  1. QUOTE(NYSox35 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) Take a look at his game log: IP H R ER HR BB K W L SV IP ERA Jun 8 DET L 2-6 L 7.0 9 6 6 2 1 7 4 3 0 77.0 6.19 Jun 2 TEX L 3-4 - 6.2 5 3 3 1 2 4 4 2 0 70.0 6.04 IP H R ER HR BB K W L SV IP ERA May 28 @ TOR W 7-5 W 6.0 7 5 5 3 2 4 4 2 0 63.1 6.25 May 22 OAK W 5-4 - 6.1 10 4 4 3 2 5 3 2 0 57.1 6.12 May 17 @ TAM W 5-2 W 7.0 6 2 2 2 0 5 3 2 0 51.0 6.18 May 12 @ MIN L 1-10 L 5.1 11 7 7 2 2 1 2 2 0 44.0 6.75 May 5 KAN L 4-5 - 7.0 7 1 1 0 2 1 2 1 0 38.2 6.05 IP H R ER HR BB K W L SV IP ERA Apr 30 @ LAA W 6-5 - 7.0 5 5 5 1 2 2 2 1 0 31.2 7.11 Apr 24 @ SEA L 3-4 - 8.0 8 3 3 2 1 4 2 1 0 24.2 7.30 Apr 18 KAN W 4-1 W 6.1 6 1 1 1 0 3 2 1 0 16.2 9.18 Apr 13 @ DET W 13-9 W 5.0 13 7 7 2 1 2 1 1 0 10.1 13.94 Apr 7 @ KAN L 7-11 L 5.1 10 9 9 0 2 6 0 1 0 5.1 15.19 Season Total 77.0 97 53 53 19 17 44 4 3 0 0 6.19 Out of those starts, I'd say 3 of them are truly awful (Apr. 7, Apr. 13, May 12) Last night's #'s weren't good, but he had some things happen with bad defense behind him that played a part in 6 runs (Rob's miscue). Since the May 17 start, he has been keeping us in games (last night not really). He deserves to keep getting things on the right track. He will be fine and so will the Sox. So the fact that he has given up 19 homers and the ball flys out in the summer at the cell. That doesnt scare you at all. Last night he could of given up a s***load more. He had one inning where there was a ball hit dead center to the wall, the next one was a mile high fly ball to the track, then a 2 run jack. Without his sinker working he is Eric Milton.
  2. QUOTE(NYSox35 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) I'll preface this by saying, what do I know? Nothing That being said, I say the chances are next to nothing. We're paying this guy $7 million this year. You don't put guys like that in the pen. Further, we want him to get back on track if he's sticking around 2 more years, or even if he isn't, so that he has some actual trade value. Right now I think it's mental and he's gone back to the bad big inning Jon of old. He will get straightened out long before the stretch run, which is what we need him for anyway. So while we are waiting for Jon to get his nuts back, how many 5 to 7 run games are we going to have to overcome in the next 2 months. And just like the 5th starter by committee in 2004 is this going to cost us the division. We cant throw away games because someone who makes a lot of money s***s the bed everytime he goes out there. He has had a few months to get it going. It is now June, and he is currently pitching worse than he did in his previous Judy years.
  3. The defensive blunders pissed me off. But our 18 game winning, world series pitching, pitcher needs to man the f*** up and stop giving up gopher balls at the clip he is hitting at. He will give up 40-50 dongs at his current rate. So much for a sinkerball pitcher.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) It really is time for Mark to beat that f***er. Thats going to be hard with Widger behind the dish. Widger needs to start calling pitches inside again.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) Umm....such things as momentum heading towards first for Uribe, and the runner who would have been on first having a lead. I've never read so many "should of, could of, would of...." Garland's job is to get the batter out, and he didn't do that. Jon Garlands ERA is now at 6.19. He has given up 21 homers already. People are batting .311 against him. He is at the same levels as the 5th starter monster was in 2004. Someone needs to give him a come to jesus talk, or send his ass to the pen.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) After seeing the trash we currently have in CF, I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't want Ford on our team. He's not a superstar....but at least his a major league outfielder. Get someone who can catch a f***ing fly ball and not make an adventure out of it. Then send our sinkerballer that gives up flyballs like they are on sale to the pen.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) There you go. Long toss is the single best thing to do to improve velocity. One thing that hampers me on occasion is that I tend to be straight-legged on my motion towards the plate where I will keep my landing leg straight, thus making me leave the ball up a lot. My coach changed that by making me pitch and then grab a handful of grass after every pitch with my throwing hand. Works too. Also, running doesn't really help with velocity, just endurance. The longer you run, the more you can pitch. My problem when I first started college was I used to stride to far, and that would make me leave the ball up and also lose a bit of my velocity. I still dont think that the ball has landed from the first batter I faced in college and threw a 3-1 belt high meatball too. My coach taught us to have your elbow hit the opposite knee. If your back knee is dirty, and your wrist is at your opposite knee then you have followed through completely. Once I started doing that I was in the strikezone, and with my stuff I was successful.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) Seems like Rob isn't getting enough of the blame here. He cost us the game tonight, plain and simple. Thames never should have been up there in the 1st place. I'll say this, if Anderson is in CF on that flyball, Ivan Rodriguez stays at 1st. He catches it and gets it in. No questions asked. But this is not an excuse for Jon's crappy pitching. Mack made a few errors out there. He caught that one catch back footed because he didnt judge the distance of the ball, he kind of started to run back a bit at the last minute. Pudge saw this and tagged and advanced. The other was the throwing mistake where he threw the ball to home instead of hitting the cutoff man. But we have a problem when our Sinkerball pitcher is giving up so many fly balls. Its a difference if he is a flyball pitcher, but this guy bread and butter is to get people to hit the ball on the ground. They were launching pitches to to the track.