  1. Thank God we pinch ran Mackowiak. I am sure Osuka is spiffitng his pants that he is facing Mackowiak instead of Thome. I love when we neuter our O to get a pinch runner in, with a tie game.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) So have we I believe. The last time we faced him. Unfortunately we arne't playing nearly as well right now. Well when teams dont pound crappy pitchers, those teams are hitting like spiff.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) What can you do? they should of pounded the medicore pitching that started this game. Most teams pound Koronka.
  4. Gload puts a good hit on the ball. No more fishing popups.
  5. This is officially corpseball offense we are seeing here. It fishing arrives every year after the Allstar Break for a few weeks. All you see is people pull everything on the ground, or popping things up. You may see the occasional homer. But this needs to fishing go away quickly. I never saw corpseball coming back this year. Not with all of the 300 hitters. Someone needs to earn their money and get these guys back to hitting line drives.
  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) He has to. He has no CFer if he doesn't. Welcome to our new CF Pods. He is pinch hitting Gload for Anderson.
  7. Did Cy Young start or was it John Koronka. How the fish did we not get to him. Only 4 hits. Does everyone on the team want to be home in October. This is a bad pitcher, how did we not score like 5 runs in the first inning.
  8. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) wasdon, koranaka starting for texas. what do we get? 5 f'n runs in two f'n games combined. The pull monkeys need to relearn not to try and pull and jack the homer everytime at bat. They have resisted that this whole year These last few weeks, its either homer or nothing.
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) Yeah but do you really want to see us become the Yankees and focus on hitting only? If we can replace Pods with someone who can at least hit like an OF then sure go for it. Our pitching can upgrade by sending either Freddy or Vaz off and putting bmac in the rotation. He had a 1.59 ERA down the stretch run last year. Pods right now is a glorified singles hitter who doesnt steal. He gets that nice hit, then sits on first. He cannot steal this year, and cannot bunt. So why again is his speed important. At least Soriano can leave the yard. It gives us one more weapon. Right now with our pitching in the state of dismay it is, we need all the firepower we can possibly get.
  10. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) From SoxMachine: I thought it was interesting, but I don't like the idea of flipping Paulie and Gooch. Konerko grounds into too many double plays for my taste, and I wouldn't want him batting while Podsednik's on first. Konerko does crappy as a 3 hole hitter. Dye did well last year at the end as the 3 hole hitter. But I would be reluctant to taint Dyes great hitting right now.
  11. QUOTE(TLAK @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) A bad night by the opposition starter. Well lucky for us, John Koronko is basically poo who throws lefty. If we cant put up a say, 5 spot on this guy then we should have more batting practice.
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 10:51 AM) I completely agree that the approach of the hitters needs to change but don't you think the pitching is putting us into too many holes, causing the hitters to press? Our staff ERA is miserable, especially the starters. I would like to see Bmac in the rotation with Tracey the back end of the piggy back until Bmac can be stretched out. Freddy traded for something, a reliever or a young pitcher that can be a reliever.
  13. I think the biggest thing we can do to help jump start the offense. Is to back to hitting line drives and stop trying to hit home runs when we have RISP. All I am seeing is either our guys rolling over on an outside pitch, or popping it up. This is what we saw time in and time out from the 2001-2004 whitesox. If they start to keep a level swing, and just try to keep the line moving instead of clearing the bases with one swing we will see better results.
  14. “As soon as they score runs, everybody’s kind of, ‘Oh, we lost already,’æ” Buehrle said. This speaks volumes about their mental state right now.
  15. QUOTE(holly wiggins @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 09:44 AM) Yeah, they should trade Buehrle now. Who the freak does he think he is, letting down the "fans" like this?! I say we teepee his house. Also, no team has ever come from 6.5 back on July 22 to win; and this team definitely doesn't have the tools to do it. I'm giving away the rest of my season tickets, since there's no point even watching the Sox anymore. Get a grip. A pitcher who has been rock-solid for half a decade goes into the worst slump of his career, and you're trashing him? Classy. Whatever his problems are he needs to man the fish up. This team feeds off of starting pitching, and Buerhle needs to get better quickly. The only positive I took from last nights start with Buerhle, is after he got rocked he started running his cutter in on the hands of the RHs and got some Ks. But I am not declaring he has turned the corner until he can do this for an entire game. We have another guy on the staff right now, who looks like Cy Young for 5 innings, then looks like Jimmy from the over 40 league for an inning.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) And morons. People cheering during the Rangers rally in the 6th(or 7th I don't remember which) because the wave was going around the park. Unacceptable. There were a bunch of morons wearing tiger hats cheering on the Rangers in my section.
