  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) So Buster is in the dark like we are, go figure. Well with a 1920's handle like Buster you can see how he is in the dark.
  2. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) really well lefties are batting .239 against him. Keep him. He had a bad outing against a team that owns him. He pitched great against Texas also. Maybe they also PWN him. I have this stinking thought that Boston will PWN him also. And probably the Yanks.
  3. After watching a bad Al Leither PWNED the boston team I am less worried. Mark Buerhle is a much much much better version of AL Leiter and should PWN them also.
  4. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) Thats what ESPN 1000 repored at 10:20 update... Not to sure how accurate Levine is since I only live in Chicago 4 months out of the year Oh he will hit one from time to time. Its just a matter of the odds. But I love it when during the offseason we had someone coming to the whitesox and confirmed on the internet by other news sources and then half way through the Hot Stove Edition of Talking Baseball Bruuuce Levine would come up with his ESPN 1000 exclusive. You heard it here first he said. I actually read it first on rotoworld, foxsports.com, espn and about a 100 other outlets.
  5. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) I think he will be staying with the White Sox. He had 1 bad outing against a team that owns him. It's stupid to trade him. 36 years old, cant get lefties out and is afraid to put hitters away. Trade him, and get something for him now. Before Byung Yung Kim reappears in the playoffs.
  6. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) Bruce Levine thinks Shingo could be going to SF Bruce Levine is about as accurate as carpet bombing.
  7. I am wondering if Arizona will find 12 nice brand new baseballs and a bag to send to us for Shingo. Maybe we should have them ship it on our fedex account number. If they have to pay for shipping also it may queer the deal.
  8. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) I'm fine with him saying the White Sox aren't the best team they've faced this season. Hell, in many respects, I agree with him. But, to say the Indians are a better team? Yikes. Drinking that Lake Erie swamp water must have an effect on the locals.
  9. Anyone remember Youngstown Indians fan in the first week of the season making his predictions. I HAVE A PREDICTION FOR YOU, INDIANS ARE PWNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. OOOOOHHHH EEEEEE OOOOOOHHHH f**GGLIOOOOOO
  11. Jizzcan and Dingo have officially f***ing wet the bed.
  12. Great idea for this subforum. We should keep this going in the offseason for the hotstove action also.
  13. Silly Injuns and their wantabee gangbanging hat tilting things. Put your focking hat on straight and act like men and maybe you can play like big leagers.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) He has played 11 games at 1b in his career. Only 4 of them did he start. Yeah, he's probably a better option there than Dye, but seriously, are you going to call him a regular backup there? He is an actual infielder which gives him an advantage over Dye. In my world, Randa is a better option than Crede even before the bad back. The injury is just a good reason to get him without everyone getting into a bunch over it.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) From what I hear (and this is total rumor) they refinanced the home they already own together to do this. No effing way I would do this. No way.. There are other ways to spend your money. Get season tickets, go to spring training, go to a bunch of games, soxfest etc. The wedding is cute and the pub is nice but there is a lot better ways to spend your money on sox fandom. I got lucky with my wedding costs. We were going to pay for the whole thing ourselves. I had everything paid off and on the night of my reception my father and my in-laws gave us checks that pretty much covered the entire thing. We took the money and my wife's condo which we sold and used it as a down payment for our house.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) This trade market, as of July 15th, does not look very attractive at all. For example -- making a move for a guy like Burnett/Schmidt, would that really help us? Burnett is extremely injury prone, and Schmidt isn't fully healthy right now either. Plus, you'd be giving up Marte, a key part of the bullpen. A week ago, I would have been really for KW getting a Lilly/Day type to fill Vizcaino's spot as long reliever, but Toronto is still in the WC race, and Day's been traded. So I basically took my mind off of those two. I guess, if Crede's back is bad, Joe Randa should be looked at. I don't think a veteran like Randa would mind being a platoon player with Crede, possibly more with the potential of Crede going on the DL -- and, only for a half a season on the best team in baseball. He could make a deal -- but does he really have to? Honestly now, as much as we b**** about Contreras, he's our #4, and doing a damn good job of it, too. Everybody knew El Duque wouldn't last the whole season -- he's here to be a big part of the stretch run, and (hopefully) a playoff run too. All in all, I hope he doesn't make a deal just for the sake of making a deal. You can always upgrade the bullpen, and Vizcaino's spot needs an upgrade -- so I look for something to be done there. But other than that, I don't think anything needs extreme improvement. I am sure that Joe Randa can play 1st base also. So there you can shift him between 3rd and 1st. This becomes a nice situation. He is insurance for Crede and can spell Konerko. He is hitting .300 now and provides a nice right handed bat and a good hitter against lefties.
