  1. Now lets look at this the anti Ozzie way logically. Against Lohse Gooch is hitting .667. Lets not play him tonight. Arow is hitting .292. Bat him 7th. Perez and Uribe are a total of 0-13 lifetime. Lets bat them 1 and 2.
  2. After he shuts down the Yanks, you look at say he has the talent he has the ability and he has proven he can do it. Then you look at his ERA and say why does he have such a bad ERA. Then he focks up like this.
  3. Well after shutting down one of the best offenses in the majors, Conteras starts to give it up against possibly one of the worst.
  4. Minnesota has been one of the absolute worst offenses in the AL this second half. But they score 2. Will we score 2?
  5. If it was any other manager Rowand would be hitting 1 or 2. But because its Ozzie he hits way down in the lineup while guys who hit below 240 are hitting 1 and 2. This lineup may score a run. On a solo homer. But Lohse will look like Cy Young tonight. Anderson may be a defensive replacment but he wont play. Timo will be our leadoff guy until Pods gets back.
  6. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Who was the last guy for the White Sox that just helped from the get go? Pitching or hitting wise. I can't remember at all. Frank. Mark Buerhle
  7. Well I think people will be calling bulls*** if Ozzie starts Timo day in and day out at leadoff with hiis terrible OBP and bad BA because he is clutch and sits Anderson on the bench.
  8. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Yep, Pods on the 15 day DL, Hollywood is up Won't see him tonight though, Timo is leading off and playing left Just because he is up, doesnt mean he will play. Ozzie is getting Dustyitis playing crappy veteran players over young good ones. What bizzaro world does the best team in baseball have a bad hitter such as Timo be such a big part of their team. Lets review Ozzies man love for Timo. He is short and never has played first. Ozzie plays him at first. He cant hit, lets bat him in the DH role because Everett is hurt. And now with our leadoff hitter down, lets bat him leadoff because his terrible OBP and BA are just an mirage. Bat Arow leadoff and be done with it. He thrived in the position last year.
  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) No way on Munoz. The others are questionable, I see Wing going though as I've discussed with Jas. Its wing or Walker. Walker provides nothing and should be released but due to his contract its probably Wing.
  10. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) Exactly, he is one of our best prospects and he plays the OF. He or Owens are the logical choices and it appears they feel Anderson is more ready than Owens and that's ok by me. Willie Harris is a 2B, not an OF. Well my ticket to tomorrows game looks pretty good right about now. Maybe I will get to see Anderson also. I got to see both he and Sweeney in ST. But thats ST and against mixed talent.
  11. QUOTE(professionalfan @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) From Charlotteknights on WSI: "Anderson was called up last night for Posednick. With such little time left in Charlotte's season, hopefully he'll stay up." That would be spectacular news, but until I see the press release.
  12. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) We have so many outfielders it's not even funny. But after the first 3, it is a big drop. Rowand, Dye, Podseknik, Everett, Gload, Perez, Ozuna, Harris, Borchard, Owens, Anderson, Sweeney eventually. And I'm probably forgetting some too. Our outfielder list has narrowed. Guillen said he had spoken with general manager Ken Williams and farm director David Wilder about their options, but Guillen made his point clear: "I need a leadoff guy." That leaves Owens and Harris out of that list. And Ozzie was quoted to say that he doesnt believe Owens is ready.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) On Saturday, Guillen said minor leaguers Jerry Owens or Brian Anderson would be possible replacements if Podsednik had to go on the disabled list. On Sunday, he added Willie Harris' name to the list. FYI Owens hasnt been in the lineup the past few days. Rock that quote gets trumped by Gulliens quote in the suntimes. I think [we can] bring Willie so he can play some left field,'' Guillen said. ''I'm going to call down to the minor leagues to put Willie in left field and see how he plays there.'' That speaks volumes about his intentions. Anderson and Owens would make perfect sound sense. They are the best we have in the minors to fill this need. But then again Guillen doesnt think that Owens is ready, and he loves the speed factor.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) I don't think calling up Willie to play LF would be the reason for this. We've had some major offensive issues even before the slap master gets placed in LF. I even question if Pods is really hurt right now. To me, it seems like we're just resting him, and we're trying to make the injury sound worse than it is in order to have an excuse to DL him. To me, the reason for Podsednik's struggles lately didn't seem physical. He was playing some of the most aggressive defense he's ever played. However, a groin injury isn't the cause of taking called 3rd strike after called 3rd strike. It just seems like we're taking the foot off of the accelerator way too early. I wonder if Ozzie has short term memory loss. I mean does he forget Willie and his stellar KC series, or his A's series when he played so bad he packed up his s*** because he expected to be sent down.
