QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Ross Gload will remain at Triple-A Charlotte for now, thanks to the emergence of Timo Perez as a valuable left-handed pinch-hitter and the recent three-day All-Star break. The Sox postponed activating Gload, a left-handed-hitting first baseman-outfielder, because Perez finished the first half 6-for-10, including a pair of pinch-hit doubles. Manager Ozzie Guillen also believes the recent break gave first baseman Paul Konerko a rest, although Konerko played in Tuesday's All-Star Game as a reserve. "When we feel it's time to get help, I think we will," Guillen said Thursday. "It's not easy to make that decision, but right now we just want to go with what we have. "There are a couple Latin kids who look up to Timo, and all of a sudden Timo has a job (pinch-hitting) that's not easy to do. His average (.250) isn't like it was last year, but Timo had more at-bats last year. Timo can play all three outfield positions and pinch-hit." Guillen acknowledged third baseman Joe Crede's lower back problems played a role in retaining infielder Willie Harris, who has a minor-league option. Gload's rehab assignment is scheduled to end Monday. What a dumb f***ing move. Willie sucks. I can live with Ozzie keeping his boyfriend and all. But bring Gload up. The guy is raking in AAA and played a good first base for us last year. He is a natural line drive hitter who hits the ball to all fields. He is exactly what we need on this team right now. I understand if our offense was doing good, but after watching our offense get shut down tonight and we get bailed out by our pitching again, its time to get a pure hitter up here. Someone who isnt going to swing for the fences. I am sickened by this article. Now what happens on Monday when Gload is done with his rehab assignment. Do they put him on waivers because of manlove for Timo or the reluctance to send Willie down. If they put him on waivers someone will snatch him. If Crede is this hurt put his ass on the DL and bring someone up or trade and get someone. This is silly that we will possibly lose a good hitter because of this crap. Maybe Gload should change his name to Gloadriguez.

Well our offense stunk pre allstar game. The hitters rested, got their minds straight, and proceeded to pick up with the crapness that they left off at. This offense has a few months to figure out how to hit before we get to the playoffs. This type of offensive production will get us a 1 and done in the playoffs. No matter how good our pitching is, Boston and the Angels will at least score a run or two. -

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) While I agree that moving a hot hitter up in the order is sometimes necassary, I think If you move Dye up then the bottom half of the order will lack alot of punch. Sometimes its good to spread the wealth, IMHO. Dye isnt suffering for it. I would rather have Dye hitting with the two guys up front and Mr. OBP Thomas on base instead of the Rally Killer GIDP because he is trying to park the first pitch into the stands. Konerko can work on his swing at the number 5 role and still get plenty of chances to strand runners. -

QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Ive been thinking the same thing. They should have Rowand batting sixth and Dye hitting 5th. Dye should be batting 4th. He has been hot over the last month and a half. Konerko is a pull monkey homer or nothing machine right now. He either K's, pulls the ball to the SS or 3rd baseman or hits it out of the park. Methinks the $$$$ of power numbers have completely clouded Paullys hitting philosophy this year. -

Any word on if Ross Gload is getting activated. I havent seen anything on this or the roster move that would be required. -
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) you want something big, you gotta give something big. I'd take a downgrade at 3b for burnett. definitely I am not a Lowell fan by any means. But If I remember correctly he does pretty well in the playoffs. And he hit .250 in June and .290 so far in July. He had a terrible April and May. His overly pull hitting doesnt fit in my personal hitting philosophy but he hits very well against lefties(.313 BA with a .903 OPS). I would take AJ over Conteras any day of the week. AJ can be the 4th start in the playoffs and is someone that would give us the best 1-4 in the bigs.