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) That is not true. More mass does not equal more velocity whatsoever. That is a HUGE myth. My freshman year, I would do bicep curls and think it was going to make me throw harder...it didn't. I was in the high 60's. I did long toss all summer with a workout program of high reps/low weight and was pitching mid-70's my sophomore. I slacked off over the summer and all I had was conditioning and weight training before the season of my junior year and my velocity only went up 3-5 mph. Now, I'm throwing around 80 consistently, topping out at 83. Squats are definitely part of our repetoire as they work the core muscles and improve leg strength which allows us to push off the rubber harder and get some more velocity. I increased my velocity based on a throwing program over 2 years. In high school I could barely hit 80. I did a ton of long toss over a 2 year period and was able to throw in the mid to upper 80s in college. We barely touched weights and did a ton of running. The only goofy things we did with weights was to increase the breaking pitches. We had one exercise where we used a coke can filled with sand and we would flip it curveball style. We also used a coffee can filled with sand, and it had string attached to a stick and we would wind up the coffee can with the stick. We also did stuff with our leg kick, My leg kick was huge and we would spend a lot of time working on our drive to the plate making sure our back knee was dirty. And to attest to your more body mass doesnt equal more velocity, I was one of the hardest throwers in our league, and I was 6'2 and about 150 back in college.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) Well, some people were trying to say that Garland didn't get hard tonight. From about the 3rd inning on, it seemed like every other batter hit the ball 340 feet or longer. Garland is pitching like the 5th starter from 2004. Everytime he goes out its pretty much 5 to 7 runs. At some point this season they are going to have to buck up and put McCarthy into the rotation. Garland can then move to the pen. He is good for a few innings before he detonates, so it may work for him. I know we gave him money, but he is a time bomb waiting to happen. There was one inning tonight, where a ball its hit to the center field wall for an out, the next ball is a towering fly ball to the warning track, then a single on an 1-2 pitch, then a 2 run jack after he gets behind 1-0. There were numerous times tonight were Garland was 1-2 on a hitter and you blink your eye and its 3-2. He definately doesnt have his balls this year. Outs were lazer beams, fly outs where just missed long fly balls to the track. He got lucky that it wasnt like 10 runs he gave up. Sean pitched well. Pitched ahead, stayed ahead. Our offense fell asleep after the 2nd inning. Waving Cora killed the rally with the pen up to take Rodgers out of the game.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) Don't take any pictures of Kenny Rogers. Why, I can become independently wealthy if he has some issues with my camera work.
  12. I will be at the game hoping that Jon keeps it up. Pitching inside is key. Its time to rock the Gambler.
  13. Coulter is a skag. She needs some self loathing human being to give her a jump from time to time to keep her inner b**** at bay.
  14. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Note: Hangar has been doing the Media Watches since 2002. We have a good attendance, we are the defending world champions and are .5 games out of first place in June. WTF are we still talking about media bias and crap like this. NO ONE CARES IF THERE ARE 5 STORIES ABOUT THE CUBS AND 4 STORIES ABOUT THE SOX on X day. If you want to read whitesox all the time, I suggest you read the Southtown Economist. Lots of Sox stories. You may want to purchase a sissors to cut out the random cub stories so they dont hurt your eyes.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 07:41 AM) Busted... you got me. Thank you so much R&W... :rolly I just thank my lucky stars it's something I can get help for and not something non-treatable.. like say... a stupidity disorder. ZING!

  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) I don't give a s*** if they implicate numerous former or current White Sox players, I just really want to see some names thrown out there. This whole thing should lead to a blood test for HGH, Grimsley's situation should make the human growth hormone problem a major focal point. Maybe this will put some pressure on Donald Fehr, who wanted to pull out of the current drug testing program if the Collective Bargaining Agreement wasnt signed by a certain date this summer. Wait till congress requires a blood test for this.
  18. The big key for Sean is to throw strikes. If he does that his stuff should keep him here.
  19. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) Allow me to introduce all of you to Gianna Grace. 7 lbs. 4 oz. 20 in. Mom, Baby and Dad are all doing great!! Gianna was able to watch her first white sox game last night and brought home a winner. She was never even worried. Congrats to you, your wife and family. Happy Birthday Gianna.
  20. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) I like the idea of Clark. That's a much more legit name for the Sox to be looking at. This is a great call. He would fit our team well. Here is to the brewers getting rocked in the next few weeks.
  21. Instead of trying to hit the dramatic home run, maybe Konerko should be trying to hit a line drive. Thome and Konerko were trying to go yard instead of driving in the runs in that situation. This is why we have sucked over the last 2 weeks with men in scoring position.
  22. Here comes Zumaya. Lets see how this works.
  23. Jesus f***ing Christ, keep taking pitches down the cock.
