  1. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) Tigers ain't getting Abreu. Jim Leyland said theres a better chance of a fan coaching the team for a week. If this is the deal they have to make to get Abreu then let them do it. Look at Thames numbers nad how Miner has pitched. They would be giving up a guy hitting .300 with 19 homers for a guy hitting .283 with half as many homers. Proposed trade: Thames and Miner for Abreu
  2. I wish they had a sonic nearby. I make sure to find one when I visit somewhere for work that has sonics in the area.
  3. Jons comments in the paper about from the get go this year, he wasnt confident in his pitches brought more fuel to the fire. Jon is a contact pitcher, which of course means he providings little worth for most SABR guys. He has a poor K rate. He will always have a poor K rate. For Jon to be successful its a simple formula for him. Throw first pitch strikes, keep the ball down, and let the sinker run. Pitching inside to righties, and using that Changeup in strikeout situations and keeping it low make him succesful. When Garland is 2-0 3-1 on every hitter he will get rocked. He cant pitch behind. This is what I expected from Jon this year. Keep the ball down, get ahead and be aggressive. If he loses so be it. But when he nibbles around the plate, walks guys until he cant anymore and then throws a 4 seam fastball over the plate on a 2-0 count that winds up over the fence, he gets a lot of people upset with him. Hopefully this Jon keeps pitching aggressive like this.
  4. My son woke up last night at about 2am and wouldnt go to sleep. So we of course did the weak thing and brought him into bed with us last night. So we could get some sleep. He woke up then about 6am, and my wife went to work. For whatever reason, based on not really sleeping, I thought it was saturday. And proceeded to go on my saturday routine with my son. Making him a pancake breakfast, etc. That was until my mother in law came in the front door. I asked her what are you doing here. Then I realized, oh s*** got to get ready for work. My dad is right, kids make you crazy. Now how the hell did I mess up Wednesday and substitute Saturday with it. Selective memory I guess. At least I wasnt late for work.
  5. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) Only thing I need to hear when KW is talking about trades is that laugh and you know somethings up.... I think he learned to control the giggle giveaway. He used to be so easy to read because he couldnt control himself. Are we trading a player, KW "No!" , giggle, smirk, shy smile. Then you knew something was up.
  6. Where do I start....my wife would answer too much crap.... Cisco 3550 L3 Switch, Juniper 5GT firewall, Cisco AP1240AG WAP all of which work provided so I can work out of my house and keep my work network and my home network isolated from each other. A 2 Terabyte NAS for video/music content created with http://www.freenas.org/. I recommend anyone wanting to create their own NAS use this free software and an old PC with lots of disk attached. Archos PVR for my portable media needs, IPOD 20Gig old school model, 50 inch DLP TV that I have a media center edition PC hooked up to. 6.1 Surround Sound theater which makes gaming with my xbox360 killer. 27 inch LCD in my bedroom. and my latest toy is my new macbook which has a intel dual core in it. fast as hell.
  7. Hmm that Paul Konerko must of got the memo that I am the same Jason Grilli that was on his team in 2004.
  8. Red Sox designated outfielder Willie Harris for assignment. A future Minnesota Twin? Harris got 45 at-bats in 47 games for the Red Sox and hit .156/.250/.200. He's already said he's not interested in returning to Triple-A Pawtucket. Jul. 18 - 4:23 pm et
  9. Jon pitched well. Ran his sinker in on right handers. Pitched low in the zone. Commanded himself nicely. Pitched with attitude. Nice win.
  10. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) Garland looks great so far. He's got his command and all of his pitches working. I hope he can keep it up. He is keeping the ball down, pitching inside and keeping his change low. This is great so far.
  11. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Lol. He must have someone at home watching. Jon looks GREAT! Either that or he is working on his audition for bull fighter.
  12. Well we have a moron behind home plate waving an orange tee shirt.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) Kenny is hopefully not that stupid. By the way, aren't we overdue for someone else starting up a "trade for Rowand!" thread? It's been like 3 days without a new one. There are still morons calling into the postgame show and to the radio shows asking for Brian to get traded because they finally read the paper and realize that Brian has a 200 average. They forget the little tidbit that he is one of our hottest hitters over the last month or so. But then again I bet some of these guys were calling into the same radio shows about Dusty Baker and someone named Bartman a few years back.
  14. For those scoring at home, that last catch that Brian had would of fell if Mack was out in center.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) Thome breaks his bat and we strand Guchi on 2nd. We've hit Robertson hard the past two innings. At least 1 run to show for all of it, but it could have been more (considering Anderson had a hang whiff em right at Inge). Our right handers have the right approach today against a tough lefty. Dont pull the ball, go up the middle or oppo. This is how I wish our team would approach a lot of lefties. It would give us a better shot when we face them.
  16. Garland looks great so far. Everything is down, and he is throwing strikes. What a difference getting ahead of people is for Garland.
  17. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) I somehow doubt that Freddy has a bizarre, infectious skin disease which has CNS side effects. But if you remember when we aqquired him, everyone was saying he will regain his velocity. He would have a game here and there were he would hit 96 maybe 97. But for the most part would be at 94 and below. He was saying stuff in the news about how if he had more work in games, he would be stronger and throw harder. He had a medical condition. Maybe Freddy has a medical condition also.
  18. For whatever reason, this year we are seeing more made up trades by our soxtalkers due to a lack of real rumors.
  19. QUOTE(Slugger Yolando @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) how do i set a darn avatar on this board? i'd like to put up a picture Here is a link to the help forum funtionality of the site. BTW welcome to Soxtalk How does tha work Soxtalk
  20. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) If he gets the velocity back, it could mean getting back to where he was last year. The same could be said for Billy Koch.
