  1. It would be nice if we have someone like Wash working with Anderson, Moncada & company on their infield mechanics. This work is typically done at times during spring training. Ron Washington does this with fielders all season long. Ozzie Albies has been working his ass off with Wash all last season and is continuing it this season. Anderson needs work on his footwork and his glove mechanics. He has the physical tools to be an elite SS but needs to put in the hours of grind to have it become 2nd nature. Too bad Vizquel is a manager in the minors and not up with the big league team. He would be an outstanding influence on the young infielders. This year should be about maximizing the development all around of our players. Whatever it takes.
  2. Some of you are going to have a stroke before June if the day to day ups and downs of a rebuild season are too much. This season is a wash. You are not winning this year. Development is the key.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 01:47 PM) So many plays not made that don't show up in box score He was running at it and hoped the ball would jump into his forehand glove extension.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 07:14 PM) I can’t believe Engel didn’t get an error, Scorekeeper home cooking right there.
  5. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 07:07 PM) Adam Engel sucks balls. It would be nice if he tracked the ball to his mitt. Instead of using his peripheral vision. Then another guy who doesn't catch a ball that hits his mitt.
  6. In all the years of playing baseball, I would take the hot weather as an athlete over cold weather. Hitting sucks, you cant grip the ball properly in the cold. You don't move the same. In 90 degree weather I just kept hydrated and made sure I didn't get sunburned and I was fine. Anyone who has suffered through late winter/early spring midwest high school and college baseball can attest on how pre-middle of April weather just sucks. I was at opening day a few years back and it was snowing. That's just stupid non-baseball weather.
  7. The problem is really with all elected officials. All of them suck. Its real simple. Get rid of long gun automatic weapons for everyone but law enforcement and the military. No you cant buy body armor. No you cant buy armor piercing rounds. No you can order nuclear weapons. None of this is for hunting so stop saying that it will stop it. The US military has 5th generation jets, missiles, tanks, special forces, and other things you don't have. So your well regulated militia would last 15 minutes in a skirmish. So stop with the I am protecting my country from tyrants. You watched too much Zero Dark Thirty and played too much COD. You want home defense, then invest in a shotgun. You are not taking the long gun and going room to room to get the boogeyman. You dont need a long gun with 4000 rounds to fend off the bad guy at your house. Require background checks and training for gun owners. Anyone with mental health, criminal behavior not qualified and you are on a list. Then on the other side. Truth in sentencing for all gun related crimes. No early release. You use a gun in a crime it should be a multiplier. I dont want to see anymore, X person is a 5 time felon yet is out doing mayhem. I dont want to hear about how Jimmy is 19 years old and he made a mistake bringing an AK-47 to the bank and had a sad life when he threatened to shoot everyone in the face. So he just needs counseling. If you post Youtube\snapchat\anything internet related with videos or posts threatening to kill the world. Then you get put on a list and you have zero ability to buy anything weapons related. I dont care if it was a joke, or you were in your angst years. Just like a sex offenders list. You are on it for life. No weapons for you. Law Enforcement. Its 2018. Get a f***ing database of this s*** together and get everyone in law enforcement access to it. Feds and locals share info. Military share info. If Jimmy was discharged from the Army because he liked guns too much, and killed the neighbors dog with one and ate it. Please dont keep that a secret. Both sides have blood on their hands.
  8. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 6, 2018 -> 08:56 PM) I can’t wait until people start freaking out about Kopech showing up at like 93 on the radar gun and saying his velocity is way down after their has been countless articles saying this Spring and season he is going focus primarily on offspeed stuff. Just wait, it’s coming. Wait till the first time someone gets rocked a bit in a meaningless B game where they are working on a pitch. Or some B level minor leaguer hits .450 and they want that guy to supplant Moncada. Spring training is all about overreactions.
