QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) i take it you do not like these umpires Remember the Oakland series, and Crede getting tossed. Widger playing third, Dye at SS. That was a product of this umping crew. Ozzie has been tossed out of games by this douche.
-
Whats the under/over of Ozzie getting tossed by Fatty Froemming or Hunter Dumbledork this series. I would say about 80%. Well its our turn to rotate the anti-ozzie umping team back into a series. In this series if a call or obscure ruling can go against the sox, it will. Tonight there was two strike zones. One for the herpes man, the other for any other sox pitcher. Fatty Froemming will be out of position the entire series. Umpires: HP--Jerry Meals. 1B--Mike Winters. 2B--Bruce Froemming. 3B--Hunter Wendelstedt. Wait till Hunter Dumbledork gets behind the plate to screw us big time. Thank god this is the royals and we should stomp on them.

Maybe thats how Lima got herpes. He ate to much s***.

QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) I don't think Randa is a poor defender, just not as good as Crede. My point was that one non-power bat isn't going to produce a whole lot of extra runs. The difference between .250 and .290 over the rest of the season is 12 hits (est. 300 ABs). The added offense from 12 extra hits is negligible. Likewise, the reduction in defense from Randa is negligible as well. It's a wash, basically. Therefore, with the team built around defense, it's wiser to stick with Crede. Contract negotiations are a different story, and I may agree with you on that, but that's for the offseason. There is more to this than just 12 hits. Crede has a problem putting the ball in play effectively at times. He pops up, strikes out, or grounds it to 3rd or SS. Hitting the ball to the right side to move a runner, being able to bunt a runner over, being able to make contact and lift the ball into the air for a sacrifice is what Randa brings to the table over Crede. Granted if someone groves a breaking pitch center in Crede will crush it. But if they throw it away he is dead meat. When the playoffs come its not like we will be in a slug fest. It may come down to execution. This is the place where crede is lacking. Sure he can catch a ball, but can he put the bat on the ball in situational hitting when we need him to. And my vote is no. He will pop up/k/or GO.

QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) Crede's defense is far more valuable than Randa's bat. The Sox play too many close games to give up any defense. The addition of one bat, which may hit 35 points higher, is not going to change that. Overall, the few extra runs that Randa could create would be negated by the few extra he gives up. Where did you get the idea that Randa wasnt a good defender. I hate when people just say, oh Randa will hit better but we will lose out in the glove depart. Check out fielding percentage numbers, range factor and other fielding stats. The guy has been for years a solid glove over at third. Just because you see Crede lay out a few times we think he is a gold glover. Its not the case. Randa gives us consistancy with the stick and he knows theleague. And remember how is Crede going to be when Boras negotiates during arbitration. How do you think that is going to go.

White Sox vs Buddy Bell's Royals 06/20/05

CRAZY LIMA TIME!!!!!!! This guy is a nutcase. It will be fun getting under this guys skin and watching him crumble. -
"The kid has a chance to make a mark for himself," said the White Sox general manager of McCarthy. "We cannot go through this back and forth all year, and [El Duque] has the information. I told him, 'You need to let me know right now if I can depend on you or whether I have to get someone else or I should bring this kid up.' "This is the big leagues. We aren't going to sit around and play guessing games from week to week." Hernandez's weekend tale took a strange turn between Saturday and Sunday's pregame. Both Williams and manager Ozzie Guillen mentioned that El Duque pronounced himself fit to pitch Monday night, despite some tightness in his trapezius muscle, when they talked to him yesterday afternoon. Following Saturday's exciting 5-3 victory over the Dodgers, Hernandez pulled Guillen aside and said that the situation had changed and he was now unavailable. That decision led to the return of McCarthy, and caused Williams' outward frustration Sunday. Hernandez, who is listed at 35 years old, declined comment, relaying a message through Ozzie Guillen Jr. that he agrees with his manager and GM's assessment of the injury. Unfortunately, the veteran hurler was not able to talk about Williams' challenge. It could mean a trip to the bullpen for El Duque. It could mean Hernandez, who is 7-2 with a 4.88 ERA, has to get healthy and get back on the mound as quickly as he can. "We will have to cross that road when we get there," Williams said. "It might be the bullpen [for El Duque]. It might be something where we have to make an adjustment, but the kid [McCarthy] has every opportunity to establish himself right here and right now." "I don't think it's serious, but it's a headache," Guillen added. "I don't want whenever Duque starts two or three games that we have to start thinking about what we are going to do and how he is. That's why we will let him rest, so he can come back strong."

