  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) Iguchi gets one back. I like him a lot when he actually gets to hit. Thats why if we ever got Vizquel you would have Vizquel bat 2nd and then have gooch bat down in the lineup and let him swing away. If he got to swing away he is hitting over 300 with a lot more power.
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) Ya seriously if we lose this series with our 3-4-5 going we should seriously consider removing ourselves from the league. Garcia is no longer our number 2???? Someone forgot to post that memo.
  3. Hey Freddy. I know its early and you got your hangover going and all but pitch like you have a pair. FOCKER
  4. Whats with Garcia being the f***ing mental midget in the first inning every game.
  5. QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) I swear to God I hate watching Garcia the first two innings of a game. AJ should kick him in the Jimmy before he goes out on the mound.
  6. Games on. Freddy gives up a single right off the bat. Now Freddy cant find the plate and is behind the next hitter.
  7. The pregame show drives me nuts. Ozzie is on with Rooney. Ozzie said "Timo is the guy on the bench we can count on most." Is this why Timo played some first last night. I dont care if its anyone, but please get someone outside of a 5'5 midget to play 1st. Having Timo pinch hit, sure. Having Timo play OF, well its not the best, having him play anywhere else is stupid.
  8. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) Jason Schmidt is crap outside of a Giants uniform and always has been.... HE IS NO LONGER ON STEROIDS HE'S NOT AN ACE! THE FACT IS THAT HE WOULD HAVE AN ERA WELL OVER 6 IN THE CELL... But Felix Diaz will thank you when he's back on the team because either he or El Duque is injured... Man i'm sick of you bandwagon fans who don't follow baseball who bring up stupid trade ideas just because the guys name is famous... NO MATTER HOW MUCH WORSE HE IS THEN ANYTHING WE HAVE... I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO JUST IGNORE IT BUT YOU GUYS ARE PISSING ME OFF, SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT! JASON SCHMIDT IS OVER, AND IF IT WASN'T FOR BEING INTRODUCED TO BERRY BONDS AND BALCO HE NEVER WOULD OF BEEN! PLEASE GET A FREAKIN' CLUE!
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) I understand that but we've beaten up some very good bullpens this year, Angels included. I know they didn't have krod when we played them but Scot Shields is no slouch. I think the guys we have are very capable of situational hitting outside of Uribe. He is way to impatient at times. Last night he got the job done with the ground out. But he swung at the first pitch that came near the plate. He got lucky that they were playing back on that one. They need to work counts better, take a few more walks, and put the ball in play without a long arch on it. We all love home runs just as much as anyone, but the home runs dont come all the time in the playoffs. We are a small ball team with some power. We need to maximize OBP and maximize our chances with men on. Too many times this year we have men on in scoring position with no outs only to get none out of the inning. Usually its a big strikeout that starts the bailout of the other team. Crede has been hitting better lately. AJ needs to go back to what he was when he was with the twins and that was an all fields hitter. He has been pulling the ball too much lately. This of course is why he has his career high in homers already in mid July. Konerko has $$$ on his mind, so he is hopeless on the pull for homer theory. Carl and Thomas will be fine. Dye has been hitting better. Arow needs to go to right more. Uribe wont change. Maybe if we could play Ozuna more. Uribe plays better when his starting job is up for grabs.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) Whatever the A's are doing we're doing better considering we've scored more runs then them. We have scored a ton of runs for years. It doesnt make our offense consistent.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) I just went and looked it up, I didn't realize how bad he has been. The last week 2-19 .105 ba .190 obp .316 slg .590 ops 2bb 7k For the season the clutch numbers are just as bad .240 risp .125 risp 2 out .176 close and late .214 runners on .083 runners on 2 out .429 runner on 3rd Frank is feeling for the strikezone right now. When you see those excuse me check swing slap hits to the right side, or him backing off like crazy from an inside pitch like it was near his head, he is reaching. He has done this before, its a minor thing that needs to get fixed. When he stands statuesque in the box and doesnt move at all, then he is dangerous. This team has a few months to get better at situational hitting. On 2-0 you should have a zone locked in that you are taking a hard swing at. Some of those 2-0 swings were on low outside pitches. On 2-0 they should be looking center in. If its low and away take it. The count is still in your favor. On 0-2 they need to take a clue from the A's and shorten their swing up a bit and put the ball in play. We have been great this year in making things happen, if you put the ball in play you have a better chance than if you K.
