  1. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) Had some computer problems during the game, but just wanted to come back and say that 8th inning at bat for Crede was f***ing pathetic. He had no plan. Usually if the guy goes away the first two pitches, you should adjust and look away. Considering that just about every single pitcher throws the sox away they would get a clue. But I guess they think they can get around on that pitch on the outside corner.
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) And sometimes it can go into a double play............ I guess the K with the man on second is much more productive then.
  3. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) i'm sorry for having some faith in the best sox team we've had in a long time. how dare i I am not worried about them losing the division. That would be a collapse of record holding magnitude. I am worried about our reliance on the longball. Our hitters are not shortening their swings up at all with 2 strikes. This is probably why so many of our hitters have low BA, lots of homers and a lot of strikeouts. Men on, less than 2 outs, shorten the swing up a bit and make contact. If you put the ball in play sometimes the ball can fall.
  4. We have lost 9 out of 13 at home. No execution. Thank god our division is as wide as it is or its the usual August swoon.
  5. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) The umps what can i say we would have won 3-1 if it wasent for them Bush was weak tonight. We should of scored like 7 runs against him. We became the 2000-2004 softball team.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) Wow, Carl Everett looks embarrasing at the plate. Check out the Griffey thread and people were saying that there is no where to play Griffey because we already have a DH. LOL
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) He's in a funk. Get off his back. We're losing. Wow. The world is over! Let's start Timo and Willie and Widge the rest of the year! :rolly The last series we won at home is now when we played Tampa. We got swept against the A's We lost 2 out of 3 against the Tigers We split against the Bosox We now have lost this series. Maybe just maybe when we come home we become a softball team. 3 runs on a 1-5 pitcher. come on I am sorry 2-5 now. We have men on multiple times and strand them. I wish we would go back to what we did in the first half to win. Play this smartball. Our offense now is the 2000-2004 Corpseball offense at home.
  8. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) The only thing true about this is the 9 million part. Konerko hits about the same with runners on or no runners on and of course he gets on base and slugs well above the league average in both situations. I guess the best way to put it would be to say he struggles with runner on because he does not hit well when there is one runner on. When there are two runners on or the bases loaded he is hitting like .350. If he only hit HRs he would have 25 hits. He has 100 hits, and the bigger percentage of his you have as HRs the better though. Check out his hitting chart at the cell or as I call it the sea of blood at third. He is a one dimensional pull monkey. If you want to shut him down and the rest of the squad spot a fastball on the outside corner. He will try and pull it, no matter how outside. Check out master Crede there. He had a typical pull monkey AB. Spinning around on one knee. This is what happens when a person trys to pull and outside pitch. If you go up there and try and hit the outside pitch up the middle and to center you are much better off. But hey Kong hits a lot of homers. So he must be good.
  9. Can someone, for the love of god, with 2 strikes please not try and take a full home run cut.
  10. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Since when do fans rate players a the games? Fans cheer for Paul Konerko because they want him to succeed. But I am referring to the fans who completly bash Konerko for this contrived reasons. They have built a strawman and named him Konerko and boy can they tear that strawman down. 9 million dollars for a man who only hits homers and struggles with men on.
