  1. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) We had some of the same things happen with Cingular. Not quite that drastic, but similiar things. And their service is HORRIBLE - dropped calls ALL of the time. I dropped at least two calls per day. I have Sprint PCS which works great, the data service is fast and provides great content. Then of course my company forces all of their IT staff to use only Cingular phones. Now my useless Cingular phone gets only one bar of signal in my house. Most of the calls only go to voicemail, which also never notifies you when you get a message. I wind up calling people back on my home phone or my sprint phone which is useless because most of the calls I get when I am on call are out of country and last for hours on end. Cingular sucks. I am still trying to convince my company to let me use my Sprint phone and bill it back. It also would be a hell of a lot cheaper considering my Cingular service with data costs more than the combined service from Sprint my wife and I share. No logic here.
  2. 27 October: Teenagers Zyed Benna and Bouna Traore are electrocuted after climbing into an electrical sub-station in the Paris suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois, in what locals say was an attempt to hide from police. The police deny this, but news of their deaths triggers riots in the area which is home to large African and Arab communities. Arsonists destroy 15 vehicles. If you climb into an electrical substation there is a good chance you might get electrocuted. Then after said fools bake themselves the neighborhood riots. This is the same mentality that sue the McDonalds for the coffee being hot when they spill hot coffee in their laps.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 07:21 AM) I like how he assumed we wouldn't be able to sign Konerko. Yet, he assumed that Cleveland would be able to sign Millwood. To be honest, I'd think our chances of signing PK are better than the Tribe's chances of signing Millwood. You hit this right on the head. How many teams can afford Konerko and have this as a position of need. How many teams need pitching and are willing to overspend on it. Which player has Bora$$$ as their agent. Bora$$$ is looking for a max deal. AJ Burnett is nice, however if I was looking to invest in a pitcher it would be Washburn or Millwood.
  4. Happy Birthday Madison. Congrats to the Southsiders. In a short while you will look down and have no clue how you got along without her.
  5. Its sad to see the end of the Ben Davis era in WhiteSox baseball.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:59 PM) My Dad was checked everytime he was in an airport in Phoenix, put simply because he wasn't an American. When it happened to me, I couldn't care less really, because they're just doing their jobs. But about the 5th time my Dad was checked, and they forced him to open his new Guitar and they broke his sunnies, well let's just say he wasn't too happy at all. Also, during the 9/11 anniversary this year, when my parents were in New York, they flew in, and they said security wasn't very tight at all, not compared to airports like Sky Harbor and LAX. I get searched everytime I go through Skyharbor for ST or LaGuardia for work. Its was a running joke that we needed to get to LaGuardia at least an hour extra because I needed to get my bags and everything searched.
  7. QUOTE(agame @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Does anyone think PK cares about his stats in the long run? Because if he does, he would put up better numbers staying here. Could that factor in to his decision? He already won a WS, he is not going to the HOF, so stats are cute and all, but gobs and gobs of money usually win out. I am sure that when he hits 38 homers and hits 275 in LAA he will fret, then about a millisecond later he realizes that Moreno gave him enough money to buy a small island in the pacific. Then all is better
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) Frank is Healthy ok, I said it. Now what? Lets take a look at Frank healthy and then playing 1st. That lasts exactly 15 seconds in the first game, until ball is hit to his right or left forcing him to move or god forbid "dive" for the ball. The next day is Frank Thomas has been added to the 15 day DL with discomfort in his foot.
  9. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) They have like $80 million committed to Beltran, Pedro, Glavine, Benson, Floyd, and Cameron. No way in hell they can afford Paulie unless they move one of them or their GM/owner is an absolute moron that has nothing better to do with money. They gave up Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano. Dont overestimate the stupidty of the new york mets. They will be freeing up their money from a certain catcher who wants to become a DH and extend his playing time. They have the money. Piazza made 16 mill this year.
  10. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) If Konerko signs elsewhere, my prediction is that Jim Thome will be our starting first baseman with the Phillies picking up a lot of his contract. Thome would DH, unless Frank was back.
  11. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) There's tremendous opportunities for a LOT of this stuff. I've had some ideas, but no network to get them off the ground. That's my single biggest problem with anything, and most people's problem when starting a business. Meanwhile, software compliance for S-O is indeed important. Maybe we should seriously chat more offline. I keep hearing rumblings that S-O is eventually going to apply to private companies.
  12. A pair of D-cup breasts weighs between 15 and 23 pounds—the equivalent of carrying around two small turkeys. LMAO@this description This thread is so asking for pics..... They should redo this study and use the victoria secret models as test subjects.
  13. Based on KW history. We will make a fair offer, and then KW will go to another plan. He is not going to wait around as Kong is paraded around from team to team to wait for a match. We will make a fair offer, and then he will start working the phones. We picked up Dye, who is not Maggs. Was Dead for most of the year, yet hit well when we needed him. We will get someone that isnt Kong, doesnt have the power of Kong, but will be fine. This might be a blessing when we are in contract talks trying to get our pitching tied up for the next few years. And we are going to be fine.... Young Owens Anderson Sweeney Gio As we have found out, losing Frank for pretty much two years, Maggs, Carlos Lee. Anyone can be replaced. Maybe not 100%, but the sox will beat on. If Kong wants to be here, he will be here. If he doesnt lets move on.
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) Let's see, solid LH bat that would look great in our lineup. Cheaper than PK and will require less years. Shift Dye to 1B, let Giles play RF and then you have Anderson or a platoon at DH. Works for me. The only thing that makes me nervous is the fact that he is 35 in January. I would rather get the Overbay/Tracy/Huff and keep relatively young.
  15. Well if we lose Kong. But gain a guy like overbay/tracy/huff at 1st and have Dye DH, and then put Anderson in RF I dont see how we are so worse off than we are today. Konerko got hot in the second half and had a great playoff series. But I think that saving our money for the pitching in the long run makes more sense.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) I'm not hung up on a 7 year deal if it is structured properly. Buy outs involved, dollars are right, etc. The obvious example $65/5 or $65/7 which one would you take? Tex, Kong is going to get a max deal. And that isnt going to be here. The hometown discount is a myth. The comments he made at the rally were probably just things that were caught up in the moment. His agent is going to shop him around and get the max deal. The Angels after watching Kong destroy them, and them needing a RH bat makes a perfect fit. Moreno will spend the money and is not afraid of making this deal. My money is on the Angels.
  17. Not too many deals that pan out beyond 5 years work out for the team. You wind up with an albatross of a contract towards the end of the deal. So when does KW contact the Brewers GM for Overbay or the Dbacks GM for Tracy or Huff from the Drays.
  18. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) I just ordered 2 sets of the Topps World Series Cards...$19.99....I got one for viewing, one for saving... LOL, I did the same thing with the topps cards. I have been buying some duplicates. I have a big plastic bin I have that I am collecting newspapers, other stuff for attic put away. Got the bats from igottohavethat.com. Been buying all of the books and crap, the DVD when it comes out.
  19. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) I think in a way it would be shady to trade him after he gutted his way through the summer with a bad back putting the interests of the team above his health We have to be careful here of trading away free agent signees after only one year of service. Things like this do more to crap on Chicago as a free agent destination more than anything. He was signed to be a reliever and not a closer. He is effective as a reliever, he provided lightning in a bottle as a closer this summer.
  20. Dont think we are getting any break on a Konerko deal. Now you have Ozzie making comments about how its not wise to put all your money in one player. Kiss him goodbye.
  21. Konerko's grand slam and Pods walk off in game 2 was insanely loud.
  22. ITS A MAN BABY, YEAH!!!!!
