  1. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) Back somewhat on topic, Rosenthal's latest column has some rumors regarding Milledge and the Mets possibly trading for Zito: http://foxsports.foxnews.com/mlb/story/5796782 I would again just like to point out how insane it is thinking we could get Milledge/Pelfrey for either Vaz or Garcia. Good news is, we could still maybe get a halfway decent package for one of them if the Mets are showing interest in the likes of Miguel Batista. Vazquez would seem a better fit since he could seemingly throw his fastball through a wet paper bag. If we could get Pelfry or Milledge for Freddy or Vaz straight up I would take it. You have one pitcher who has all he tools, but is a knucklehead that implodes and another one who seems to have problems throwing his fastball.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 12:44 AM) If Ozzie really wants to get Mack in the pen, why can't he stick him in LF in place of Podsednik every once in awhile? Did Mack not play leadoff during spring training? The guy has an incredibly high OBP and some good speed along with excellent defense in LF coupled with his above average arm. Seems like a good fit to me. What has changed between Spring Training and now? Ozzie wants to make sure our offense is Marlinized. Have he fast guy up front that creates havoc on the bases. However that guy is no longer on our team. He lost his ability to be a havoc creator when he had a hernia. Now he is a glorified singles hitter, who gets thrown out stealing about 20% of the time. So in reality replacing him with Mack is a good idea that will never get used. Kind of like replacing one of the twin duds in our rotation with bmac.
  3. Everytime I see Ozzie put Mack out in CF I ask myself doesnt he pride himself in having a good defensive team out there, for that is what he preaches. Then I close my eyes and remember that he had to get certain players into the lineup last year no matter how they didnt fit defensively. Timo at 1st base, Timo the DH, Timo Insert OF spot. So as much as we see Mack in center and it gives us pains, this is the same Coach who put Timo at 1st. Play the A team Ozzie. You can play the Sunday lineup against the royals. These lineup changes are more frustrating than Manuels sunday lineup. At least that was only once a week.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) The biggest pickup we could get are Javy and Freddy showing up. Freddy gave us a glimmer of hope by throwing harder and effectively against the Yanks for the final 3 innings and for those of you in the game thread I'm now convinced that we'll be able to get Javy turned around and that he'll have a very strong 2nd half. And no, I don't expect us to make much of a move because I honestly don't think the opportunity will be out there. If it was I'm sure Kenny would jump all over it, but I'd be really shocked if it happened. Well hopefully we arent looking back in September trying to figure out what happened and making a last ditch run 5 or 6 games out because we waited too long to replace either of these guys pitching. Each of those guys right now are 5 to 9 runs given up guarenteed. Put bmac in the rotation and send one of them packing.
  5. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) Its a waste of talent having him mop up innings. Kenny has got to force Ozzie to use McCarthy, I really hope he deals someone to make room for McCarthy, because McCarthy (starter) is >>>>>>>>>>> McCarthy (reliever) anyone that can't understand that now is totally lost.... Bmac last year for the strech run. 1.59 ERA.
  6. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) What pitch was Vazquez hanging all night? God dammit. I'm sick of this spiff, we're paying this assclown 12 million a year (or around there, yanks and dbacks paying for some of his salary?) This guy is absolutly worthless. I know McCarthy will go out there and give us a MUCH better effort than this spiff. I hope Kenny knows this too. We better f***ing win tomorrow. Bmac could pitch 20 scorelss innings striking out 30 guys and he wont crack the rotation. We had this last year. El Duque was getting destroyed, and Bmac was following it up with 7 or 8 Ks behind him. Bmac 2 hit Boston and shut down Texas in Texas and was removed from the rotation to put El Duque back there. For whatever reason Bmac = Gload to Ozzie. One more thing that everyone should realize. If Gardenhire smells blood in the water with the Whitesox, he will alter the rotation so we get hit with Santana which we can barely function against, and Liriano. This gets ugly quick.
  7. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Kruk got philliephans talking. http://www.philliesphans.com/phorum/viewto...38&start=90 http://www.philliesphans.com/phorum/viewtopic.php?t=35062 But yeah, that would seriously be horrible. They can have Vazquez, but good luck with that no-trade guys. If KW traded Bmac and kept Freddy 86 mph fastball and Vazquez and his lack of nuts then I would think he lost his f***ing mind. Bmac >>>>>>>>> Freddy 86er/Vazquez right now Send one of the underpitching twins away.
  8. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) Gimme a major league outfielder, please Screw that. Fix the rotation. And start our CF instead of platooning a corner OF with him.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) Widger's playing tomorrow, according to Mike North. I know its hot, but has Ozzie realized that we left Tuscon. Its July. Why are we playing a guy who cant hit, cant call a game, and is just a physical body out there. The A team would be nice for a few games in a row.
