  1. Anderson hit Silva pretty well and he was a sinkerballer, but I forget the young buck needs his rest.
  2. Here we go with the Umpires are against us s***. Hawk give it up or retire. I dont want to constantly listen to how the league, umpires etc are out to get us. Pods should of stopped at 2nd with the thumpers behind us. 1-2-3 inning because our team is dumb.
  3. Pods and his lack of wheels gets tossed at third. Nice hit, dumb running.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) It seriously is amazing. When is someone going to tell Ozzie that you can't keep putting a corner outfielder in CF? Ozzie hasnt figured that out yet. He keeps this platoon going for whatever f***ing reason. Then he keeps forgetting to actually use his bullpen until at least 4 runs have crossed the board in an inning.
  5. QUOTE(shoota @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) The 2006 team is not built on starting pitching and Ozzie's failure to come to this conclusion has costed the Sox victories this year. Of course there's much Ozzie can do to increase the effectiveness of the starting rotation. Like Fathom stated, replacing them with a reliever before the starter surrenders multiple runs in the 6th or 7th inning is one solution. The salary of a player should never dictate his playing time. That's a ridiculous argument because often salaries are not commensurate with performance. If you don't understand that... I could care less that Buerhle started the 7th. But you seen a moon shot get snagged at the fence that the camera man thought was out. Then 2 men get on. Its time to get a fresh arm in there. Unless your pitcher is dominating or has dominated the game, you go with the fresh arm, and a new look to get you out of it. The game was on the line in that inning, and we put it on the shoulders of a contact pitcher who gave up 3 dongs in the game. The manager obviously was worried enough to go stroll to the mound for a chat. The minute the game is about to be blown out, pull your starter. 6 2/3 innings is enough for your starter to go, and you can have your pen keep you in the game for the rest of the night.
  6. Location not velocity matters They are a bit more than 2 to 3 mph off of their radar gun readings. Freddy last year was pounding the zone 91-94 and this year he is more like 86-88. Okay my take is this is a mixed bag. Mark lives by location, deception and movement on his pitches. This year he gets behind, and then leaves the pitch up and gets hurt. Take the same speed of the pitch and move it down a bit and it doesnt get hit over the fence. Now on the other had Freddy is a whole different animal. He has never been a control pitcher. He doesnt have pinpoint control, and hasnt learned how to be a control pitcher. So his transformation is something of a mystery. Where Buerhle has been a control pitcher who has gotten away with guile and cunning, Freddy has been a stuff pitcher who could pound you with a sinking heavy fastball. The fact that they started this, I am a control pitcher with Freddy starting in Spring Training is a bit more revealing that Buerhle losing a few mph off his fastball. Oh and and now the evil Questec is the reason Mark isnt getting the corners. Buehrle pointed to the first-year presence of Quest Tec as a reason for his inability to get calls on the corners. "When Quest Tec is out there and the umpires are getting judged on it, they won't give you the corners," Buehrle said. "It's big for me. I need the corners. I live on the corners."
  7. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 10:14 PM) if we don't make the playoffs, he'll say something ignorant and stupid about a player/management, and he will get canned. I think management's patience with him has run real thin and he's been able to stick around because they were winning. I want to get good seats for the Q&A session at soxfest if we blow this due and have OG still at the helm. He will implode on stage.
  8. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) we went out and get guys like macdougal for a reason. If bmac came in, in the 7th and gave up a few runs, I wouldn't be nearly this upset, cause at least ozzie made some sort of right move. But honestly, it's got to be around 10 games that we've lost this season, due to just leaving the starter in their too long. We won in the playoffs last year in spite of ozzie, basically we didn't give him a chance to screw it up. I think more and more people are beggining to see that. The thing that gets me upset the most is the fact that Ozzie felt the need to go and have a chat with Buerhle. I kept thinking to myself, Ozzie is leaving the mound and Buerhle is still there. Didnt he just say that he realizes that we need to win as many games as we can. That he will have a quick hook for our SP if they get into trouble. Then I remember that we were losing 4-3 going into the 7th inning yesterday, we get into a jam OG comes out, chats with the pitcher leaves and then implosion. Just like on Thursday in KC when he had the same 7th inning chat with Freddy. I wonder what it will take to get him fired this offseason. I am convinced if we had a halfway decent field tactician we could get a few more wins than we have now. This not pulling your pitchers when they are done is getting old.
  9. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) Furious. Absolutely furious. I was at the game and was literally screaming that ozzie take out mark after molina. I was watching bmac warm up for the past inning and knew he was ready. I've seen this happen way too many times over the past 2 years. Ozzie is so worried about his pitcher's stat line that he's costing us games. I haven't been this mad after a sox game in a long while You pull Buerhle the minute trouble starts in the 7th. You go with bmac for the 7th and 8th if you are behind or tied. If you get the lead you go to Mac, Thornton and Jenks. It should be the formula. If we are so worried about the bullpen, then DL Uribe and bring up another arm. Our starters cannot all go into the 7th inning and get wins. Its not 2005.
  10. PFB, the reason for Buerhles problems are confidence problems.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) I had the chance to listen to the PFB take calls on the post game show. Is baseball knowledge not a requirement for his job? The guy keeps repeating stuff that is not only inaccurate, but just stupid. Every single caller disagreed with the way Ozzie handled Buehrle tonight, but the PFB kept repeating the same tired line: "just think how high Buehrle's confidence would be if he got out of that inning". Will someone please ask the PFB how Buehrle's confidence is shot again due to being left out on the mound to implode again? Hawk at least will get on a player from time to time. Mr Smiles and Puppy farts can spin any bad loss into a great opportunity for future winning. The last caller got angry with PFB. It was pretty funny.
