  2. WIGERMANIA TONIGHT Wiger was on the radio earlier saying that Ozzie told him he would start. THEY BEST BE STOCKING UP ON FIREWORKS TONIGHT, WIGERMANIA IS GOING TO RUN OVER THE SNAKES
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) Aaron's Amigos are better. Hopefully we have a good walkup tonight.
  4. Just bought tickets online and will be going to help get some buts in the seats for the best team in baseball. FRANK WILL HOMER OFF OF TESTES TONIGHT. BOOK IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 06:48 AM) I think this is it exactly. 7 of his HRs have been hit at home. And off of the top of my head, just about all of them have been to somewhere between the BP sportsbar and into the visiting bullpen, all of which would have hit the baggie in Minnesota for doubles. He started pulling the baseball. More homers in the Cell, lower BA and more likely to ground out to the right side. On a great note this week he started to spray the ball again all over the park. We dont need him to hit homers, we need him to keep the line moving.
  6. Platoon Carl and Dye. Dye and Carl are a wash in defensive comparison. Carl has been hot as hell lately. I think the competition would be good and would keep them going.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) There's a big difference in a manager wanting to get a bench player into the game to stay fresh, and basically benching 1/3 of your regulars nearly every 3rd game. There's not another manager that comes close to this constant 3rd game tinkering like Ozzie does. Like someone just mentioned, I'm going to be livid if our lack of defense in the outfield costs us this game. If its in the gaps its a triple. Timo and Everett have no range. I can understand giving Dye a day off. But not Dye and Arow at the same time. You replace a single hitter in your lineup and rotate days off. You dont rotate 3 or more of your starters off. Especially after you lost last night.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Honestly, how many other teams do you see bench 3 regular starters nearly every 3rd game of the series? Aren't you giving the other team just a huge advantage? Also, our defense in the outfield tonight might be the worst in the history of the Sox. And he puts the only hitters who at least have been consistant over the last few weeks. Bench Cruddy, bench uribe. i can see those moves. But why bench productive hitters. But then again why would you ph Timo over Frank and Everett.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) My lineup prediction last night was shockingly close, and I was being a little sarcastic last night: - CF Pods - 2B Harris - RF Everett - 1B PK - AJP - LF Timo Uribe Crede Garcia Nothing like benching 3 starters in a game....again! Well Ozzie has to get his girlfriend in the game. This offense will get shut out today. No gooch, no arow and no dye. Nice focking lineup Ozzie, we we cant win every series with Sunday Manuel lineups.
  10. We have a roster spot open, why not call a reliever up. We are already one down and we dont trust a few Dingo and Viz to come into close games. We have been terrible with our backups and covering our asses this year due to injuries. Ozuna goes down after getting hit by pitch. We dont DL him, we just dont use him for 15 or more games. No backup 1st baseman. Now Marte is getting shut down for a bit and we are a reliever short. This is getting goofy.
  11. We also need to have our hitters start to shorten their swings up on 2 strikes. Too many times we are watching them with a full long cut trying to park the ball on 0-2. Only to swing at something in the dirt or over their head. Putting the ball in play is a hell of a lot more constructive than K'ing all the time. Look at our hitters strikeout numbers, its terrible. We have a bunch of guys at 40+ and Konerko has 50 already.
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) Actually Carlos was punchless in his 28 game streak. Juan Uribe had more extra base hits than he did over the same stretch of time. But Gene why would Arow who has been one of only consistant hitters make a change. He wants to go for power now? We need guys to hit more and make consistant contact.
  13. Enough of this tinkering with the swing crap. Arow has been hitting great. Now he wants to become a power hitter. TinkerTinker During the last 30 games, Rowand has knocked out 39 hits in 118 at-bats (.331) and raised his average from .235 to .287. He also hit .392 (20-for-51) during the recent 13-game stretch. Correct me if I am wrong, but if you get out in front of the ball more to get it up in the air. Is that or is that not Pulling the ball for more power. This is exactly what Carlos Lee did last year after his 28 game hitting streak. He was hitting doubles like crazy and then started going for pull and lift. Our offense is barely functioning outside of our top 3 guys. Now we have someone that wants to adjust his swing. Why break what is working.