  17. QUOTE(stretchstretch @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) We need to focus on our box score where we continue game after game to have 3 times as many hits as we do runs (if not worse). Yes pitching has the issues we've beat to death, but fact is our offense is not jumping all over anybody to put the pressure on THEIR pitchers to keep runs down, and THEIR hitters to catchup!! If we can start putting up 3 and 4 spots in the first inning again, with some nice bunting, base stealing, key singles and occasional dinger, pitching just MIGHT have a chance to settle down and reverse the pressure.....IMHO of course Our offense has been there all year long. Offenses go throw periods where it slumps. However our pitching has been crap most of the year. Our team feeds off of starting pitching. How much pressure is on our offense when they see a 5 spot go up in an inning on one of our starters. If our pitching comes around, our offense will be fine. The pitching needs to man up.
  18. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) hopefully we win tomorrow....and everyone else important loses...at least the Yanks lost. The twins won, and I fear them more. Their pitching is a tad bit better than the Ponson lead Yanks.
  19. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 12:48 AM) ya well, if you think about our pitching not putting us in that situation...don't play the what-if game, it will never end. That play had nothing to do with tonights outcome. But saying it was a good throw is a bit myopic. If the ball is hit anywhere beyond I would say, halfway between the infield and the warning track, Pods has no chance to throw a guy out. His arm is absolutely terrible. In all situations, he should get it into the cutoff man, who can deliver a strike. If he does throw someone out on a fly ball deep, its because they fell over on the way into the plate.
  20. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 12:37 AM) you are just plain wrong with Pod's throw. I was there, it was actually a decent throw, and it was middle to deep left field on a semi fast runner. Also it was a line drive which are much harder to gain momentum on, on the throw home. Few people would have gotten him out if any. I was at the game also in section 134. It wasnt a line drive, it was a well hit fly ball. Pods could of settled behind the ball to setup his throw, but he didnt. And he had no fishing chance at all of throwing him out. Hit the cutoff man when you have a noodle arm.
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) Mazzone's done jack with the Baltimore SP's this season regardless. But yes, Coop has fixed some guys like Thornton, but unfortunately more importantly, others like Buerhle and Garcia have gone backwards big time this season, and it may end up costing us a playoff spot when it's all said and done. Soft tossers without location are meat in the majors. Buerhle has had good control, up until about a month ago. Garcias control hasnt been pinpoint his entire career. The fact that he has no velocity means that unless the team is super aggressive, they just wait it out and he will give them the cookie they deserve. Too bad we didnt draft a guy like Garza or Carillo. We keep drafting soft tossers who can barely break a plain of glass. Hopefully this experience with soft tossing freddy and Buerhle without control, will start to get the draft in the right direction.
  22. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) Hawk sure as hell hasn't mentioned his name lately. In the past, he's practically been his cheerleader. Earlier in the season, when a runner was sent and thrown out, the excuse to explain such a decision was, "Cora is one of the best I"ve ever seen at third base. He isn't afraid to push the envelope. Sometimes it doesn't work, more than not it does." Now? Silence. Every outfielder has seemingly adopted strong arms with tremendous accuracy. Well except our LF, I am sure that Kong and AJ would score on that arm. Noodles should just hit the cutoff man and be done with it. The minute I see a nice arch at about 75mph flying past the cutoff man I want to leave my seat and and vomit. Both of my brothers were at this game. One is a cubs fan, and he outside of being an ass had a few good points. He said he finally knew what happened to Wendell Kim. He got some plastic surgery and reappeared on the southside. He also pointed out, that Konerko looks like he just wants to murder every single ball. And he looks tight.
