  1. Now you are being revisionist. People didn't doubt his stuff. The only one who doubted his stuff was Law. The real question was could his arm slot, mechanics, and could his slight build handle the rigors of being in a rotation long term. So far he has been a horse.
  2. Taking articles, parsing them and coming up with the most negative outcome based on what you see is not a most likely outcome. Read up on what they said about Chris Sale when he was drafted also known as the closer we drafted.
  3. We have had noodle arms like Pods on this team playing an Of position. So stop with the absolutes based on 2nd and 3rd hand knowledge that based on articles you read.
  4. Explain your definition of overthrowing. Most guys who throw near 100 have command issues. If he was commanding his pitches he would be up here dominating.
  5. You should like Shields. Instead of keeping that pesky prospect they went for it and picked up a vet who knows how to win. How great does that look now.
  6. You obviously didn't pay a lot of attention to the Cubs and to the Astros when they rebuilt.
  7. This is exactly what I expected for the early parts of the rebuild. A small wave of talent arrived last year. That doesn't change that this is a bad team. This team needs to develop what they have and keep sending waves and waves of talent over the next few years. Some of it will stick, some of it will surprise and some of it will disappoint. Thats why its about numbers. The next CBA should address minor leaguers getting paid in slave wages. Not bad teams.
  8. I watched the game. He did watch the homer a bit and then pointed to the sky after the got to home plate. I am okay with that, and I am okay with Contreras watching his. Just like I am okay with guys celebrating good plays, pitchers celebrating striking out a hitter to end an inning or game. Its a game played by human beings and human beings have emotions. People get butt hurt when its the other team doing it to them.
  9. So did you think Tim Anderson should be beaned when he watched his homer in KC. I bet you thought that the catcher was a bad guy for going after Tim after he stared at this shot.
  10. Giving the job to Southpaw might be a better plan.
  11. His defense needs a lot of work. If he isn't working very hard every single day on his defense then he is wasting an opportunity. He messes up simple two handed plays to many times. He backhands when he shouldn't, he never gets his footwork correct.
  12. After watching the Royals for years plunk our players and act like jackasses that's pretty rich getting all butt hurt over Tim pointing to the sky after a homer. Get freaking real. Swear filter needs to be reapplied after the upgrade
  13. So the Mariners gift you by not taking out the lead runner and you gift them back by randomly taking off because the trailer gets occupied. Thats something you see in youth baseball not something you should see in the pro's.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 03:43 PM) There's been a lot of attention paid to the funky motion with Fulmer's arms but to me it's his lower half that's costing him. When his left foot lands, his leg is completely stiff and you can see how it totally redirects his forward momentum. Instead of a smooth trajectory towards home it kind of swings his weight over the front leg. It gives him basically no margin for error with his release point because if his timing is slightly off he'll either release it much too high or much too low. When he lands it's not completely stiff. His leg stiffens up as he stops forward momentum. Lots of pitchers do this. It's part of the disconnect between the lower and upper half.
  15. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 10:29 PM) ricky is pissing me off. Unless he is treating these games like glorified scrimmage games. It's puzzling. If we see corners up and middle back next we will know he is just running drills.
  16. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 10:23 PM) wtf? why was the f***ing IF IN? Because its a bad HS team. You try to get outs in that situation. It's not like its close and late.
  17. On that last Anderson play. Most of the elite SS's get that on the short hop. He got in between and the ball came up on him. He made the play. But that was a bit harder than it should of. Lower the mitt and push through.
  18. Hitting a baseball is hard. The issue as they make that climb over AA is the quality of breaking pitches they see. Lots of these guys can hit fastballs. In fact is hard to advance to AA without being able to hit a fastball. And most of these guys can hit average secondary pitches. But once they cross the line into the majors their flaws are picked apart by advanced scouts. They have to adjust and prove they can either hit X pitch, lay off X pitch, or jump on the fastball and not get in between. Some of them it just happens right away, others take time to develop this. And some it just never happens. Hopefully with Yoan its just mechanical aspects and getting ABs. He has the luxury of being on a rebuilding team. He has time to take his lumps. Hopefully, he comes out on the other end of this a better overall player.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 11:22 PM) Vizquel will be the manager of the next White Sox playoff team... Maybe he can teach the boys to catch the ball.
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 11:17 PM) Ha.. Tim of course then makes a more difficult play look easy with his athleticism. Such an enigma defensively. It's lack of focus. The athletic play doesn't give him time to do anything but react. The previous ground ball is a piece of cake. He took his eyes off the ball.
  21. Holy s***. Catch the ball. You can't get any easier than a ground ball hit directly at you that is barely bounding.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 10:31 PM) Semien nearly gave us another hit He catches the ball fine. His throws however, yeesh. They are diving or he is bouncing them in.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 09:06 AM) Joe McEwing works with him endlessly. Excellent. Then its really about him getting reps, committing to the process and getting game reps. Its about converting the normal plays at an extremely high rate and then letting athleticism take over on the non-routine plays. Working on footwork and doing drills is not sexy or fun. But the work will pay off in the long run. The physical tools are there.
