Cleveland vs. Chicago 09/21/05 7:05PM CT

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) I think the Indians will lose 3 more games, at the most, this season. They're just on a sensational run. It was obvious this series that their offense is just so much more focused at the plate than the Sox. I'm just grateful we won last night. They hit line drives, the work counts, they foul off 2 strike pitches. our offense, dips the back shoulder, trys to elevate, has no plate discipline, and doesnt shorten their swings up. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 08:13 AM) If it was ANYONE else than AJ, I would say it was unintentional, but I have a hard time beleiveing that it just so happened to be AJ that dug his spikes into Boones back.....I love Pierz. This is exactly what I was talking about when they were looking at signing him in the offseason. If he does that to us, we would be screaming, the fact that he spiked boone, Its gravy. Its the same thing as Rodman, he is someone that you hate to play against but man would you love on your team. KW better give this guy a 3 year deal. -

QUOTE(rangercal @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) Buerhle, Podsednik, Garcia, Hermanson are the main reasons for this losing s***. Not Ozzie. Get a f***ing clue. So after 103 pitches and not having his good stuff Mark is at fault. No f***ing way does any manager keep mark in after that. He gave you six and battled. You turn it over to your pen who has been great all year and you go to battle with fresh arms. -

Hang this stupid s*** on Ozzie. That homer came on pitch 108. Mark didnt have it all night long and battled, then you f*** him Ozzie. You should resign. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Most hitters haven't touched his high fastball or his good slider/curve. He's been hurt this season if he hangs his curve or when he gets his fastball down and over the plate (Boone, Sexson). Jenks has got to learn how to climb the ladder on hitters. The minute he learns that he will be untouchable. -
High Stakes: Williams Should Be Let Go . . .
southsideirish71 replied to Wealz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
JR will not fire either Kenny or Ozzie. It isnt happening. As far as JR is concerned this team is a success. 4th highest attendance, even if this team criples into the playoffs do you have a clue on how much more money that is to the team. This was a cash cow season. -

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) With the exception of Uribe, who's made an adjustment, I haven't seen any great consistencies anywhere in the lineup all season. Uribe made that adjustment after they brought back Walt Hrniak who helped him get a new leg kick trigger . Walt was here for a short time, Uribe is much better. Imagine if they did this in April. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) they rank near the bottom of the MLB in attendance however. I dont think their payroll will increase significantly. Secondly, we still have the best record in the AL, how many times has a GM or Manager been fired over that? If we were in our division last year with this record, would you still be calling for the same thing? I dont think KW will or should be fired. I think the only mistake he made was not having a vet on the bench to keep Ozzie "semi-grounded". Not having Nossek or someone like him on the bench is a big big f*** up. Torborg would of been nice on the bench next to Ozzie. This is something new for Ozzie this managing thing, and he has noone to lean on for advise or experience. I would like to see our hitting coach fired. I would like to see someone who preaches a hit down on the ball, line drive approach over what we have. Everyone that comes here, magically has their power numbers jump and their BA goes down. I would like to see this come from outside of the organization. Get someone who can teach the mechanics of a line drive swing. The indians have nice line drive swings. You are less likely to slump with line drive swings that the dip your back shoulder and launch method we have had for the last few years. Get rid of Walker, hire Torborg as a bench coach and let sleepy baines retire or sleep somewhere else in the organization. -

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) OK now THIS is extreme. If the Sox flame out we fire KW. I was no fan of his until this year. I look at it this way: what they did, everybody hated. Oh, you guys are doomed by giving away Lee and Mags! Small ball will never work! And lo and behold we were the best team in baseball and in first place all year until at least the last two weeks. Sounds like they got it half right: pitching/defense, check. Offense--ouch! But what do you do? Crede is a great 3B but his bat sucks? Uribe is an awesome SS but he's been underwhelming. Rowand was his own ESPN highlight reel in CF but his bat has been awful. So do you dump the solid defenders in hope of better bats? That's a tough call. How many of you honestly thought we'd turn it around this fast? I thought it'd be a couple of years for the "Ozzie ball" to take hold. I didn't think we would dominate like we did until we started to run out of gas. I won't be calling for anybody's head until after next season, if nothing changes. We lost over the last few years because of a lack of an option at the 5 starter and problems in the bullpen. If you take this pitching staff and insert them on those teams 2003, 2004 they run away with the division. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) Exactly. For all those saying it wasn't KW's fault there was nothing of significance done at the deadline because the price was too high, KW's options were to overpay and improve the team's chances, or acquire Geoff Blum and hope the Sox got real lucky. Its beginning to look like he made the wrong decision. I'm sick of waiting till next year, JR should be too. If the collapse occurs and the Sox miss the playoffs, KW and OG should be sent packing. They won't obviously, but if this season turns into failure, it won't bode well on the White Sox immediate future. Also FWIW,KW has been given the luxury of the highest payroll in the division, so money isn't an excuse Think of the revenue that the Injuns will bring in after having a 41 million dollar payroll this year and making the playoffs. Trust me Shapiro will spend to add more to that team. The indians used to have one of the highest payrolls in baseball. -

QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Can teams legally do that? Move the fences in and out to their discretion. Obviously they moved them in before. -

southsideirish71 replied to Wealz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They need to do something about the ease of the ball flying out of the park at the cell. Either move the fences back or something. They moved the fences in when they had the team that mashed the ball to death, now we completely change our formula and having the fences so close is a bad thing. It makes our hitters stupid at times. -

Sox hitters, when you have men on in scoring position and the game is on the line. HIT THE f***ING BALL No more bat slamming, swearing at the bat, or doing the "Oops I shat my pants with the game on the line thing that paulie is doing below" Pitch like you care, Hit like you have balls, and end this f***ing game with a white sox winner. NO EXCUSES, JUST VICTORY -

QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) This team is f***ing doomed with this leadership. 09/19/2005 9:02 PM ET Notes: Jenks, Marte to close 'Closer by situation' dictated by Hermanson's sore back http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws This was posted on whitesox.com right about the time Marte was blowing the game. Marte's ERA is now 3.71 with a 1.65WHIP. vs Neal Cotts ERA at 1.92 and a .1.03WHIP Does Ozzie even look at stats.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) You must adopt the Rally Crede as your saviour for all that is Soxy and good. We wouldnt need Rally Crede's if Joe Nossek was still here to help balance the insanity. Marte in a key situation. you have got to be f***ing kidding me, Caution all the Rally Crede's cannot overcome stupid managerial moves.

QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) Did you hear Hawk comment on how unusually quiet the crowd was? I was thinking it was very loud with a lot of electricity, and then Hawk says something like that?? Sox fans have been bashed year in and year out, and now our very own Hawk is b****ing about a quiet crowd, when it was obviously not?? That pissed me off. Then 3 times he got way ahead of himself, and called it wrong: Twice he says "Waaay back.. Stretch..Stretch..".. and the ball is caught 20 feet in front of the warning track. and then before Podsednik caught the ball which was almost a homerun, Hawk says "that's gone". I usually like Hawk and DJ, but last night was so freakin frustrating listening to Hawk. And to top it off, before the game was even finished, while the ball was in the air, Hawk says "Mark Buehrle vs Westbrook"... Hawk needs to shut the f*** up. When you go down 4 runs quickly it will quiet the place down. Only a f***ing moron would be real loud after going down 4-0 real quick. When they rallied that place was rocking. When Carl hit the big homer, the place was nuts.
