  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) Everything doesn't revolve around making the big league team. Players are trying to impress, move up in the system and get their shot at higher levels. I think Ozzie would rather have the kid throw some strikes and check out his stuff. He would rather have a kid get lit up and challenge someone, than do what we just witnessed . ie: Nibble like a gerbil around the strikezone, walk the bases loaded then the next guy does the same thing and a crooked number goes up.
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Is Nunez a spring training invitee or a minor league arm? I like his stuff--nice movement on his fastball and breaking pitches. Jenkins looked foolish on two in particular. He pitched for the Marlins a while back. He is a Thriller/Vizcaino clone, however they both had better stuff than Nunez. And as I am posting this, just like Thriller he lets all of the inherited runners score.
  3. Nunez walks the next batter. He is doing his thriller impersonation. No fastballs, just so breaking crap one 3-2. Men on for the Prince.
  4. Richard has been pulled. Vladimir Nunez in. Prompty gives up a single. The pitcher who walked score 3-2 Brewers.
  5. Now he gives up a 2 run single to Clark. 2-2 game.
  6. Someone cant find the strike zone. 4 walks including the pitcher so far.
  7. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) Nope, no recognition of DVD's at all. Well considering that the company went out of business(so you cant call support), firmware, and reinstalling drivers didnt help. I would try and pick up an inexpensive replacement. You can get double layer DVD burners for less than $75 now.
  8. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) My burner is able to still do CD burns and play CD's, but it has stopped being able to recognize DVD's. I put one into the player, and nothing happens. Some programs come back with an error telling me the disc is not a DVD. I have tried re-installing the drivers, and I have even tried re-installing a few of the DVD programs I have, but to no avail. Anybody have any ideas? Is it happening for all of the DVD's you place in that drive. Can you play a regular DVD?
  9. Hopefully we can see Boone Logan go today against some better hitters. Have a back to back day and see how he rebounds.
  10. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) Hi. Short end of the story is this: my girlfriend and I broke up. She left me. There wasn't anything wrong with the relationship. I'd rather not go into the circumstances, but she and I were a wonderful couple. Largely, the break came out of fear of committment, and that's as far as I'd like to go with that. It broke my heart. It was a month ago. Since then, I've tried to move on with my life. Today, I went on a date with a girl and had a splendid time. Part of me, however, feels down because if it were up to me, I'd have been with my ex. I wasn't thinking that at the time -- no way! -- but now, after the date, there's a small sadness in me. A bit of regret. And, let me just say, that I'm known to understate. How long will it take for me to stop caring about her and missing her? Has anyone here ever lost a love and to some extent regretted it for the rest of their lives, or did you get over it? Everything happens for a reason. As corny as that sounds it is true. I was engaged to a girl, who was hot as hell, nice, seemed like she would be the mother of my future children. However she had this little problem, she liked boning her boss. I found out, relationship abruptly ended. I then moved on. I figured that was it, and all women are evil. A few years later I met my wife. We are having our 5 year anniversary this year. Either two things will happen, you will get back together with your girl, or you will eventually move on and meet someone else that makes your heart pitter patter. The hurt takes time to get over. Everyone has a different time table. Dating people is a good first step. The only thing I would say as you go on these dates, is to learn what you like and dont like from these girls. Do not just try to replace your girlfriend, or replace the void. Take them out and just have a good time. A broken heart sucks. Everyone eventually goes through one at some point.
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) I couldn't agree more. I look at St. Patrick's day as an opportunity for people (many of whom are barely Irish) to say something like, "I'm Irish...look at me...LOOK AT ME!!!!" And absolutely no offense to SSI and the like, because he's clearly very Irish and still has strong Irish roots, but most people just come off as annoying on this day to me. I'm also half Irish, BTW. I just get tired of the fake people out there (once again not aiming this at the people in this thread). I am about to go out to the mess of bars on St. Pattys day. I agree with all of the people on how this day is a mess. Growing up on the South Side and dealing with the Western Ave bars where everyone claims to be Irish. No you are American of Irish heritage. Too many amature's tonight. The SS parade is another example, people so drunk and crazy they can barely walk. the SS parade used to be a family parade, but now its too many jagoffs getting plastered spouting off how even though their last name is Kowalski that they are really 100% irish. I sat outside of a bakery at 105th and Western and there were a series of drunk kids behind me rocking a port a potty telling each other how irish they were. I love this time because I get to revel in the music and the culture of Ireland. I love listening to the jigs and reels, even the bagpipes and to the bands on St. Pattys day. I will drink my guinness tonight and enjoy it. The drunks and morons can stay at home. Off to the Kerry Piper in Willowbrook to watch the Larkin Brothers. The place will always have a special meaning to me as its the place I met my wife, oddly enough watching the larkin brothers.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Of course there should be concern with Jenks. We heard two straight spring trainings that Koch's velocity would come over the course of the month. Jenks's mechanics looked terrible the last two times I saw him pitch. People act like he has a track record of 10 years worth of success in the majors. He's as much of a question mark as anyone else on the big league team. We don't have any other closing options right now either. fathom his control I might question, but he has been throwing triple digits since high school. He was throwing at the most 95 last ST also.
