into the game instead of Anderson again.
  13. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) Great, now we get to hear about how we made a comeback Its what the PFB will use as a cornerstone of his post game show tonight.
  14. Well there is that home run that they have been feverishly have been trying for since AB number 1 tonight. Swing for the fences on every swing and eventually the KC royals will let you hit one.
  15. I have finally figured it out. The 2006 whitesox are the Freddy Garcia of teams. They only play good when they consider the competition good enough to show up.
  16. Crede is going for the dong right here. He did the typical step in the bucket, throw your bat the the low and away pitch popup to 2nd. Classic Corpseball there.
  17. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) but our offense played well against roy halladay, the yankee bullpen and verlander and the offensive approach improved somewhat (but seems to have reverted back now) When we face good pitching our hitters try to hit whats there. They hit line drives, they think back up the middle and oppo. They take pitches. When we face a crappy pitcher, our guys eyes light up, they dip the back shoulder and try to let it fly.
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) ...you realize that if he didn't use the pen, half the fan base would complain that he gave up during a critical series, don't you? We gave up when we put an outfield of Pods, Mackowiak and Gload out there. Balls can find the holes with that trio out there. Our manager thinks that we are playing split squad games in Tuscon still.
  19. So the soundbites from the team stating that they would play KC tough because they knew what was at stake was conjecture and bulls***.
  20. They need to seriously develop a new pitch for ol Neal. The fastball 90% of the time, and then slow pitch that doesnt break doesnt cut it.
  21. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) Funny thing is our 8 and 9 hitters have been on fire for a while now. I have no idea why they weren't playing tonight. Ozzie needs to keep his bench in game shape for the Venezuelian winter league.
  22. How much evidence does Ozzie need to figure out that Mackowiak is not a CF. Timo was not a 1st baseman nor was he a DH. Pablo is not a 3rd baseman. Nice game here boys. Nothing like a 9 to nothing shallacking by one of the dogs of baseball.
  23. Mack is 0-2 with 2 ks. But dont worry, he throws some mean leather in CF tonight.
  24. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) We've sucked pretty bad the last couple games. But I think you're going a little overboard now. You don't lead or almost lead the league in every major offensive catergory if you're not capable of hitting with RISP or using the entire field. We have been near the top of scoring runs, homers and stuff like that before. Our offense from 2001 through 2004 was statistically a great team. Since the asb our team has been trying to hit the dong a bit too much. How many times over the last few weeks have we had a no hitter going into the 4th or 5th inning. How many times have we only had a few hits going into the 5th inning.
