  1. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:19 PM) i know but they have faced good pitching. This was never a good offense anyways. OUr offense is now ranked last in the majors in August. We are getting shut down by some medicore pitching also.
  2. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) Seriously though, what is the sick infatuation with trying to be the first one to "call it" if we somehow don't make it? (Relax, we're making it.) It really is the way that people make it sound as if they want it to happen that bothers me. I'm fine with pessimism, I can be pessimistic myself, but it seems to be going above and beyond pessimism.... My big frustration is that I have seen the offense bad all year long. The only reprieve was when frank came back and our offense did well for 2 months. He goes down before the trading deadline and you knew the offense would stumble a bit. But this is out of hand. They keep talking about chemistry, and we see no help away. Its like seeing a runaway train. You see it coming down the tracks and you yell.
  3. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) Take a step back. We got shutout by a damn good pitcher today. Santana was awesome. If they get shut out by Mays tommorow than that will bad however a ton of teams have been shutout by Santana. Josh our hitters havent been close in a long time. This is not a bad game, or a bad series. They have been bad for a long time.
  4. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) So you b**** and whine because you having nothing else to say? Well give us the positive spin tonight. What should we post. Wow Arow nearly hit the ball straight. The ball was round and so is his bat so its not his fault. They want to bring the injuns in closer so they can play games that count in September so it matters. Timo is so clutch, damn that airport inspector that snatched the lucky rally fattypanties. If those hits were a few feet longer they would of been homers, then again if your aunt had balls he would be your uncle.
  5. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) Agreed. The "Hell Yeah" in the subtitle gave it away. Sad Really Or it could be a play on words because Nite is from the chat crew and that Nuke always starts a winner thread with a HELL YEAH. But that might take a second to realize that.
  6. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Support? You know what really needs support? The White Sox offense, I'm still not convinced, even though people say we're out of our slump..... I still don't see guys going opposite field, if Pierzynski would hit the ball the other way, he'd be close to a .300 hitter, there's no doubt in my mind. Kenny needs to add another bat, until then this team is just a pretender. You guys can be optimistic all you want, I'll be the realist. I got ripped to death in threads about posting hitting charts showing how many hits were to the pull side of the field. I was ripped for showing the lack of OBP, singles and doubles as a concern. Now all of a sudden the balancing act of 1 run victories swings the other way and people start to see it.
  7. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) The addition of Pods means a lot, no not that our hitters start hitting with runners in scoring position but he gives the team a different outlook. A lot of people are down right now, im tired of being down, we can sure as hell go on a 9 game winning streak while the twins and tribe go on a 9 game losing streak. A 7 game lead in any division is great but because the way we are playing it sucks, f*** that, 7 games is good for us too. All I am saying is lets get some positive energy around here s*** can turn around very fast. Comon people. The man that really made a difference is on the DL for the year, and its not Pods. We had pods in April and May when we hit in the 250s. When Frank came back, we hit 270 and 279 in June and July. Why because he makes things better for the people around him. He goes on the DL and we are back to 250s. With him and Pods on the DL the offense just dies. The tribe is hitting in the 300's for the month. THey are pitching just a little less than we are and their schedule is much easier. Hey there is always the Wild Card.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) Go ahead, rip into me. You should know by now that I could care less about being ripped on for being optimistic. You got to admit it seems that nite is enjoying this. Nites not enjoying this. He is just pissed off. Just like everyone is. People are venting. Let it be.
  9. QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) this site has never been so pititful.... its depressing The minute the sox actually get more than a few hits and score a few runs in a game, not via one fluke inning via the dong we will get more impressed. Its one thing to have this team shut you down, its another when Chacon and other crap just dominates you like you a a AA team.
  10. QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) against the red sox, yankees, and twins.... we get back pods very soon.. The Red Sox and Yanks have bad pitching. The twins have good pitching but no hitting. Yeah Pods will stop our hitters from magically hitting in the 220s and trying to park homer after homer. 43% of our runs this month are via the dong.
  11. QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) We are fine. We have the best pitching staff in the majors, the second best record in the majors, the most home games left in the majors, and a very easy schedule the rest of the WAY...... GO SOX EVERYONE SMILE....... Too bad we have probably the worst offense in the majors right now. Oh to have a mediocre offense just now.
  12. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) He may be a good pal and a good motivator, but a game day manager he is not. The item to prove that is when you look at the oober player Timo who is Ozzies automatic plug in for every game on the line situation. Need a first baseman. TIMO Need a DH. TIMO Need a leadoff hitter. TIMO Need a pinch hitter for Gooch. TIMO
  13. QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) This is our first real losing streak so far. Look I'm not saying I dont think it can happen---because it's in the back of my mind. However, All I'm saying is to chill. We should be GRATFUL for a 7 game lead. You can be greatful all you want for the lead. But we werent this bad last August with the great collapse. We at least hit 262 as a team with Joe Freakin Borchard in right. The reason we lost last year was pitching in the stretch and the pen. Take last years hitting(with Joe Borchard) and put it together with this pitching and we romp into the playoffs. Thats even with Valentin kicking the ball around here and there.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Note to offense: In order to win a game, you need to score a run. We officially have hit rock bottom as an offense. Our TEAM splits for the month of August .228 BA as a team. 2nd worst in all of baseball. The only team worse is the Royals. They are worse by 1 freakin point. .285 OBP THE WORST IN ALL OF THE MAJORS. We are tied for worst with 58 runs. To give you a perspective on how bad this is. The twins whose offense was sucking for most of the month have scored 91 runs. 2nd from the bottom in hits. Last in doubles. BUT HEY WE ARE 6TH IN DONGS WITH 25. So 25 out of 58 runs have been scored via the dong 43%. And our pitching has been stellar. We are third in all of baseball with a 3.64 ERA for the month of August.