  14. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) They need a guy that is a home run threat off the bench from the right side. We have enough jackasses taking home run swings already. How about a guy who can hit, put the ball in play, and has a level swing. I would rather have a line drive hitter now than any amount of home run hitters we could get. WHEN WILL URIBE, KONERKO, AND CRUDDY LEARN TO MAKE CONSTANT CONTACT. THIS PULL BASEBALL s*** IS DRIVING ME CRAZY. 8.5 MILLION FOR A 1 TOOL PLAYER. PUT ROSS GLOAD IN TONIGHTS GAME. AND I THINK HE MAKES CONTACT. THE OBGLIGATORY SINGLE UP THE MIDDLE IN THE LATE INNINGS AFTER CHOKING A FEW TIMES EARLIER IS VERY TIMOESQUE. URIBE, SOMEONE NAIL HIS FRONT FOOT DOWN AND TELL HIM KNEELING WHEN YOU HIT DOESNT HELP CRUDDY, TRADE HIM NOW, I DONT CARE HOW MANY HOME RUNS HE HITS, AND HOW GREAT HIS DEFENSE IS. HE CANNOT HIT, 1400ABS IN THE MAJORS. THE EXPERIMENT IS OVER. GET A 3RD BASEMAN THAT MAKES CONTACT AND DOESNT GET FOOLED BY CURVES LIKE 12 YEAR OLD.
  15. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) Is this board totally unable to accept a slump? At the beginning of the season -- oh, it'll be a tough fight, oh, we'll go through rough patches, blah blah blah. Get off it, tough losses happen. Jackie our offense hasnt been good this entire year. They have had flashes here at there, however over all are not good. How many times this year have we had men in scoring position with less than two outs only to leave them stranded. The twins and other good clutch teams shorten their swings up with 2 strikes, and foul off the pitchers pitch. We however take pitches down the middle over and over then swing at stuff out of the strikezone. Having 3 guys strike out with men on 1st and 3rd with no one out is embarassing. I mean you couldnt put the ball in play. Watching that japanese pitcher K a bunch of guys when you have men on was also equally embarassing. Our hitters refuse to adjust for the long haul. They will have one game were they hit up the middle and to the other field then to get into long pull only swings the next few games. The only difference between last year and this year is we have better pitching and our 1st 3 hitters have been good. If a team shuts down our first 3 the game is over. We lost this game due to our terrible offense, as much as everyone wants to jump on Hermy this game should of been at least 4 or 5 to nothing going into the ninth. I give the Padres pitcher credit, with the free long swinging team we have, you get ahead of our hitters you can mow them down like weeds.
  16. This offense is the reason the game was lost. We cant have our pitchers basically having to throw shut outs to win. Tonight was worse than corpseball. No adjustments at the plate. No shortening the swings up to make contact. No trying to dump the ball the other way. What we had was a lot of guys with long swings, looking to drive the ball, with 2 strikes on them. Our offense is bad. Too many easy outs in the lineup. Too many guys who have long looping swings. Too many guys who are pull only. Everyone got all excited that we scored a few against the rockies and their terrible pitchers. But remember, we got shut down by Byung Hung Kim. It was almost like they were playing drunk. Mark didnt deserve this game tonight. But hey when you are running into the 9th away from home nursing a 1-0 lead you are f***ed. WE NEED TO SCORE MORE RUNS. THIS OFFENSE IS BEYOND BAD. THIS 2-1, 3-2 s*** IS GOING TO GET US KILLED. BTW A BIG BOOO TO KW FOR NOT HAVING A BACKUP 1ST BASEMAN. WE CANT PINCH RUN FOR THE SLOWEST MAN ON EARTH THAT CONSTANTLY GETS THROWN OUT BECAUSE HE SLOWS DOWN AS HE GETS CLOSER TO THE PLATE.
  17. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Yeah, no kidding. Can you imagine if there wasn't a chat where we could go to blow off steam? This board would be on fire. We would all be banned.
  18. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) This site is as good as it gets regarding posting freedom and the posters here, especially those who are *cough* aggressive *cough* with their posting style, truly appreciate that. Thank god for the chat, lol.
  19. The White Sox's 40-man roster stands at 39 after they outrighted RHP Kris Honel to Double-A Birmingham. Maybe something is abrewing. Or it gives us flexibility for something later.
  20. I called this in gamechat. He gets his first pinch hit of the year and now people are going to use it as proof of something. YEAH TIMO IS 1 FOR 12 IN PINCH HITTING.