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Um, other than 3 bad change-ups, Mark looked fine. He got screwed over big-time in the 7th. Mark should of been pulled before the disaster happened.
  13. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Honestly, why do you listen to the guy if you have that big a problem with him? Its like watching a train wreck.
  14. The pink fuzzy bunnies response to should of Ozzie pulled Buerhle. Rongey "Well if you have to give up this game, to get Buerhle pitching, you do that. It could be a huge inning for the rest of the season for Mark if he got out of it. Who says bmac comes in and gets out of it." Sorry PFB, we dont have the luxury of just throwing games away with a wildcard fight going on. This is not the time to cater to a SPs ego. We needed to win this game. And we needed to win more games.
  15. I cannot wait to hear the post game spin from the Pink Fuzzy Bunny(aka Chris Rongey). He will slurp Ozzie as a genius who didnt make a bad decision. He makes Hawk seem like a pessimist.
  16. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) cintron is so overmatched... Cintron is swinging for the fences. He is doing his best Uribe impersonation right now.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) 97? I think you're looking at a hot gun... 95-96 is reasonable, and Jose this year has been around 92-94. I don't think the difference is as huge as you're making it out to be. But again, the burden of proof is on you to show that championship teams' pitchers suffer the next year. If that was true, I'm almost 100% positive it would be more widespread knowledge... The reason the Count has been down in velocity is more to the point he is dropping down more on facing righties. He was more over the top before his DL stint. Freddy and Buerhle both need MRIs. Its not the stress of last year. Something else has happened. Freddy happened before the season started, because they did this whole PR program in ST on how Freddy is a finese pitcher. So everyone knew something was up. Buerhle was great for most of the year. His location got away about a month ago. He leaves everything up. If he got the ball down more he would be fine. But he leaves his mistakes up, and up on 2-0. They get hit hard. Garland was fine phsyically all year long. His problem at the start of the season was not trusting his pitches. The minute he started throwing strikes he started winning.
  18. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) The thing that really bugs me is that Buehrle was so close to walking off the mound with his second respectable start in a row. I don't even think BMac was warmed up enough yet to come in. Just a pathetic way to lose a game. The long warning track shot previous to the 2 runners getting on was all the warning he should of needed. The fact that he gave up 3 dongs before also should of been a clue.
  19. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) lol. Has anyone heard a crowd deflate quicker? Pretty much the Angels took the Joe Mays how to own the whitesox approach tonight. Constantly go low and away to our right handed hitters. If you have a slider, even better. Our hitters have problems at times going with the pitch. They have been better about it this year, but when you have Paul Konerko pulling a low and away slider into the hole for a hit. When Paulie is on, he hits that pitch to the fence. When the pull monkey team is out there, we dont get hits, we strike out a ton, and we get worked over. We dont adjust. Even the relievers are going low and away on us.
  20. Hopefully Ozzie will learn when to recognize fatigue in a starting pitcher.
  21. We score a 3rd run, on an oppo dong. Nice homer, too bad we gave up the ship in the 7th. We need 3 more.
  22. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) If we're creating a hierarchy of blame here, Buehrle first and foremost deserves the number one position. Yes, Guillen should utilizie his bullpen more. Yes, Guillen should know when to pull starters and forget about giving them opportunities to "gain confidence" or earn victories. But who's on the mound? Who has shown himself incapable of pitching over mistakes? Who gave up the balk? What I've seen here these last few pages is Buehrle escaping criticism. He's pitched absolutely dreadful the last month+. Someone can reply, "his struggles are more of an indication to pull him early," but Buehrle's stigma is eating innings. If he's unable to achieve this distinction, what good is he next season? Or this year? I'm not entirely scapegoating Buehrle. Guillen should have shown less patience when the first two runners were aboard. But I'll never place a managerial decision over the pitcher on the mound -- our 8 million dollar pitcher -- not doing his job. Flash when this is happening with one pitcher who struggles and isnt pulled then you can see this is a problem with the pitcher. But when we have had the last 3 losses all due to being down by a run late in a game, and then 2 guys get on, a conference between the manager and the pitcher happens then implosion. If it happens once, sure, but this is 3 times in 5 games When you get into the 7th inning and you are down by a run, you need to play the percentages. My 9 million dollar pitcher has a near 5 ERA. Is he going to give me the best chance to keep this game close or the fresh arm out of the pen.
  23. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) You probably said this last year too. What'd I miss? Just got home from work. We go into the 7th down 3-2, Buerhle puts 2 men on. After a high monster flyout to the wall that we all thought was out. Ozzie comes out of the dugout, but instead of pulling him has a nice chat. Bases get loaded. Buerhle balks someone in, then implodes. Ozzie should of pulled buerhle the minute the warning track shot was hit, then after the first guy got on, then after the second guy got on, then after he loaded the bases, then after he balked the next run in.
  24. QUOTE(soxunited @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:14 PM) the thing is, the bullpen hasn't exactly been lights out either, look what happened yesterday in Toronto. So what is your suggestion, keep rolling with the starters and pray that the first 100 or so odd games were a fluke.
  25. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) I can't figure out whether I like that or not. Should I be rooting for Detroit or Minny? We will never catch Detroit unless their plane explodes. We do not have the pitching to rattle off a long winning streak right now. And our manager has not clue when to pull them anyways until the damage is done. We have a bunch of 6 inning pitchers. Thats ok if you realize that. But Ozzie still thinks this is 2005.