  17. Glavine :puke :puke :puke I think I vomitted in my mouth after seeing him linked at all to the whitesox. NO, NO and HELLLL NO
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 08:49 AM) It was said months ago that Gload probably wouldn't be able to play the OF all year because of his shoulder problems. Ozzie has also said that he wants someone who can play the OF. And after watching Dye serve as a decent backup in limited action, it made sense that Gload really wasn't needed. Who needs a lefty line drive all field hitting actual backup first baseman. Our team is filled with guys who make contact over swinging for the fence
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 06:06 AM) Yeah. So far every stupid move Kenny and Ozzie have made has worked out. Why not this one? BTW, it wasn't until this article I noticed all our All-Stars are white. So maybe Gload could be their translator. It would be so cool if we could create a Timo Harris. The incredible sucking vortex of that would consume light like a black hole. And one final thought. This team is living on chemistry as much as talent. Perhaps management knows a few things here that would have this make sense. It isn't necessarily having the best 25 out of 25. Maybe having the best 25 out of 30 and having teamwork excel is making a difference. I hightly doubt that Willie is part of the teams chemistry.
  20. Conteras has the talent. If he can throw his fastball more and get that forkball near the strikezone he will be great. Its when he decides to abandon his fastball and throw a bunch of forkballls in the dirt that he pitches badly.
  21. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Ross Gload will remain at Triple-A Charlotte for now, thanks to the emergence of Timo Perez as a valuable left-handed pinch-hitter and the recent three-day All-Star break. The Sox postponed activating Gload, a left-handed-hitting first baseman-outfielder, because Perez finished the first half 6-for-10, including a pair of pinch-hit doubles. Manager Ozzie Guillen also believes the recent break gave first baseman Paul Konerko a rest, although Konerko played in Tuesday's All-Star Game as a reserve. "When we feel it's time to get help, I think we will," Guillen said Thursday. "It's not easy to make that decision, but right now we just want to go with what we have. "There are a couple Latin kids who look up to Timo, and all of a sudden Timo has a job (pinch-hitting) that's not easy to do. His average (.250) isn't like it was last year, but Timo had more at-bats last year. Timo can play all three outfield positions and pinch-hit." Guillen acknowledged third baseman Joe Crede's lower back problems played a role in retaining infielder Willie Harris, who has a minor-league option. Gload's rehab assignment is scheduled to end Monday. What a dumb f***ing move. Willie sucks. I can live with Ozzie keeping his boyfriend and all. But bring Gload up. The guy is raking in AAA and played a good first base for us last year. He is a natural line drive hitter who hits the ball to all fields. He is exactly what we need on this team right now. I understand if our offense was doing good, but after watching our offense get shut down tonight and we get bailed out by our pitching again, its time to get a pure hitter up here. Someone who isnt going to swing for the fences. I am sickened by this article. Now what happens on Monday when Gload is done with his rehab assignment. Do they put him on waivers because of manlove for Timo or the reluctance to send Willie down. If they put him on waivers someone will snatch him. If Crede is this hurt put his ass on the DL and bring someone up or trade and get someone. This is silly that we will possibly lose a good hitter because of this crap. Maybe Gload should change his name to Gloadriguez.
  22. Well our offense stunk pre allstar game. The hitters rested, got their minds straight, and proceeded to pick up with the crapness that they left off at. This offense has a few months to figure out how to hit before we get to the playoffs. This type of offensive production will get us a 1 and done in the playoffs. No matter how good our pitching is, Boston and the Angels will at least score a run or two.
  23. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) While I agree that moving a hot hitter up in the order is sometimes necassary, I think If you move Dye up then the bottom half of the order will lack alot of punch. Sometimes its good to spread the wealth, IMHO. Dye isnt suffering for it. I would rather have Dye hitting with the two guys up front and Mr. OBP Thomas on base instead of the Rally Killer GIDP because he is trying to park the first pitch into the stands. Konerko can work on his swing at the number 5 role and still get plenty of chances to strand runners.
  24. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Ive been thinking the same thing. They should have Rowand batting sixth and Dye hitting 5th. Dye should be batting 4th. He has been hot over the last month and a half. Konerko is a pull monkey homer or nothing machine right now. He either K's, pulls the ball to the SS or 3rd baseman or hits it out of the park. Methinks the $$$$ of power numbers have completely clouded Paullys hitting philosophy this year.