  15. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) If you couldn't tell this team needed some offensive help even before the season started, somethings up. I don't blame Kenny for much, and my hope in him as a general manager is still high, but not addressing the area of need with the talent this team has, is worse than any non-move made by a general manager this season. Well JR for years used the excuse he couldnt get big FAs unless we came out to the park. Well they are on pace for a record amount of fans at the park. Time to f***ing spend some money and trade a few prospects. Lets get someone, something that will breathe some life into this thing. Our season is on life support. We have the lead, but when you lose 8 games in such a short period of time. We need something.
  16. Make them watch this. If f***ing 12 year olds can figure out how to get a line drive swing. Maybe these guys can relearn how to keep the bat level when it goes through the hitting zone.
  17. QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) It started to fade when Frank (remember him?) re-broke his ankle. And he did that before the trading deadline. We got Geoff Blumm to replacement. Thanks for the shot in the nuts KW.
  18. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) Wisdom from one of our many armchair hitting coaches. Too bad we got rid of Walt Hrniak. But Rowand is a perfectionist. While he fully admits his swing is pretty good right now, Rowand still points to the timing and rhythm of his approach that need to improve in order to catch the ball more out front, get the ball up in the air and drive it on a consistent basis. Thanks for f***ing your swing up. Keep tinkering, just like the rest of our guys. They almost got that ball up in the air and drive it working. The change of Rowands swing
  19. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) Rowand has been really stinking it up lately. If he swings like he did against Rj when he hit the homer, well he'd have more success. That was a nice short swing. Like he had last year. When he had power to right and right center. This year, specifically after the padres series, he changed his swing so he can get more around on the ball so he can get lift. Its so f***ing obvious, look at his hands. Last year his stance was very erect, he had a strong L going with his arms. This year his hands are tucked in like Mickey Tettleton. He now has a very pronounced uppercut on the ball. And cannot hit the outside pitch at all.
  20. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) Timo Perez is like the dork in school who you had to let play because he was the only one with a ball. I havent hated a player more since Royce K-Layton was here. Royce and Borchard hit circles around this panty buying girlfriend of Ozzie.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) Bad luck? J. Jones blasted a hanging curveball. Rowand had numerous meatballs to hit tonight, and he was too busy fouling them off over the dugout. Luck didn't make Stewart and Ford catch those balls. If so, then J. Dye got very lucky also. Our offense flat out blows, and our manager has no f***ing clue how to manage a team during a game. What a f***ing insult to Iguchi to get lifted for a ph. BTW can we officially kill the Timo is clutch crap. 2-1 and he swings at a fastball at his neck. His job is to take pitches and get on base in the 9th leading off. But no, Mr. Fattypanties has to swipe at the ball like a mouse on drugs. But hey he provides a service that we shall not talk about. And buys panties from the big girl section.
  22. This offense is worse than last year when we had Borchard patrolling RF. If we had this pitching staff with last years team(even without Maggs and Thomas) we get into the playoffs. This is a f***ing joke. In fact I am waiting for Borchard to come up. For f***s sake they only swing for the fences at least have someone who can hit like s*** and have some power.
  23. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) For all you people jumping off the bandwagon your f***ing idiots I have been a whitesox fan since I can remember. I have seen some pathetic losses over my years. The only thing this would motivate me to do, is line up with all my sox bretheren at Soxfest for the Q&A session for Kenny or his successor depending if we collapse. Never would any of this sadness stop me from being a whitesox fan.
  24. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) Problem with tonite is people will simply use Santana's stature as an excuse for their performance. It stands out more with Garcia's game, but it's far from an aberration. We've seen him for the third time this year. He's not molded from the arms of the best pitchers in baseball history. Teams have beaten him. Make adjustments. Take a few pitches. If we're losing, lose with several walks and more than 3 f***ing hits; 2 of which came off a reserve player in Ozuna. How about this for a strategy. Try and purposely hit the ball to the other field. If its a changeup you will probably pull it. This was from Hawk and DJ the last time we faced Santana.
  25. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) The problem is even if the Sox make the playoffs, you have to face other playoff team's top pitchers. The White Sox offense has very little chance against good pitching. They have stopped running. They have stopped advancing runners. They don't situational hit, and if you don't have a couple .300 hitters, you aren't going to score much with that approach. It was fairly obvious in the second inning tonight that Garcia would have to pitch a shutout to win. I posted it then, and I'm no genius. Well I posted a few times earlier in the season about how bad this team is in BA, OBP and how we are last or near the bottom in the AL in singles, doubles and triples. Then of course the response was "Oh we are last in doubles, but we score a lot of runs and we have the best record in baseball, the whole idea is to score runs". Doubles are a very interesting stat. Doubles happen mainly because of line drives either hit down the line or in the gaps. We dont have line drive hitters. Does anyone remember the article during the padres series of when Rowand changed his swing because he wanted to get around on the ball more to center it up for more power. Well the power stroke looks good arow as they dunston you to death throwing s*** off the outside corner. And of course we pinch hit for gooch one of the few guys who has actually got an oppo swing going. This is worse than Corpseball. This is moronball.