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) Maybe because our players try to swing for the fences even more during these nationally broadcasted game? Just my theory. Uribe was swinging for the fences on 2 strikes with men on. Just make contact. Nice Manuel Lineup tonight. Instead of sitting hitters and players that kinda have been stinking, yet sit players who have been hitting great. -
*IF* The sox made it to the series....

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) I do not like this open stance of Crede's, it tends to make him commit early on pitches so he can try to drive the ball. Far be it for me to say because I am not Coach Tom Emanski but I wish he would move his left foot about six inches toward the plate and close the stance a bit. He can adjust the back leg however he needs it to get proper balance and allow his hands and hips to clear. Anyways. Actually you are on to something with the stance change. I would have him closed off more, so his back foot is more towards 3rd than his front foot. When he opens up his stance should be balanced and he can keep his hips closed more before they fly open. -
QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) I just caught the end of this anyone see the whole thing? People still listen or watch this guy? Rome is a moron, plain and simple. I would put Kotex boy and this guy in a fight for biggest tard on tv/radio.

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Crede bashers...I know 3b is traditionally a power position...but assuming his average can come up to around .250-.260 range.... and he hits 25+ doubles and 22+ home runs, 70 RBI and 70 Runs (his currently projected totals), I'd take that from my 9th place hitting, good-defending third sacker (8th out of 21 in qualified fielding percentage for 3b). I think everyone wouldnt mind cruddy if he was a bit more consistant. When he bats great for two weeks, then goes into a month or more long slump where he hits under 200, then hits good for a bit, then goes into another long slump. That is our problem. If he hit 260 I would be happy. But I havent seen him hit 260 yet. -
Bill Mueller could be traded to the White Sox

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) I'm betting Cincy would want less for Randa seeing as how they're not a contender. As much as I hate Crede, I can't justify giving up one of Politte/Cotts/Hermanson for Mueller. We will need the pen with the cuban connection pitching in the hot summer cell this year. -

Someone who can make contact at third for the love of god. -
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) Answer above. El Duque's WHIP has been horrible all season long. Sooner or later it was bound to catch up with him. He can't get lucky all the time. Photo of El Duque from tonights game

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) Have you seen the stats when AJ is catching Contreras compared to Widger. I'd like to think Widger has a better CERA than AJ when catching El Duque though. AJ gets in contreras's face. He yells at him, gets him going. If 8 million isnt enough of a reason to have the mental acumen of a 10 year old, yelling will help.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) Duque is still better than any of our 5 pitchers. I'll take it. Our offense though has gone back into a slump. Not according to Ozzie Guillen. He doesnt see the slump. The thinks the great for a game, bad for 2 is a good thing. Offense OK After struggling to score runs during the first two months of the season, the offense has improved to the point that manager Ozzie Guillen believes no changes are necessary right now. "I truly believe what we have here can do the job," Guillen said in response to a question as to whether the Sox would have to produce more runs in warmer weather. "We've been swinging the bats better the last two to three weeks." The Sox have scored six or more runs in six of their past 12 games.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) Contreras was hanging his splitter yesterday and that was pretty much it. He still needs to throw it though because no pitcher is going to survive by just throwing fastballs. I was at the game. And yes he hung his splitter. But he also missed his location on his fastball on hitter counts. They either jumped on first pitch or they got a hitters count and sat on a pitch.

