QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) The lack of a number 3 hitter has really, really hurt us lately. I like the move by Ozzie of trying to change things, but PK is not a prototype number 3 hitter. Everett needs to go way down in the lineup, as he's completely coming off every pitch. Maybe if the guys would stop f***ing pulling every single pitch to the left side we might be okay. This guy is throwing crap away to our right handed hitters and just enticing them to pull it. BTW every single pitcher is now busting carl in when he hits from the left. He however cannot adjust. -

corpseball+water=wet corpseball Glad I see that August was not just a fluke month. We cant score a leadoff triple, does our offense suck donkey balls now. -
Mike North and Farmio on the radio at the same time? GMAFB Farmio loves to hear his own voice and now we would have the sultan of self promotion Mike North on there. I predict that North and Farmio come to blows during ST over who gets to hog the mike more. I would give two s***s to hear about North's wife, dog, friends, politcal cohorts, dog again, then the wife telling everyone how much she loves him over and over again, the dog again, and then his love for his wife. When I turn the dial to listen to the ball game I want to hear the score and the play by play. Maybe some banter about baseball, but not anything that Mike North has to offer. Norths dog which will become the new mascot of white sox baseball.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) I'm thinking of changing my broadband provider soon. The one I use has a limit on the download amount before it charges you extra. I have had AOL before, when I was on dial up and had a much slower PC. I found it used a whole lot of processing power and caused the PC to crash a lot. I have heard good things and bad re AOL, (I'm not all that concerned with the percieved world domination/big brother aspects of AOL), does anyone here have any thoughts? We have two locations in the UK using mistral SDSL(http://www.mistral.co.uk. They have been pretty good, decent tech support and the circuits stay up. I dont know if they have a decent invidual use offering or if they have bandwidth usage costs on the service. I will send an email to one of my collegues in the UK and ask what he uses at home. I set him up with a VPN about a year ago so he owes me one. Have to help out the guy who creates some of the nicest sigs on this site. Cheers

Hopefully the whitesox will realize that this is the Omaha Royals the worst pitching staff in the majors. Lets knock this minor league team around like we should. We should be kicking ass and taking names in this series. Lets get that division clinched already, they are giving me a f***ing ulcer. f***ING MAKE THEM EAT BIG TIME s***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have to send Marte home for the year
southsideirish71 replied to White Sox Josh's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You cant send Marte home. Its stupid for many reasons. As much as I hate Marty Party, when Damaso actually throws freely and hits his 94-95 mph he is as nasty as possible. He has the talent there is no question. He just needs to get his head on straight. I will say it again, he hasnt been the same since he broke Chavez's hand. He used to be deadly to lefties. Hopefully he will get his head out of his ass and help this team. I think in the offseason he will be gone, but as part of a deal that will get something of value back. I think he can be a value as a trading piece. Why would we completely blow his value ahead of time. He and Ozzie will kiss and makeup. Just like Gardenhire and Lohse did when Lohse broke Gardy's door and f***ed up his own hand. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) What do these chicks know about fashion. White T-shirts are so 2004. White T shirts+H20=Instant Fashion Ask any of the bars in panama city around spring break.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) We play so poorly against pitchers that have a good changeup, its not even funny. Even that guy from the Royals who beat us, had a nothing fastball. BUt all he did was drop changeup after changeup on our hitters, making them look stupid. They seem to always be caught in between with no real approach to the at bat. You have to key in on either the heat of the change, and foul off the other pitch. Thats the only way to wint he at bat. Why not try to hit the fastball to right field. If you catch the change you will pull it. If you get in betweeen you wind up pulling the change foul usually at home run distance or you K silly on the fastball.

Konerko to be an Angel?