  10. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) i hate rongey, and i dont think vazquez pitched well, but im not about to say he pitched poorly either....dont get me wrong he needs to get his ass in gear and put hitters away, but i will feel better about javy going into his next start than i did going into his start today I would feel better having bmac pitch against the twins. Here we go. Twins series. Vazquez will face off against Radke. Good f***ing lord. Contreras faces off againt Santana And Buerhle faces off against Silva
  11. Gooch has a .300 BA against Bonderman. So he sits. I hope the god, that Ozzie resists the need to put Widger in tomorrows game. I know he will use him, day game after a night game. But for the love of trying to win a series and pick up a game against the team thats ahead of you, let AJ catch. Widger hasnt gotten a hit in over a month. He cannot hit lefties at all. He cannot call a game to save his life. We need to play the A team all the time when we face good teams. This resting our regulars is dumb. Rest guys like Pods then if you want to get mack in the lineup so bad.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) Rongey is beyond pathetic, he is the epitome of what I have come to hate about Sox fans this year. Just remember everything is going to be alright because they are the Sox and everything always turns out alright. Last year Ozzie kept El Duque in the rotation while bmac backed him up. It took till the sox were just a few games up and the season in doubt for him to put bmac back in the rotation. For whatever reason Ozzie thinks that giving the ball every 5 days to Vaz and Garcia is a good idea. Freddys fastball is still poor, and Vaz has no nuts. His stubborness to make a change when its needed may give us more problems than we think. The twins are almost the same distance to us, as we are to the Tigers. Does Rongey actually watch the whitesox. He is almost confused that people want Vazquez pulled after 6 inning. Rongey "But Vazquez is cruising, why would you take him out" Soxfan "Because he is a mental midget and blows up the minute something small happens, like a bird gets too close to him, someone farts too loud, or a fan stands up behind homeplate." He would of given up 9 runs in the first inning if the guy who was swinging the red shirt was behind home plate tonight. Too much of a distraction.
  13. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) He's also under the impression Anderson wouldn't have caught the 6th inning blooper Mackowiak missed. Mackowiak just pulled up at the end. I saw him do the same thing in the Boston series that lead to a big inning. Rongey thinks Vazquez pitched well. LOL
  14. QUOTE(Bonderman38 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) I don't think you can blame Ozzie for tonight. Javy had been absolutely dominating the Tigers all night, and it was only the 6th inning. It seems that Javy just implodes when he is in his big jams. Thats why we can blame Ozzie. There is a track record here. This is not the first time the third time through the lineup he gets rocked. Ozzie needs to stop with his bravado and his my pitcher needs to go x innings. If a guy detonates like clockwork after the 5th inning. have the bullpen up and ready to go the minute the first pitch of the 5th inning is thrown.
  15. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) i would agree with you, except the fact that his HR #s are profoundly down, which was the knock on him coming into this year...its amazing to me his inability to put hitters away consistently when hes up in the count...something tells me hes making good enough pitches in the hitters counts, but for some reason hes getting beat in pitchers counts...i think hes to blame for some of it, but personally i think some of it for vazquez has been plain bad luck....i know ill get ripped for saying that, but thats what i think....now a guy like freddy is a whole different story The only bad luck is the fact that he cant get enough spin on his breaking pitches and leaves them either floating or hanging. The other bad luck is the fact that he folds like a deck of cards when one little thing goes his way. Thats a pitcher I want on the mound in the playoffs. Bmac needs to get into the rotation. Last year he has a 1.59 ERA down the stretch. If Vaz had 1/4 of Bmacs stones he would be a 20 game winner. Baseball is filled with guys with great stuff, and a 10 cent head.
  16. Rongey is now doing his best Ozzie apologist impersonation. A caller asks why Mackowiak was in CF because its a big field. Then Rongey starts going....right hander pitching, right hander pitching. Is this a platoon we have, I thought we had a starting CF.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) Yep, seems like you have a good amount of evidence to back this claim up too. From what I've seen from people who I consider Sox fans, they're worried about the starting pitching more than anything. Our biggest problem is starting pitching. Raise your hand, when Mack let the ball drop in center did you think that Javier was going to go Hiroshima on us. If you dont have your hand up, then didnt watch the game, have blind faith based on nothing in his past, or were drinking.
  18. Ozzie needs to stop with the matchups based on what hand god has blessed a certain batter with. Time and Time again Mackowiaks poor reads and jumps have let ball after ball drop in front of him. And the stellar offense that we got out of Mack tonight, one infield single. Thank you very much. Play BA or if you dont trust him, trade for a CF. Having a corner outfielder in centerfield has cost us time and time again. Yet we keep seeing the same thing over and over like a bad movie. Vazquez needs a shrink. He hangs pitch after pitch and he keeps shaking off AJ on 2 strike counts. He is so desperate to throw his hanging breaking pitches he cannot contain himself. Everyone knew that he was going to implode on a grand scale. Put bmac in the rotation, even at his worst he has a bigger sack than no balls. Now tomorrow I dont want to see Widger. AJ is coming off of the allstar break and is rested. If we put Widger in, we are basically messing up. Ozzie has got to stop with the Tuscon tryout lineups. Play the f***ing real team against teams in first place, stop with the I will sub this guy and that guy to get a rest. Rest these guys against hte Royals not against the Tigers.
  19. Thanks vaz for s***ting the bed again. 5 good innings, 1 really really bad inning. bmac can do that.
  20. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) It was a slider. Jenks sucks btw. A slider moves right to left with some tilt to it. When you throw it badly it flattens out. When you throw a hanging curve, it sits up like a batting practice tee. I can recognize a slider and a curveball.
  21. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) you can only hang a slider 4 or 5 times before that happens that was his curveball. His slider is the pitch he has been throwing well with 2 strikes.
  22. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) you can only hang a slider 4 or 5 times before that happens that was his curveball. His slider is the pitch he has been throwing well with 2 strikes.
  23. Keep throwing those hanging curveballs meathead. Everytime you threw one tonight you got it hit hard. But you keep it in your head to throw it over and over. And he throws another one. You cannot learn from your mistakes.
  24. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) what happened to his changeup? Grandslam off of no nuts. f***ing stupid mother f***ing pitch from a pitcher with no brains.
  25. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) No. He is not THAT much faster than Mack. ANd Mack got a solid jump. We know you dont like Anderson, but if you think that they have the same range and are the same defenders then I suggest an eye doctor.