  13. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 04:24 PM) God. This is like having 20 damaso martes! The marte curse is upon us. Is the 3 spot all from Montero
  14. Another dog s*** minor league FA pitcher at the end of a game to snatch a loss from the jaws of victory.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 11:01 AM) I found that alot of people were putting fruit in their beers? Like blueberries and such. It was weird.. I think I am going to call one of my cousins today and ask them if they put fruit in their beer, then make fun of them if they do.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 10:40 AM) They got 1 letter. Hell, it was probably written by the guy in jail. This tech did a great job. More and more companies try to hide stuff like this, or are told to leave it alone. But laws like this are taking the managements hands off of the tech, so they can report it freely. Techs working with Law Enforcement on this is a great thing. When I started at my company I told them about the Infraguard program(FBI Partnership with business) I belonged to before with my last place. After hearing about the benefits, they allowed me to re-join. We now have an inside track to helping us with prosecutions on intellectual property issues, and other crimes we come across. We have used it a few times and it saves us a lot of headaches. People who hurt or harm children in this way should be given no mercy. They should be sentenced to the maximum and moved out of society.
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 08:16 AM) Have a fun, safe time everyone.....especially SSI-71 Cheers brother By the way, is the word Celtic pronounced Seltic as is in the pro basketball team, or Keltic as in the style of music? True or false? Budweiser outsells Guinness in Ireland. Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh I have never seen Budweiser in the pubs in Ireland, but who knows. Could be in the Temple Bar area in Dublin. In the little dinky pubs back in Kerry, its pretty much Guinness, and the local flavors on tap. But then again I havent been back there in years. The first time I was in Oxford, England I had a Budweiser Budvar which I thought was the american beer, but it was the Czech company. Celtic is pronounced with a hard K sound. Neat little fact about the county I was born in. I bet a friend of mine that my cousin had a palm tree in his front yard near the ocean in Co. Kerry. Of course the person who knew more than I about Ireland decided to tell me I was full of s*** and that its too cold for a palm tree to grow in Ireland. The weather in that part of Ireland is very mild, mild enough for palm trees to grow. The bit of gaelic I have always had in my sig is very good to use tor tonight. It translates to "Give me same as the man on the floor". Have a fun day everyone. Sláinte is táinte!
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 09:49 AM) Thx a lot Oz. Now we'll have to hear things like: "even your own manager said it's a Cub town"......not that we care. If anyone brings it up, then ask them about the upcoming centenial celebration of the last cubs world championship. Are they going to have a parade, party, baloons based on 1908.
  19. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 09:43 AM) Spring Training isn't even over yet and we have an attendance article. Why oh why do reporters have to belabor this point. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-06...i-sportsnew-hed Fact: There are more people on the planet that want to go to Wrigley. Fact: The White Sox won the World Series last year Fact: Comparing the attendance of the two teams has been beaten to death Congrats to the Cubs on their annual attendance award.. 1908
  20. Vazquez wins 18 games Garland wins 18 games again Buerhle wins 20 games Konerko's BA will be around 300 Thome will hit 35 homers Jenks has 35 saves, and scares people a s*** load of times with walks McCarthy winds up in the rotation after the trade deadline BA hits 270, has solid defense, and has 12 homers and 58 RBIs
  21. Congrats Alex, great job.
  22. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) More on Boone Logan... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines Very confident, which is something you need from a reliever. The only thing I want to see now is how he responds after he has a bad outing. How does he rebound, does his confidence span and he has a short memory on setbacks, or does it linger. That is the only major question left.
  23. Hopefully Pollock can work on his 81 ERA in the Spring.