The wait on these trades is starting to remind me of the hot stove action in the winter after the FA's started to sign. LETS GO KENNY, OZZIE AND THE KIDS HAVE DONE THEIR PART. LETS GET THAT FINAL PIECE TO THE PUZZLE AND LETS MAKE A RUN.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) So, he's fair game. I'd have to say something to him that would probably get me kicked out of the park. The guy looks pretty much like this, except sitting near a Tee Pee and banging on bongos. -

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) We're staring 4L right in the face. That depends on which Contreras shows up. The Man Is it the contreras that works a bit faster, uses his fastball to offset his forkball. This guy gets ahead of most of the hitters and lets his stuff bail him out. or The Bed Wetter Is it the contreras that throws fastalls until someone hits one hard, then retreats into his shell and shakes off any pitch that isnt a forkball. Walks 3 guys to load the bases then grooves a fastball down the plate. His pitch count is like 61 after 2 innings. -

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:06 AM) Does Ozzie have any more nieces ready for marraige?? I think our best bargaining chip is not Ozzie's niece but one of the fundamental girls.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) I need a better understanding of why they play baseball, is it to win the world series? How many times do we have a team like this? I mean a legit chance with real good pitching? The Twins are not the same this year, and the Tribe may only be two pitchers away next year.Time to strike. Screw the farm. Remember- Borchard, myette, olivo, stumm, wing, Ruffcorn, Snopek,Rauch, Caruso,Pearson,Scott Christman, MarK Johnson,Leifer,Dallearo,Honel, Tim Hulet, Joel Skinner, Kenny Williams,JimSiwy,Tony Menendez, Russ Morman, Tom Forrester,Ken Patterson, Melido Perez,Adam Peterson,Johnny Ruffin, Ramon Garcia,Rod Bolton,Brandon Wilson,Steve Schrenk,Brian Boeringer,Jeff Abbott,Greg Norton,Luis Andujar,Mckay Christiansen, mario Valdez, Josh Paul,Tom Fordam,Brian Simmons,Lorenzo Barcelo, Jason Dellero, kevin Bierne, pat denaker,Matt Ginter,Brian West,Corwin malone, Dennis Ulacia,TIm Hummel,Felix Daiz, and on and on and and On. You see I had to hear about all these guys at one time or another being within our top prospect list. If your a blue chip prospect then keep them if not they all suck. Whats the percentage of the pitching prospects that are in the bunch above that had the dreaded "torn labrum" during the mad "torn labrum outbreak of the late 90's"

If they wanted to make money, they should have a fantasy camp that involves the fundamental girls.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) So what, does that mean he will remain that way? Teams won't figure him out in the second half? We are talking about improving a ballclub, putting the pieces into place. Quite frankly I really don't care one bit who hits where, I am not some 15 year old with a crush on a player. Get the players, and its OZZies job to put them where they belong. I will not lose sleep over Visquel hitting second instead of Iguchi. Will you? Doesnt anyone think that the gooch would rather hit somewhere else also. Somewhere he doesnt have to take 2 strikes or give himself up. Its a great effort and all, but I think he would hit further down in the order if he gets a chance to actually swing the bat.
-
QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) Then I suppose your on the side of not trying to improve this team, because we won't get a player unless we give up prospects. I think something like 9 out of 10 prospects don't make it. But don't tell that to all those Baj lovers out there. PS two years ago you wouldn't have traded Borchard to improve. Now look at him...He blows. Remember all the Miguel Olivo love last year and how we traded away the next version of pudge. This mini-pudge has spent most of his time going between the bigs and AAA. Prospects are just that. And plus with our track record of watching prospect after prospect wet themselves when they come up, who cares. I would rather good deep into the playoffs instead of having uber crap stain prospect number 10.

To get Kong to win this we could of brought Jizzcan with. Tell Jizzcan that this is a critical out in a critical game. Let the meatball express begin.

Abreu would look good in a whitesox uni. Kong could win this. He thinks everyday is a home run derby.

Oddly enough Arow was very hot at the point this article was done. Raising his average to .287, hitting .331 in a series of games. Then he decides he wants to make a change. Go for more power. This I would suggest is why his average and hits have gone down. Why change your focking swing in the middle of the season when you are doing well. Rowands Tinkering