  12. Schmidt throwing 94 is better than Conteras throwing 94. They get Schmidt and Vizquel this team is set. Jenks is throwing the ball like a focking beast. This team would be set.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) I'll say this again, if Jose throws like he did today(meaning he has good control) he won't get hit hard very much, he'll be pretty dominating for the most part. Some times you just have to tip your cap to the opposition and this is one of those cases, they hit a pitcher hard that usually doesn't get hit. Lets see how he does with the bosox.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) I completely agree but with Bobby's history I'd prefer to take it slower with him, don't want to mess his mind up again, he's got to special of an arm to mess with his head. Now, if Dustin does go down and Bobby proves he can just absolutely dominate then sure give him a shot but that's only if he proves what he can do up here for a while and if Dustin's hurt. Hermy doesn't throw 100 like Bobby but he's blown 1 save and has been absolutely fantastic, he shouldn't lose his job because of an injury. I think Bobby is going to do fine mentally. I would rather if he was the first guy out of the pen to get his feet wet. His control looked good tonight. His only bad control night was with Oakland who makes everyone look like they have no control.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) That's an interesting article. They really love Bobby, there's nothing not to love about his arm, if he throws strikes the way he did he's going to be outstanding. Problem with making him the closer this year is most likely he'll have some growing pains but who the hell knows, stranger things have happened. Well we have a nice big lead in our division. And you can make mistakes with a 99-100 mph fastball that you cant make with a 53 mph frisbee. If he doesnt walk the world, he can be filthy in a short set.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) Reading tomorrow's tribune article, it looks like Jenks might be the closer sooner, rather than later. Lets be honest. 97-100 mph fastball and a nasty 12-6 curve. If he shows the control he had tonight its not a big jump. Hermy has done a great job this year. But Jenks is the closer of the future. If he takes the role and runs with it, we could have a very very nasty bullpen.
  17. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) Tonight was the first time I got to see Jenks throw and I was pretty impressed. Does he have the potential to be a starting pitcher sometime in his career? He is our closer of the future. He was a starter but put a lot of stress on that elbow and had pins and a few surgeries on it.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) He isn't pitching on Sunday is he? If so, my head will EXPLODE at the ballpark. He is pitching Sunday. Bring some pepto-bismo.
  19. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) I strongly agree. Detroit just beat him tonight. He was K'ing guys and getting ahead in the count. Despite getting roughed up, I'd say it was a good outing. God we are lowering the bar on what a good outing is. 5.2 innings, 94 pitches, 8 hits 7 runs 4ks. I am sure Felix Diaz gave us similiar numbers last year in the same situation. We will see what the Count is made of by the weekend. Hopefully he brings his fastball and his manhood and challenges the hitters. If he gives up another 4 to 5 inning 7+ earned run affair, maybe we can find another silver lining. He kept the Ortiz bomb off the concourse.
  20. The whole Bmac portion of this thread is dumb. He is a prospect. What will make him a break out prospect is one of two things. Either he gains some weight in those legs and maybe gets a few mph on his fastball which will make its straightness a non issue. Or he will work on getting some movement and get better control in the strikezone. He is 21. He can become the next incarnation of Mark Prior or the next Felix Diaz. Time will only tell. Conteras however is a mental midget. The frustrating thing is his talent. He has million dollar talent with a 10 cent head. His career 13.50ERA against the Bosox will be tested over the weekend.
  21. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) Contreras is having a better season than Burnett or Schmidt and he's way better than McCarthy. So unless we're getting Roger Clemens, I'll stick with Jose, even though he does frustrate at times. Well the Counts next start is against his favorite team, the BoSox. This will give us a good barometer of how far he has truly come.
  22. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) The HR number is very, very troubling; however, if Adkins' name is even being discussed by the Sox brass--which it very well may not--Embree deserves a serious look. Adkins v. Embree ...gimme Embree. NO EMBREEE
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) You know this how? He never gives his inside WhiteSox source
  24. Its odd that so many managers have problem with this turd of an umpire. Now when Ozzie gets into it with him, its just Ozzie being crazy. But when Gardy gets into with him, its a story on ESPN. Hopefully the MLB gets on Hunter and tells him that he isnt the show, people do not pay money to see him. Gardy sounds like Ozzie here