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) Why is Thomas not an upgrade? When he played for just a little bit this year, it was a huge lift for the team offensively. He hit about the lowest average wise you possibly can, yet still put up an OPS that would either be leading the team or would be second on the team to PK. If he puts up a .240 season, that could be a .950 OPS campaign. He'd be a little rusty, for sure, due to barely having played the past 2 years...but if he is truly, 100% healthy, he is still one of the best power hitters in the league, and will still slug the hell out of the ball. You bring him back to a fairly incentive laden deal(perhaps a Juan Gonzalez deal, where if he only has one at bat for you, you aren't screwed) and there is very little risk at all, and all the reward in the world. JMHO, but I think it would be worth it...just because he can only DH does not mean he's not a valuable player. He busted his foot last year, took a long time to heal, he comes back and breaks his foot again. What part of this issue happening twice on an older player with a large frame is a fluke. He is going to have issues with that foot for the rest of his career. I like Frank and we were a better team with him, but to lay hopes of 2006 on him is not a good thing. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) I feel what you're saying SSI, but like I said, Oz might not give up on him. Just looked at our pitching stats for the last 30 days. Opposing teams are hitting above .290 against all 5 of our starters. In the last 30 days, AJ and Rowand are barely hitting above .210. I pretty much can guess he wont give up on him. I mean facing a light hitting team like Minny. Ozzie will feel that this is just the antidote that El Duque needs. And when El Duque faces a good hitting team that launches him for about 5 homers in 3 innings we can hear Ozzie chalk it up to he is a battler and a good vet. This is more and more sounding like the Timo argument.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) I understand the frustration with Duque, but let's give some credit to Ana. That is a solid ball club who handed it to Mark B. and Garland as well. So did Texas and Boston. El Duque started out 7-1, whats his record since?
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) 0-1 0-1 0-1 all three games We also face Wood who we beat 1-0, JP Howell who owned us last week against the Royals. Our offense needs to get a pair and start f***ing hitting.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) From what I know, Brandon McCarthy will be the Sox 5th starter next year. Right now the Sox are quite pleased with Contreras progress and the same can't be said for El Duque. They were already frustrated with him earlier in the season and he will not be around next year. As far as him not having trade value, his contract is 4.5 million and he's pitched a decent amount of innings. Someone will take a chance on him and if he's packaged with Marte in the off-season (a distinct possibility) you could potentially grab a guy like Chad Tracy from Arizona (who wouldn't mind another starter and than a reliever). They get Tracy and then sign Kong for DH and make a shot at Furcal and move over Uribe to 3rd and we have something.

We face Liriano or Santana on Friday. OH f***ING JOY!!!!!!!! Either a guy who just owns us or a new rookie that hits 97 from the left side.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) I'd be shocked if Oz gives up on Duque for B Mac. So much for Win or Die Trying. Lets worry about a guy at the end of his career and his feelings over the good of the team. Ozzie do the right thing. Let the kid pitch.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) It's about respecting all the players. How Oz handles el duque is how the rest of the team would expect to be treated. Esprit de corps and all that jazz. We let thriller pitch longer than he should of last year because he was close a record for appearances. I am glad we are worried more about peoples feelings than 1917. I thought this team was about grinders, was about doing whats best for the team, about win or dye trying. But if its about being someones buddy over that, then this team is lost.
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) That's why I think it was kind of premature to give Ozzie that 3 year deal. Wait until the whole season is over to see what he does. I've already said, I think Ozzie is a really crappy manager, but a great motivator and intangibles type of guy. Kind of like Tony Pena. Another manager who motivated his team into a big lead, who crumbled at the end and wound up in third. Thank god we had such a lead.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) Watching Baseball Tonight on ESPN, wouldn't you know the collapse talk has already begun. Although Reynolds and Kurkstan believe our pitching won't endure a slide such as that of the 64' Phillies, it's started--people have noticed our dwindling lead and will be making comparisons to past clubs until we clinch. Yup I saw that too. If they collapse, a lot of people in the sox organization should be fired. They would of set this organization back a while. We will be a joke.
-
QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) Is anyone considering trading one of Buehrle, Garland, or Garcia + a good bullpen arm + minor leaguer(s) for a huge bat, like a seriously threatening bat? I love our pitching and all... but we need a big bat so bad it's not even funny. The time to make trades has come and gone. We are who we are now until the end of the season.

According to the BRRUUUUUCEEE LEVINE Marte showed up late for the game and Ozzie told him to take the day off. Not quite fired. But after this year HE GONE.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) According to another post, Ozzie said Duque will make his next start. He said El Duque just had a bad day. The only ray of hope is he said he would think about it and confir with his coaches, but he was planning on going with the piggyback el duque and brandon in his next start.
-
Per the game thread. Ozzie in the post game conference was asked if he was going to regroup tomorrow to get ready for the next road trip. His answer is that he is going to leave chicago to go to Miami tomorrow because he needs a day off from the city of chicago to mentally regroup.
