  1. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) How long before Shingo gets called back up? I say 5 days. Byung Yung Kim isnt coming back.
  2. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) Designated for Assignment means sent to Charlotte. He still has options left. STUPID MOVE. JENKS AINT NO UPGRADE OVER SHINGO! Shingo in the bandbox of Charlotte. YIKES. Dongs will be flying out in AAA.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) He has options remaining. He won't have to pass through waivers. If he has options then great. I was afraid he was out of options and had to be put on waivers.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) Actually, I believe the player has to be on the active roster at least 1 hr before gametime to be able to play so I think it is 6:05... Probably. I just hope they dont put Gload on waivers. I have a funny feeling someone will grab him.
  5. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) probably another hour. If it doesn't go through what do the sox do? Send Jenks down. 7.05 CST is when a roster move has to happen to let El Duque back on the roster.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) Hawkins-4.55 ERA .254 BAA 1.38 WHIP In SF 6.75 ERA .262 BAA Shingo 5.97 ERA 1.60 WHIP .270 BAA Their stats are pretty close, with Shingo performing better in June with a .133 BAA. It would just be a swap, with us losing a player and losing a piece of what has made us a first place team. I think its just making a move to make a move. Shingo is a piece of what has made us a first place team????? Shouldnt that be in green.
  7. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) Plus Iguchi is already starting to struggle. I spent about 3 months in Hungary and it helped to have my Cousin there with me because i had no idea how to speaky Hungarian. Plenty of japanese people in chicago plus I think they can find someone to translate. It didnt hurt Shingo last year when he was the only japanese player on the team.
  8. First thing is that Shingo and Gooch didnt know each other before this season. They played in different leagues in Japan. Gooch chose the sox because not because of the japanese player on this team, it was because they gave him the best offer. Not a lot of teams took a flier on him. If someone gave him the money he originally wanted, Gooch would of been on that team.
  9. This is why this guy got canned as a GM. Rick WHite? Good lord. I think I would give Billy Koch a try before I would let Rick White near the AL. Kyle (Wolcott, CT): Who do you think is the best bargain out there right now in terms of who is available for a trade before the deadline? SportsNation Steve Phillips: (12:46 PM ET ) If I'm a team looking for bullpen help, I would look at Rick White. He knows he's going to a contending team and I like his toughness and versatility. He would be a good pickup and probably nost cost much to get.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) Especially when you consider one of the anchors of our pen is himself a horrificially failed closer in Cliff Politte. Plus AJ reuniting with Hawkins could be a good thing. If anyone remembers what Hawkins did as a good relief pitcher its AJ.
  11. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) Marlins = suckers if that trade goes down. I dont know who is the sucker if that trade goes down. They both are getting bent over on that one. Heres my crap, I will take your crap. Lets make a crap sandwich . :headshake :puke
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) f*** no, and I dont want to hear the s*** from cubs fans about how we bought their garbage, please please please dont do this KW I could care less what focking cubs fans think. The psycho pitcher tackling 100mph farnsworth is having a great year once he left that cancerous team known as the flubs. Maybe its about the team.
  13. QUOTE(Jimenez4MVP @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) Why cause hes a former Cub and Twin? Everyone is screaming no when Hawkins is a very good reliever that could help our team. As long as he is not in the closers role, he will help our team out, lookin at his stats prove that. We dont need him to close, but he is lights out as a set up man.. 7- Politte 8- Hawkins 9- Hermanson That looks real good to me Flip that around. Hawkins Politte Hermanson
  14. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) The Levine interview so far has been s***. We have learned absolutely nothing. Levine ripping on Skip Bayless for not being a good writer. LMAO at this. Kettle Meet Mr. Pot.
  15. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) David (Lincoln): Steve, if your in Kenny Williams' position what would you do? The key to the Sox success has been their depth and they have a few players coming back from injuries to help further the depth (Hernandez, Marte, Gload). I guess my view is really only to move unless you see something big because the chemistry on the team has been fantastic. Steve Phillips: (12:28 PM ET ) Williams has done a tremendous job. I have so much appreciation for what he has done. He had a vision, put a plan in place, executed and now they are managing it as good as can be. The White Sox should consider either adding complimentary pieces .. middle relief depth, bat off the bench, etc. ... or a significant, All-Star caliber player .. possibly a closer, like Billy Wagner, if he becomes available. To add any other pieces might be risky. But I think they need to do something. Teams that don't make moves because of chemistry have logic for their plan, but players look around and see other teams getting better. If a team doesn't make a move, the teams feels like everyone is catching up. Even a small move makes you feel like you are moving forward. The only other spot that is a ? is 3B. Joe Randa might be a consideration. Randa would be nice addition to this team with Crede's back problems. But not for a kings ransom.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) I think the first two for sure, then Crede if the deal involves Lowell, and I would guess Carl or Rowand If a that's the rough sketch of any deal that is WAY to much and I would rather see the Sox wait and see if a few more teams fall out of it before July 31st and open up more names on the market I wouldnt give up more than the Count and Marte for the AJ rental. Rowand or Carl is way too much. We need Carl as insurance. We dont need to be in the injury place we were last year. Carl seems fine with his role and gives us a great option.
  17. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) ^ just because he's the best pitcher on the market, doesn't neccesarily make him *THAT good. our rotation is fine how it is. If we can find a deal, then fine, take it. Not worth overpaying for something we really don't need. I'm wiling to overpay for a utility infielder and a reliever, not a shady starter Well the Count will get to pitch against Boston. That should be the best barometer for how far he has come. They are a team that absolutely has PWNED him big time and someone we will face in the playoffs possibly.
  18. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) One of the Giants beat writers was on the flagship station and report that the Whitesox&Giants are talking about a Shingo& middle prospect for Latroy Hawkins.. KW is smoking the wacky weed if this is the case. The only way this would work out is if AJ and Coop are sure they can return this guy back to what he was with Minny.
  19. First caller (a dumb cubs fan) Uhhhh Uhhhh Something in the paper. Uhhh Uhhh The marlins are sliding, I dont think they are sliding, Something about the cubs getting Juan Pieeree... Uhhhh Silvy wets himself getting all excited. Next question. Can we take a sox caller please. We dont care about who will be playing CF for the flubs.
  20. Okay Silvy, we dont care about your flubbys. And no one cares about Sosa. Next Topic for Bruuuuuce.
  21. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) So Buster is in the dark like we are, go figure. Well with a 1920's handle like Buster you can see how he is in the dark.
  22. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) really well lefties are batting .239 against him. Keep him. He had a bad outing against a team that owns him. He pitched great against Texas also. Maybe they also PWN him. I have this stinking thought that Boston will PWN him also. And probably the Yanks.
  23. After watching a bad Al Leither PWNED the boston team I am less worried. Mark Buerhle is a much much much better version of AL Leiter and should PWN them also.
  24. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) Thats what ESPN 1000 repored at 10:20 update... Not to sure how accurate Levine is since I only live in Chicago 4 months out of the year Oh he will hit one from time to time. Its just a matter of the odds. But I love it when during the offseason we had someone coming to the whitesox and confirmed on the internet by other news sources and then half way through the Hot Stove Edition of Talking Baseball Bruuuce Levine would come up with his ESPN 1000 exclusive. You heard it here first he said. I actually read it first on rotoworld, foxsports.com, espn and about a 100 other outlets.
