  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) Munoz sucks. Munoz and Diaz are auditioning for the infamous "Tee Ball Stand" title.
  2. QUOTE(Yoda @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) What's the score? 3-1 bad guys
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Borchard off to a good start. Did he swing at the 1st pitch? He is using strategies he learned in the winter leagues and is going to apply them for success in the majors. Oh wait the deer cut him.
  4. Where is Jeckle to talk about how great Diaz is?
  5. Marte needs to have a good spring, or Ozzie will have no faith in him.
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) This is total bulls***. Magglio and Boras have been bad mouthing the Sox from the day Magglio signed Boras on as his agent. That piece of s*** Ordonez had no intention of staying here. He can rot in hell for all I care. This years AL Central is going to have a lot of bad blood. The twins vs sox is going to get ugly, the injuns vs sox could get ugly, and with f**glio the tigers vs sox could be a repeat of the fick inspired brawl.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) Could be, but would Don Cooper know the pitch? He developed it in the offseason. I believe Shingo went back to japan during this offseason. Cooper IMHO has few missions this spring. Convince all the pitchers to keep the ball down. Get the pitchers to throw inside a bit to offset their offspeed. Keep Contreras from falling in love with his splitter. That is all he has to do.
  8. Lets go with the obvious. A pitch that the japanese leagues are famous for. THE SHUTO!!!!!!!! shuto: a variation on the screwball that is popular among Japanese pitchers Japanese to English baseball terms
  9. Tee Ball stand takes his 7 ERA road show to the tigers. LOL One born every minute. They also signed 37 year old Mike James. To bad Mike Jackson is retired.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) a little wince in his step I am sure that he will be shooting up anything to keep that leg in check. If anything it will affect the way he plays. Do you see him being real aggressive on the basepaths. Do you see him flying in to make a catch. Sure he will be able to hit. But I think Konkero probably could out-race him now.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Hell ya I'll be going. I think this will be about my 8th year out there. Its a total blast. Not sure when I'm going but it will be within the first three weeks of spring training. I'll end up catching two Sox games and two other games while staying in the Phoenix area. If anyone hasn't been and can go, go, its probably the thing I look forward to most every year. We are staying up in Scottdale. We are going to the Mariners vs. Sox game on Easter sunday. Peoria is a cool stadium to watch a game. I caught the sox against the padres up there last year. Last year was the first year I saw white sox spring training logo stuff up the phoenix area. Hopefully there is more this year.
  12. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) Not having to watch Harris start this year, this is just epic. Get the snow off the ground, let's play some ball I wonder how Willie is going to steal those 65 bases from the bench. He better have and OBP of like 450.
  13. Just remember a few phrases Ozzie should learn for Tadahito when playing the twins. Jodan Mawaski Geri upper roundhouse kick Gedan Tski low punch for Torii And on the really good news pointWe have signed two japanese players and none of them have stared in gay porn like the injuns japanese pitcher.
  14. The biggest threat to the sox for years have been themselves. If they can keep consistant and not give up games they should win or get blown away on the west coast they should be fine.
  15. QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Jan 20, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) I looked around and didn't see this posted..if it was posted aleady, sorry http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writ...blog/index.html Well.... :finger The guy who wrote this is a tool. The quote about the 2005 AL Cy Young just reeks lunacy.
  16. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) I'm just hoping we make a little run for Rich Aurilla...he could fill that void if we decide we don't want to bid for a MI. Also...Roberto Hernandez...welcome to Mike Jackson? Or no? Just have terrible memories. Mike Jackson to quote an irish song. NO NEY NEVER, I wanted him released when he was in spring training.