QUOTE(Adam G @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Look at his last four outings: 5/16 vs. Texas: 2.2 IP, 6 ER *missed a start with bad shoulder* 6/3 vs. Cleveland: 6 IP, 4 ER 6/8 at Colorado: 6 IP, 4 ER 6/14 vs. Arizona: 4.2 IP, 6 ER These are not the types of outings that we need from Hernandez. Anyone think he's still nursing some sort of injury? He hasnt been walking as many guys the past two games (1 BB each), but the results just arent there this past month. Well when you get behind every hitter 2-0 and 3-1 and then have to come back with a 84mph express meatball with extra cheese it goes a long way. He and the other cuban head case need to get the sign, throw the ball, then get the ball back for the next pitch.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) I know exactly how he feels and it sucks the big one. After so much hard work to get back to full strength, all it takes is one movement of the shoulder and the injury comes back. This sucks. He is my type of hitter, line drives and uses the entire field. He has a good glove and can spell the mighty homer or nothing GIDP Pull-o-matic.
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) Maybe you guys criticizing Contreras should check out one of his games and look at his numbers every once in a while. The guy's been great all season. Both of our cuban pitchers need to trust our catchers and the game that they call. Both of them are steller when they get the ball, look for the sign, and hit the target. When they start to shake off the catcher, go 3 or 4 signs deep its going to be a long night.

QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Thats whats been getting me worried, Count and Hernandez doing the exact opposite. They always keep the game at an unbearable pace and throw too many pitches in the at bat. I wish the would be like Garland and try it Buerhle style, you'll be better off throwing strikes plus the defense won't fall asleep on you. LEARN IT. I dont know what Contreras' problem is, he is obiviously stubborn cause Coop and Ozzie tell him use the fastball use the fastball and he seems to always find his way back to a forkball that he is hoping the hitter will go through it. I give him his props on his good outings though, its hit or miss with this guy. Just give us a solid 5-6 innings and you can earn your 8 mil. sheesh My suggestion to these guys is take a look at Garland. El Duque has an 84mph fastball that he can rush up to 88 every so often. He relys on deception and a funky motion. That said he gets behind way too many hitters. Hey has done that all year long. He has been very lucky more than a few times getting into trouble only to get out of it with a pop up or GIDP. Now he is getting behind in the hot months of summer. That pop up is now flying out of the park. He doesnt have the stuff to get hitters out if he gets behind consisantly. This is only a preview of more to come from big bombings if he doesnt get ahead of some hitters. Sorry an 84mph meatball doesnt frighten hitters. Conteras needs a shrink. Last night at the cell his first pitch was at 96 on the gun at the park. Every single fastball was at 94. Live fastball. His problem is he gets behind also. When he gets behind he loses location and gets way to much of the plate. Also he falls in love with his splitter. He slows down and the game drags. They should ban him from behing able to shake the catcher off. Watching him or the other cuban shake off our catchers who have been responsible for calling some great games is a joke. Its like watching Kevin Costner turning to the hitter, 2 hitter and this guy is shaking me off, well here comes the duce. And teddy when you speak of me, speak well.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Yay Twins win. Now rant time. Our offense makes me so f***ing sick. Not gonna rely on the HR this year...my ass. We are gonna see a lot of CGs this year because we have 0 patience. You see our guys at 90 pitches through 5 while their counterpart has 60. :puke The demise of El Duque? We all knew the WHIP would get him someday. Has that day come? Twins are hard charging meanwhile we lose the first 2 of a long homestand where 8 W's is a must. Come on Jon gotta salvage a game or else I will really snap. If our hitters and that dolt of a hitting coach keep f***ing with swings when they are good this offense will be dead. The only thing that has been keep our offense going over the last month is Pods/Gooch and Arow. Arow and Gooch are now pull happy. Its ironic and all because that is totally against our hitting philosophy. I have little confidence that we can put together a good gameplan right now. Our guys are swinging for the fences. This is evident on the number of strikeouts opposing pitching has been putting on us lately. Forget shortening the swing and all, swing for the fences. Last year we would look like world beaters for a game and then struggle to score runs. Our runs were only scored on homers usually of the solo variety. Kind of sounds familiar. When we were in pitching duels in Colorado for the 1st two games we should of known this anemic offense was near a nice streak of crap. Then Byung Yung Kim shuts us down for a while, and that Stauffer guy shuts us down so we only score 1 run.