  15. Great its Ozzie thats pushing this.
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) For a team that supposedly has been in "going for it" mode, Timo leading off the past couple days and Willie Harris potentially playing LF is inexcusable. Matt Lawton was available for a song, he could lead off and play LF. Pods was injured before the All Star break, and well before the trade deadline, his situation should have been addressed long before this weekend. Lawton isn't that great, but is so much better than Timo and Willie its sickening. This season is starting to take a very familiar turn. Hopefully a major deal can be struck soon to avoid the inevitable. How quickly you forget about the blockbuster deal for Geoff Blumm. If that doesnt scream going for it nothing does. So for two weeks we will have the equivolent of Corey Patterson without power leading off and playing left. Focking great.
  17. QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) I think he'll go platoon because neither is going to hit .400 (or even .250 probably), meaning he'll try to get them favorable matchups. We just had a series where he batted Timo as our DH the entire time. I think that speaks volumes about what he intends to do. When Timo Perez is your first option for DH for the Yank series.
  18. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) I never understand why striking out a lot is such a bad thing. Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackon and many, many others struck out a lot. It's much better then hitting into a DP. Yea I know its not a "productive" out but neither are pop outs , shallow fly balls and weak ground balls to the wrong side of the infield with runners on and no one keeps track of those. None of our hitters are those guys. Striking out a lot doesnt matter up until you have men on and less than 2 outs and you need contact. If the guy is a complete free swinger than you are focked. If he Ks a lot with no men on because he is trying to throttle a pitch its not a big deal. Its all about situations.
  19. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) I'd rather see Harris out there and in that lineup spot than Pablo. It's funny because I said Timo last night and everyone sharted all over me for it, and now he has a nice day today and everyone likes him a little better. Case in point, the 'he hasn't done anything to deserve a spot' excuse is crap, no one on the bench or the minors has done anything to deserve it, and no one on the bench can because they're on the bench. I don't even care who plays left, as long as Pods can get rest, be on the playoff roster, and come back in time for our big run. There's no need to play around, I'm the most superstitious guy out there, and I know a postseason spot is clinched, now all that's being played for is homefield, possibly pride. Get well soon Pods and Hermy Harris cant hit. Leave him down. Bring Gload/Anderson or someone else who seems to be able to hit The real solution is to have Arow bat leadoff. I would rather have him that all of the above while Pods is on the DL. Timo/Willie/Ozuna starting more than a few games equals bad offense.
  20. QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) By platoon, I mean Harris/Perez/Ozuna will all get some time out there - unless one of them gets real hot at the plate, I think Guillen will just go by matchups. I think he will go one of two ways. He will either bring Harris up and plunk him into Pods spot and think for whatever reason that Wee Willie can hit and get on base and steal. Or he will go with his girlfriend Timo and play him. I dont think there will be any Platoons. Ozzie goes with guys, especially after Timo had two hits in todays rainout. This justifies him starting for the entire DL session by Ozzies thought process.
  21. QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Didn't say that this option is any better, but I believe Guillen will make LF a platoon position until Pods is healthy. If by platoon you mean bat Timo as much as possible and give Harris a shot here and there to relieve Ozzies girlfriend Timo. That is the only platoon that Ozzie has in mind.
  22. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) How's Anderson doing down in the minors? Just curious. Anderson .296BA with a .362OBP The only knock is he strikes out a lot. Well he strikes out like the rest of our hitters. None of our guys are real good contact guys, so whats one more.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) I just don't get our mentality right now. Ozzie sure seems concerned about not bringing in any new blood. In reality, I think the thing our team really could use is a boost from someone new. Willie .217 BA with a sooper stella .287 OBP. 27% of his outs are by K. Timo .221 BA with a .278OBP 18.6% of his outs are by K Pablo .272 with a .311OBP 19.2% of his outs are by K compare those to Corey Patterson who has a .235 BA with a .272 OBP 31.4% of his outs are by K Now this is the same Corey that was sent down on a bad team. We are a first place team with the best record in baseball. Yet instead of sending or keeping those crappers from above down we celebrate their crappyness and they are option 1 from the bench or the minors instead of guys who can actually hit. Can we have an option someone else.
  24. This is a focking dumb move. Wee Wee Willie cant hit. And dont give us last years stats. Last year means nothing this year. If he batted 400 last year and then 170 this year, he still sucks this year. Wee Willie cant steal either. I understand the entire chemistry thing, but come on. Let Anderson give us a shot in the arm. Lets see what the kid will do. Just when you thought they made enough dumb decisions, Timo at DH, Timo at 1st, Timo leading off. They decide to bring up "Its my time now" FOCKING STUPID
  25. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) This could be a nice chance for Brian. Hopefully they would call Anderson up. But I have a stinking feeling that Borchard will get the call. KW has been doing a love fest in the media with him lately.