  11. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) Konerko's splits are beyond bizarre. Although he is hitting .245 with RISP he is slugging .531 which is great. He is hitting .316 with runners on 1st and 2nd. He is hitting .400 with runners on 1st and 3rd. He is hitting .375 with runners on 2nd and 3rd and .375 with the bases loaded. He is hitting .368 with a runner on third and less than two out. He is hitting .340 close and late which means 7th inning or later up a run, tied, or the tying run is on deck. Then of course you have his .042 with a runner on third. .145 with scoring position and 2 out and a bunch of splits smattered all over the .200s. There is a ton of good and a good deal of bad too. Overall his offensive numbers, however, are undeniably good. As well as he has been a .300 hitter for over 2 months now. Of course for many on this board they are incapable of interpreting his numbers and revert to the he is selfish, he tries to pull a homerun every at bat. He just plays for stats, he doesn't come through in the clutch and all of this. I remember when he was hitting .249 I must have seen ten people cite that he can't even hit .250. Even though he is a .277 career hitter and could easily finish at that level or above. The reality Paulie is a guy who has played hard for us for 5 seasons and has been a very productive offensive player. He is also as good as anyone in the majors at first base when it comes to picking it and throwing it. His range is below average, but he is a good defender. After a slow start he is having another very good season. Sure he is a pull hitter, but that doesn't mean he is selfish. He is a guy who has given his all to this team and deserves more repsect than he gets from the fans. He isn't going to be like Manny Ramirez and come through with clutch RBIs at an enormous rate. But he certainy is a guy who can give you a lot of offense and good defense at first base. He is a number 4 hitter. His job is to drive in the guys who are on base. That is his job. So when you have bad BA with RISP and 65 RBIS and a third of them are due to you running around the bases on your dongs its not good. He chokes more than he should with men in scoring position. If he would take a few minutes to shorten up his swing with 2 strikes. But hey if you are a fan of lots of homers, low BA, and high strikeouts we should immortalize Rob Deer.
  12. So far smartball is not existant tonight. A few times we have men on in scoring position and less than 2 outs. They dont score. The only way we have scored tonight is via the dong.
  13. QUOTE(BamaDoc @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) While the media is on to smart ball, I feel we have become much more dependant on the long ball. Any stat people able to give percantage of runs via long ball over the months? For the year its 40%.
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) Couldn't get Gooch in from 3rd with 1 out earlier, and now this. But hey, 1 out of 3 ain't bad. With all of the RBI chances Pauly has had, 1/3 of his RBIs are his slow ass jogging around the bases. Softball player.
  15. Konerko is clutch again. Take your long term contract and your bad BA with RISP and find another sucker to pay you 10 million a year.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) Duque's still in. When is Ozzie going to actually try and save a pitcher's arm for the stretch run? He is letting his 40 year old pitcher start an inning with 97 pitches. He will be back on the DL before september.
  17. That was a nice corpseball sequence to Crede. 3-0 and he swings at a pitch on the outside corner to barely knick it. Next pitch he takes on the outside corner. Then swings a a slider in the dirt on the outside. Swing a a 3-0 pitch if its something you can murder. Not that you barely knick the outside fastball.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) I'd rather face the starter than the guys in the Blue Jays bullpen. Dye just had a great pitch to hit before, and popped up. I love it when you see a high outside pitch and our guys try to pull and elevate it.
  19. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) No, one homer doesn't change my view on a player. That was a big hit but I don't change on a whim like that. 65 RBIs and one sac Fly from our number 4 hitter. There is no reason to change your view. With all of the opps he has had. He should have 80 RBIS.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) PK!!!! I didn't think that was a homer off the bat at all. Just a short, quick swing without trying to pull the ball. SSI must be happy. I would be happy if we were scoring our guys from 2nd with nobody out. Our team is a homer or nothing team at home.
  21. You want to shut this team down at the cell. Get a guy who barely hits 90 and have him spot a fastball on the outside corner. They will crap their pants trying to park every single pitch into the stands no matter what the situation.
  22. Can we get a runner in please. I mean we cant hit for average, so when we do get a guy in scoring position it would be nice to get a single here and there. We dont need to park one. When the sox come home and there are good crowds its 2000 corpseball offense. Everyone wants to score 5 runs on every swing. Popups, ground outs, and Ks with men in scoring position oh my.
  23. QUOTE(jamslam @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) Are you kidding , Gooch lead off double and 3-4-5 can't hit a ball out of the infield At Baltimore we hit the ball the other way. We went with the pitch. We went deep into counts. We get home and the morons are trying to park every single pitch into the stands. They forget how to hit situtationally.
  24. rooney and farmio said out of Paulies 63 RBIs only one of those are via a SAC fly. What does that tell u.
