  1. Someone on our team needs to nut up and get a big hit today. Jannsen has given up at least 4 runs to TB twice, Baltimore twice. The only team he dominated before today was the weak hitting Angels.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 27, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) Didn't Uribe used to be fast? That was a few pounds ago.
  3. Its sad when your game is relied on a hitter batting a buck 97
  4. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 27, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) I'm not liking the number of pitches per batter so far. Granted it's only been 2 hitters. Jose just needs to get a groove going. Once he gets a feel for his forkball, he becomes very very hard to hit. Then people start to chase it.
  5. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ May 27, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Sometimes, a player just feels to comfortable at the plate (Rios). He needs some inside chin music heat to make him think a bit. Well its remarkable how much more sucessfull an AB is for a pitcher when the pitcher gets ahead of a hitter and then goes for the K. As opposed to gettting to 2 strikes then running it full. 2 batters, 2 full counts. Stop nibbling.
  6. Hawk is going down on the Jays lineup. And then a few minutes before, he started the "they must of knew what was coming s***" on why they rocked Garcia and Politte. He needs to get with one story and go with it.
  7. Hopefully our hitters adjust. The Jays are parking on the outside corner with our righties. Just setup there, and hit the mit. They got the scouting report.
  8. QUOTE(brijames @ May 27, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) Living here in MI I get to see the Tigers a lot, which really sucks, but they look to be having the same kind of year the ChiSox had last year. They have had the hitting but now their starting staff is putting it all together. They are playing with so much confidence right now. Every break seems to be going their way. Leyland has really changed the attitude of the team. Other than the Sox so far they are beating the crap out of their Central Division foes like the Sox did last year. Someone has to start slowing them down a little or before you know it they are gonna have a huge lead with no looking back. 2.5 games ahead, you can put down the f***ing white flag its May.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) Its going to be a little harder for KW to come up with a replacement now than it would have been this offseason, when even I, a guy who gets ripped constantly on this board for not knowing anything, could see Politte wasn't going to be aces this season. Politte not being last year is one thing. Politte in the 7 ERA range is not good. I still want someone to explain how one of our starting pitchers loses a few mph on his fastball, and nothing is said about it. We just hear from ST on how Freddy is now a control pitcher and thats that. Freddy is not a control pitcher, he has a hard time hitting his spots. So if he has problems now hitting his spots and he gets behind, he cannot blow away anyone anymore. So now people crush his weak ass fastball when they sit on it.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) DJ needs to quit praising Politte. He's not preaching to Cubs fans. Sox fans know what's going on. The funny thing is when a crappy pitcher toes the rubber at the cell, they show his 2005 stats and his 2005 stats only on the jumbotron. Cliff Politte was good last year, this year he uhhh, well last year he helped us. Shingo was good for us one year, then we ditched him. We ditched Koch after he blew. Lets not hold on to garbage for sentimental reasons ie: Mike Jackson pitching in a meaningful games in a playoff race because he needs to get some silly record. QUOTE(pcullotta @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) Felix Diaz = 6.75 ERA Clifford = 6.16 That's scary Clifford is now at 7.13
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Politte sucks. He needs to be replaced on the roster. His ERA is in the Felix Diaz territory.
  12. At some point either Cliff needs to prove he can get hitters out again. Or he needs to figure out a new career.
  13. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) If Anderson continues to struggle and Fields makes the adjustment to playing in left in Charlotte, maybe we'll see Fields in left and Pods in center before the year is out. What makes you think that Fields comes up to the majors and rakes the ball or hits at all. We have had a lot of people hit in the bandbox of Charlotte and look like studs, only to come up and completely look like turds. Jeremy Reed tore up Charlotte. Brian Anderson hit 300 down there.
  14. Our relievers should take notice. See how the Toronto relievers, throw strike one. Pitch inside to right handers, and then when they get strike 2 they put the hitter away. They do not, throw get me over meatball down the cock on pitch one. Or nibble like a hamster the minute they get 0-2 to get the count to full because they are scared to put the hitter away.
  15. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) Game = ova. The game was over the minute we had to rely on Uribe or Anderson to drive in runs. I love it when DJ and Hawk keep harping on how the sox dont expect them to hit. I am sure when KW was dreaming up this season that he though you know what, Uribe could hit say 180 and Anderson could stay around 160. Yeah f*** the fact that picthers in the National League can hit better than both of them, they play great D. Trust me guys, the minors are filled with guys who have the most electric gloves and moves you have ever seen, but the guys cant hit.
  16. Someone needs to have a come to Jesus talk with Cliffy. Cliffy I want to thank you for last year. Now onto this year. You have stunk. Your ERA is in the 7s. Either it starts to move down, or you will. Thank you
  17. DJ saying the Cliff is throwing the ball well proves that they must pass out drugs before the broadcast happens.
  18. Why is it that every year we carry some reliever that stays in the 6 to 8 ERA all year long.
  19. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) What about Nelson? Nelson is a ROOGY. He is there for a right handed batter.
  20. Politte is just about to let this get away. Hawk: For you little leaguers at home, this is what we call s***ting the bed. When you start to unravel the minute a bit of pressure is applied to your spincter.
  21. At this point I am thinking. Thorton and his nasty crap in the 8th, no matter righty or lefty. And then Jenks and his nasty crap in the 9th. Politte and Cotts need to fight it out for 7th inning bridge man.
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) Clifford looks good, real good. Leadoff walk.
  23. This is why we shouldnt of had extended spring training with the boone logan experiment for so long. Dropping games that we could of won to teams we should of beat is why we won last year. Our formula last year was to beat up on the teams we were supposed to beat, and play 500 or a bit better against the better teams. This year we have lost a few games that we should of won due to open tryouts.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) I'm not sure how, but we have to get Ozuna in the lineup whenever we face a lefty. When Garcia pitches, we have the best defenders in the lineup. No Ozuna.