  17. I didnt know that Farmio was in underworld? And its a similiar outfit to what he wore at soxfest.
  18. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Sox handled that whole situation better than I would have. They let Jackson get his 1000th appearance and I believe let him pass one other guy on the all time list (Gossage?) who had 1005 ... and cut him afterwards. If it's me, his ass would've been cut a lot sooner. But ... water under the bridge. I wanted Jackson cut back during the Philly series when he let them come back. Jackson hitting Torii would of been funny. Nothing like the mean spirited beaning of a guy who barely can outgas a high school pitcher. Now that we have Bobby Jenks. Well now we have something. 100 mph from a guy who is a few screws loose.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) Ozzie exact words were that the player went into second base "like his wife was playing SS. So we got rid of his butt." Whats the over/under on a brawl with another AL Central team(the twinks) this year. I dont think we will bean people. But I feel that their middle infielders should clear the deck. With all of the trash talking over the years this has the makings of a brawl. I dont preach violence(unless its a video game) but nothing drew that team together in 2000 like that detroit tiger brawl. I think that really brought the team together.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) Every married guy in that room was cringing as Ross was telling the story about how he got together with his wife. Its not that he is sleeping on the couch, she will bring that up at every opportune time for years. But did you catch the little exchange they had before he went into that story when he said Well you wanted to do this. LOL. Nothing like setting you up for the big guilt trip for the rest of your life. I will use this to get out of trouble with my own wife. Well hun at least I didnt call you a whore in front of a room full of people at soxfest, its the automatic get out of jail free card.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) I got several looks for my beach apparel as well. Sorry.. but I was sunburbed and anything heavier hurt. It had nothing to do with what you were wearing, they were wondering if the aliens that took over your body are good or evil
  22. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Oh Rowand's wife by far was the best. Oh and believe me, I know Baseball Pants likes to talk. I guess I just feel that he forgets he is no longer a player, as much as he tries to act like he is the players' buddies. I also know he loves the Sox ... he just grates on me. Although it would be fun to play the: "Farmer complains about the umpires drinking game." We'd all be drunk by the second inning. Do you think Ross is off the couch yet, or is he in the house with his moronic comment.
  23. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) I was at the seminar with Rowand, Crede, Gload, Politte and their wives and Farmer moderated it. Ooops I'm sorry, Farmer talked the entire time about himself and his career and spent the rest of the time wanting to talk about the Cubs and Wrigley Field. My wife had said that it could have been a great seminar listening to the players and their wives talk about the family life of a major league baseball player. But instead, Farmer talked for 20 minutes about how the Cubs are screwed up because they play day games. Hey, Mr. Baseball Pants .... you're not the show!!! Farmio likes to talk, everyone knows that. The only thing in his defense is that it was like pulling teeth to get things out of the wives at times. He had to lead a lot of the questions and keep pulling. They are not in the media spotlight all of the time and its kind of tough getting up in front of a lot of people and talking. Arows wife did by far the best job at it. But he did lead the conversation about how much wrigley was a dump.
  24. We have had numerous threads about speed at the top and how it will help our boppers have something to drive in. One thing that we are overlooking is the other benefits to have an aggressive running game up top. 1.) Our 3,4,5 hitters will get more hittable pitches. Successful aggressive running creates a situation where you will see more pitchouts. This creates better hitting counts. Also pitch selection changes as pitchers will either slide step or throw more fastballs to get the ball to the plate faster to give the catcher a better chance of throwing out the runner. Plus as we saw last year with Timo. A runner can get under the pitchers skin to the point where they almost forget about the hitter and start to get into a walk fest. 2.) Speed puts the defense on its back heel. It opens holes plain and simple. Now you have players cheating to hold runners or to get into position to accept the throw down. This get defense out of position. It gives the hitters a better chance to hit the ball in the hole or get a ball past a player who would usually be in position to throw you out. 3.) Secondary advancement of bases. Players can advance into better postions after an attempt to throw out a fast runner trying to move ahead. We saw this alot last year. A throw goes into third or to home and the secondary runner advances into scoring position on the long throw. 4.) Breakups of GIDP. GIDPs are rally killers. Having speed is something that can help break this up. A fast runner puts the defense into a position to try and get that lead runner. Forced throws or breakups of the double play can exend the inning. 5.) Aggressive advancement of runners. Watching runners steal and to get to third. This opens up the RBI opporunities immensley. We have now a situation that a sac fly will score the runner. You can give up the out to score the run instead of needing a positive hit to score the runner. I am sure others can add more. But there is a lot more that speed can help this team. Its not revamping the team, but putting a better spin on things we did poorly during our Earl Weaver wait for the 3 run homer offense that we had here for years.
  25. I wonder if Steff was able to make it past the crack staff of chicago whitesox security perhaps my dear god did Katie get past. We did resign a certain Mr. Ben freakin Davis. Could she have gotten into line for Ben. If anyone goes to soxfest tomorrow give Ben a heads up before Katie makes her move. Hopefully they have posted some likenesses of her around for fast recognition.
