  1. QUOTE(Allsox @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) Ahh, I didn't know it was Widger's responsibility to make sure the pitchers ALWAYS hit their location. Didn't know AJ has the same magic ability. :headshake Does everyone forget the fact Ozzie's the one calling pitches for both AJ and Widge?!? And can anyone on the board EVER give credit to the opposing team for going with the pitches and getting hits?!? Actually AJ on the Mike North show has said that he and Widger call all the pitches. That they look over for if a pitch out is being called.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) They are just finding all the holes today. Nothing you can do about it. Was bound to happen to Jose at some point. Kinda funny that his longest winning streak is going against their longest losing streak. Fitting I guess. Sure, thats what it is. The worst team in one of the worst divisions in baseball puts a 5 spot on your ACE and a few words about karma and its a wash. How about Widger moves around a bit behind the dish. You know we can throw inside pitches. How about Conteras starts to pitch ahead of a batter or 2. This is the pirates, you can quote me how great they are in the NL at home where they face the cubs 19 times and the rest of their terrible division. We need to win this game. This is sad that we are in this position. These are the games you cannot lose.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) I think we know the answer to that one. This is one of the worst starts of the year by any of our pitchers, all things considered. I wouldnt go that far. There have been too many Judy and Vazquez blow ups this year for Contreras to take that cake.
  4. QUOTE(Allsox @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) And it also seems he catches good ones as well. He caught Buehrle's 1:30 shut out last yr and the pitchers don't have a problem throwing to him. Christ, a pitcher has some bad luck and people wish to throw Widge right under the bus cuz it's all his fault. :headshake That was last year. Last year Politte was unstopable. Baseball is a year to year game. You can count the number of good starts with Widger behind the dish on your hand this year. Do you think he calls a good game, by setting up on the outside corner and not moving.
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) Juan isn't an auto out lately. But is Widger right now. And another rally killed.
  6. Crede needs to come through here before the crap part of our order comes up.
  7. The sox should get one of these, paint it black and silver and put it on the outside corner so Widge can get oh so comfy.
  8. Uribe with some special baserunning. He should be at third, however loves 2nd so much.
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:41 PM) I'll pass. Widge plays once a week at most. Someone just needs to have a f***ing chat with him, and tell him to fold up the chair on the outside corner, and move back and forth a bit. Some inside pitches would do his CERA wonders.
  10. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Pirates have the second best BA at home in the NL. They must know where all the little holes are or something. But seriously, that surprised me. You realize that they get to play against these crappy NL teams a lot. If the sox were in their division, they would win about 130 games.
  11. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) Jesus. WTF is up with Jose? He got injuried. Decided to change something and add a new arm angle. And his pinpoint control he had before he got hurt is gone. He is 2-0 on everyone. Now Farmer is all over the fact that we are pitching away a lot today.
  12. Its time for Contreras to shut down the mighty Bucs O. Sweet swinging Jose Hernandez, of the I strike out all the time Hernandez's, should be an easy out. Cancel the Allstar start. Guillen to the mound.
  13. Next year we need to upgrade at backup catcher. Everytime Widge calls a game, its the same f***ing story. The pitcher throws a ton of pitches to the outside corner, and doesnt adjust. Every pitcher that goes with Widger looks bad.
  14. Farmer on the radio just said, Contreras is pitching away. Well thats a f***ing shock, consider that Widge is in there. LOL Has he setup the chair yet on the outside corner.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:13 PM) Contreras giving up a hit to Jose Hernandez? I think that proves he's struggling right now. Jose Hernandez can hit fastballs, but not breaking pitches at all.
  16. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 11:59 AM) 2-2, whats been up with jose? he hasnt pitched that well since coming off the dl, hes been a differnt pitcher.... He has a new arm angle that has added to the mix. I dont know if he quite has his control yet. But having Widger behind the plate today doesnt help.
  17. 2 strikes and we give him something to drive. Widger behind the plate, shock.
  18. Okay Count, lets pitch like an ace. f***ing defense has been a bit poor today so far.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) In terms of actual smog, the area I'm in is sort of interesting, in that you have everything that the industry in the area (large oil industry) has put out, combining with the wind-blown dust that China naturally produces like crazy (the Yellow River, or Huang He, is yellow because of this wind blown dust, the wind produces a plume that goes out into the Pacific for hundreds of kilometers). So honestly, I'm not sure what is smog and what isn't. We spent 1 day in Beijing about 5 days ago, and again I couldn't tell if I was looking at smog or actual weather, because it started raining after a couple hours, so while there were low clouds, it could very well have just been rain. Thus far though, I'd say that in the cities, the skyline seems to resemble L.A., in that you only get a very limited view of the buildings around. IT could be better than I've seen though, dunno yet (we get another day in Beijing in about 6 days) Suzhou is right next to Shanghai. Suzhou is also interesting because its their version of Silicone Valley. Its a real high tech city. My new macbook was built at the apple plant that is a half a mile from our plant. You are getting to see a lot of China that I didnt get to see. Make sure you post pics when you get back.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) Interesting thing is, once you get past the spots on the map that are just like 100 people, it seems even the small cities are 250,000 people. Everything is a "big city" here compared with the U.S., there's just that many people. You're in what would be a small city, you walk down the road, there's internet cafes, a dozen brothels within a few blocks, business districts, bazaars, and so on. The run down areas where the workers live seem to surround these central areas where we're staying, but everything seems to join togehter in a big city form. Have you seen the people spitting because of the smog, or is the city you are in not as smoggy. They are actually working on an awareness project now, to clean up this behavior before the Olympics.
  21. Baseknock Pods. Okay lefty on the mound, stay on first.