  21. I have said it time and time again. That he didnt look when he threw the ball. He would pick up the target way too late into his delivery. If he throws strikes he is fine. If he gets ankielesque then he is useless. I give huge credit for Cooper and Cotts for working this out. If Cotts can locate in the strikezone, get ahead of hitters he will be fine. Now if Cooper can only get Marte not to short arm and fly open on his delivery we will be set. Marte shorts arms his fastball, almost like he is rushing to get it released, he releases while he is still open, and the ball sails. This is bad mechanics and can lead to injury. If he gets on top of the pitch and releases and follows through to the other knee with his left hand like he did when he first came up, he can be dominant. That is when you get 94 mphs moving down in the strikezone. When he sails the ball a few times, then he tries to locate and takes some velocity off of his pitch. This is when he throws a meatball.
  22. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) It's not realistic to base the season on a couple at bats that may or may not happen in August. These types of situations arise in almost every game, and that's my point. The Sox have amassed the best record in baseball while much of the lineup got off to a dreadful start. Konerko has been hitting well and consistently for three weeks. Dye has been unreal. Everett has been hitting well. Frank is back. Podsednik, Rowand and Iguchi have continued their hot hitting. With nearly the entire lineup on a tear, offense is the least of my worries. I'm more concerned with shoring up the bullpen than replacing Crede. I am going to play devils advocate with you then. Based on your logic. Why upgrade the bullpen. Why upgrade anything. We have the best record in baseball and the 2nd best pitching in baseball. Maybe Dingo comes around, maybe Viz does also. If we sit on our hands it will eventually come back to haunt us. Crede is a liablity. Dingo is a liability.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) its ok to say we have weaknesses, because we do, but saying that Crede is a liability is one thing, then proclaiming that we can trade him and a prospect for Blaylock is another. Thats the only thing im sick of, saying that we have weaknesses is fine with me, we need to focus on our team first. Well the xbox trades are a bit much. So far you might not agree what I am saying, but my trade comments are based in reality and have an actual chance of actually happening. I dont see us making whole sale changes. I see just Crede and some pitching help. The only way this will change is if we have an injury. We need to shore the pen up a bit to allow us to make it a short game later in the season. Our starters have been great, but we need to give some of them a rest when they eventually have a dead arm period.
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) Is there anyone other than me that is sick of the constant trades and pick-up ideas that have been popping up lately. I understand that some people think there are weaknesses on this team that could be addressed, but how many of them have cost us our season? We are still in first place and have the best record in the MLB, do you really think our team is that bad? I for one, am going to stop discussing trade rumors until July. You can join me if you want, but unless it my man-crush Eric Chavez, I wont no part of any transaction. This is the best Sox team I have ever seen, and I am loving the ride. Oh come on now, trades and upgrades are perfectly normal talk. The only think I wish is that the mods would create a pinned trade thread. I understand we have a the best record in baseball, but come on just saying we will beat the twins because of that isnt prudent. We have to use every single advantage that we have to win this thing. Currently we have 3 offensive liabilities. Kong, Uribe and Cruddy. Kong has a 8.5 mill contract, he is our only first baseman and he has power. They aint getting rid of him. He is coming around a bit, and the only issue that I have with the man is that I wish he would be a bit more generous with using the entire field instead of pulling the ball all the freakin time. Uribe has been great defensively. He is a butcher at the plate. Swings at everything. Can play 2nd, SS and 3rd. Great arm and great defense. now Cruddy 1400 major league AB's later and he is still the same hitter. Bat is a bit slow, will hit the home run when he knows whats coming. Great defense also. We cant have two guys who are streaky and may or may not hit at the same time in the lineup for the long haul., There will be games this season and eventually in the playoffs where we might need a contact play, a good bunt, or hitting to right from the bottom of our lineup. Cruddy has frustrated our coaches many times. He has shown no improvement. I figure that KW will upgrade at 3rd base, get us a good lefty reliever, and possibly another good arm in the pen.
  25. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) Exactly. The question we should be asking is whether the team needs an offensive upgrade at all. With the exception of Crede and Uribe's cold streaks, the team has been hitting very well lately. Adding one position player who may hit 50 points higher is not going to make a whole lot of difference. As long as Crede's glove is there, it makes sense to keep him for the remainder of the year. There's always the possibility Crede has a good second half. Replacing him with Feliz or even Randa is risky. Neither are anything but solid players, and they both could slump. Even if they slump, its still better than .229. Joe has had 1400+ ABs in the majors to figure it out. I think having Uribe and Joe going against top tier pitching in August with the game on the line when we need contact. We cant have two outs in a row. Uribe is streaky but the swinging at everything and then Joe being Joe and two all the time spells for a slow spot in our lineup.
