  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) I liked it when Kane set JR on fire and didn't do s--- to his body. No explanation, either, for how JR went unhurt, and the storyline died shortly thereafter. I always did prefer ECW. ECW was great.
  2. This kid pitching for the royals has a nice arm. No control around the plate, but a nice arm. If he can control his fastball he might be a good middle reliever, but then again there are a ton of guys with great arms and no control out there.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) The next ball that lands in teh seats i blame on you. Too irish to be bad luck.
  4. Odalis Perez was a nice pickup for the Royals. If he can get his slider over he is a tough pitcher. Farmer was saying that he is now throwing a splitter also. He was had for pretty much nothing also. Buerhle is looking better today. Its the royals though, but this is a good start.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) That's my main problem with his defense. A lot of guys go 1st to 3rd on him, too, for that very reason. A lot of baserunners go first to third on a single. Unless you have an absolute cannon or the guy is slow you cant get that throw on the money for the out. Pods you can criticize for his D. But Anderson and Dye have done a great job this year.
  6. I enjoyed the last batman the most out of all of them. I think Bale did a great job of playing a darker more human Bruce Wayne/Batman. I dont know how Heath Ledger will work out, but I cant wait till this movie comes out. And how the last one ended with the Joker card you had to know what was coming.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:59 AM) Let me bounce something off you regarding Dye's speed. I may be totally off the mark here, because I haven't seen any games in person and I only get to see the occasional game on TV but Dye has always seemed to me to be the type with deceptive speed. In other words, he's actually moving faster than he appears to be because he moves fluidly or apparently effortlessly. Yas, I would break down Dye and his moves on the outfield as such. His ability to move back on a ball is great. He gets great reads, and can pick up the fence well. His ability to move forward is pretty good, some balls drop. But what can you do. I think his only issue is moving to the foul pole to foul pole. He seems to have his problems moving left to right. I would suspect that is a 2 point issue. One being were he positions himself defensively. And the other reason is that with the injury issues with his leg, I am sure the movement left to right is still not the same, nor ever will be. I think that Dye does a great job out in RF. He isnt the fastest guy, but I think with his moves back towards the fence he saves a lot more balls than he ever gives up.
  8. Thank god the weight of the trade deadline is off their collective backs so they can start to play good ball. Brady Clark would of caught that. But Mr. Dergan has a hot wife, is a singles hitter, who cant steal, and cant field. Glad we have him over Clark. Just put fishing Mack in LF and be done with it.
  9. One more thing. Remember everyone this is the royals, a glorified AAAA team. We should dominate them, and leave them aside, like the Tigers do. So if our pitching shuts this team down dont get excited like they have turned the corner. Lets see how they do in the next few series against good teams that can hit. Our pitching needs to dominate the AAAA Royals. If they get rocked against this, yuck.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) 5 year grace period!? There is a team on the northside that doesnt care if their team wins also. They have had almost a 100 year grace period.
  11. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) If Soriano was sent to the Marlins after today, would he have to clear waivers with all AL teams first? He clearly wouldn't do that but he'd clear with all teams below the Marlins in the NL if possible. Nope. The marlins would just have to claim him off of waivers, and then they would make a deal with the nats. The waiver system goes the league the player is in, and if no team claims him, then it moves to the other league.
  12. ESPN AM1000 Update. The Whitesox stood pat at the deadline.
  13. QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Come on Levine! Not even a little drip of Sox news? The whitesox have announced the signing of a prominant sports pyschologist Dr. Ivan Humperlink who will work with Javy to help him get over his phobia with going beyond the 5th inning. Dr. Humperlink believes that after 30 days, he will have Javy beyond the 5th inning or your money back.
  14. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) Alfonso Soriano-OF-Nationals Jul. 31 - 4:23 pm et According to CBS.SportsLine.com's Scott Miller, Alfonso Soriano won't be traded. per roto Hopefully that is true. The idea of the twinks getting him with the 1-2 punch of pitching they have is scary.
  15. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) Brady Clark sucks. Why is everyone so high on him? Because having a corner OF play center once every 3 games sucks also.
  16. QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) Levine, where are you? Too busy doing backflips over the Maddux deal.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) For who? Bombs Away Levine is saying Cesar Isturis
  18. Carroll On Twins' Last Minute Soriano Discussions Via Will Carroll: "The Twins are in rapid-fire discussions with the Nationals regarding Alfonso Soriano. The offers center around pitching, with Matt Garza and Scott Baker the keys. The Twins offered Jason Kubel in the deal in lieu of Garza, but were rebuffed. I'm told that the Twins have informed Torii Hunter that he's being offered around; his option, if declined, would help "pay for" Soriano." We should know within minutes what Jim Bowden ultimately settles for with Soriano. My guess is that the Twins would rather stand pat than part with Garza. I think Kubel and Baker would be a decent, Major League ready bounty for the impending free agent.
  19. QUOTE(champ @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) Okay... Why do some of you think that you have to make a deal. You don't just make a deal because you can. This team is very good already, and good enough to go all the way, there's no reason to risk something unless it's "can't miss". You need to eject the world series DVD. The pitching staff you see out there this year is not the same.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) He is just terrible. The Nady aquisition looked good, and then this. When the cubs work you over for a few years on trades, people take notice.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) Did I just hear that right? Matt Stairs traded to Texas? Great now OG will IBB him to get to Texeria.
  22. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) 670 said we were close to aquiring LaTroy Hawkins. LOL The only way this deal is good, is if we put Bmac in the rotation. bmac in the rotation + insert reliever here > Vaz in the rotation + OG unwilling to pull him after 5
  23. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) HAWK: "I'll tell you what fiesty. Sometimes the best trade is the one that wasn't made. I'll take our chances with our horses." DJ: "I'm right there with you partner." PFB: "I really like the makeup of this team, and I think that the whitesox are ready to real off a 20 game winning streak and OG says that Javy is ready to go 9 innings. They have done it before and they can do it again"
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) And his lackluster attitude. and the fact that he buckles like a belt the minute someone gets a hit past the 5th inning.