  9. Love love love this hire. Moar Defense pleaz!!!!!
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 19, 2017 -> 03:06 PM) That wasn't even close You cant miss that wide on a kick that important. Terrible.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 19, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) Now I'm getting mad. This is irresponsible. We're not going to win a pennant without some leftovers. These 2 guys are excellent hitters and ballplayers and both have intangibles a team likes. If Hahn trades these two you may all have your wish, I may be gone as a fan. Done. It's ridiculous to trade these two and think we're going to win one or two or more WS titles with the rebuilt group. Ever hear of a mixture of guys who've been with the team a while and all the new young players? Hahn obviously (if this report is true) loves the fact all the statniks/trade people are praising him daily. Mr Hahn I ask you, what the hell is wrong with Abreu and Avi??? Why the need to trade them for MORE prospects. Good riddance then. Enjoy Kansas City. Its a rebuild. There are no sacred cows.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 11:34 PM) He totally thought he tied it. He is a role player who just hit a home run in the world series. Let him have his moment.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 18, 2017 -> 11:19 PM) Bellinger couldn't have asked for better pitch to hit. Big blunder by Roberts with his crappy lineup He hit the ball hard. He just didn't slot correctly and it was hit on the ground.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 13, 2017 -> 02:32 PM) And yet both of those sports have compromises to actually being "out of bounds" just as grey as a proposed "vertical safe zone", such as being marked down where you first touch out of bounds, not where you first enter out of bounds. Which is strange right? If you are out of bounds you should be out of bounds, not allowed to travel forward still when you aren't in field of play! This offends my sensibilities! Abolish leadoffs then. Tell him to plant his foot on the base just like its little league. Leadoffs and secondary leads are choices with an implied risk. He doesn't have to take a leadoff. Nothing in the rules tells him he has to. Why have bases at all if you don't have be in contact with it if a tag is applied. Whats the purpose of a base then. Why stand or make contact with it? Why is it required to make contact with it to move to the next base. Why not just do a captain morgan over it when the pitcher tries a pick to first. You know making contact with the inner corner of the base is going to slow down my run to second. So as long as I go over it then that should work as well.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 13, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) We alter the rules all the time. I watch baseball to see something cool like seeing if a runner's speed can beat a throw to the base. The part where the runner whose speed was so entertaining causes his leg to bounce up 3 inches off the bag for a second so while the defender lazily holds it on top fo him is...not entertaining. It's not like they are sliding 4 feet past the bag. Why have out of bounds then in football and basketball. I too watch the game to watch athletes do athletic things. I find it annoying when the 90 yard runback gets called back because of a few inches touching the line. I mean its not like he is 4 feet past the line.
  16. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 13, 2017 -> 12:51 PM) Yeah, but part of Cameron's point is that these rules aren't becoming as "basic" anymore, now that we have super slo mo cameras to see details that were never seen before. As he points out, for 100+ years, Lobotan would have been called safe. It's only NOW that we have super detailed camera work that he is ruled out. Cameron is arguing giving the vertical safe zone would actually create results more in line with what we have always seen in the past. Because if you are talking about most BASIC of all, it's almost always been if the runner gets to the bag first, he's safe. Umpires never followed through with the minute details like they have to do via replay. These are calls that were never called before. So if you're a purist, vertical safe zones actually just take away super slo-mo replays changing ridiculously technical plays like that, and return calls to how they were always called. If you are a purist then get rid of the replays and just deal with the human element. That works until a jumbotron HD replay at 80 feet tall shows that X play happened. The point of the replay system is to get things right. So if the human official makes a mistake and technology helps to correct that then technology helps. We cant alter the rules just because technology overrules the human and it adds complexity. Its a slippery slope when you introduce technology and review to any sport. How does one enforce a vertical safe zone. How does an ump who is several feet away determine an invisible barrier above an object. We are talking about a person and their appendages not a football as well. This is not breaking a linear plane. This is an invisible safe zone above a base.
  17. This nonsense of basic rules dont apply because it hurts my sensibilities is nuts. I am sure National fans are upset about the dropped 3rd strike rule at this moment as well. Here is a solution. Block or catch the ball. No, no vertical safe zone. Its simple. Stay on the bag. He wasn't pushed off the bag or prevented entry. He slid and popped up. Its no different than someone switching their feet and losing contact with the base and getting tagged. Keep a body part connected with the bag at all times and you are good. Lobaton took an aggressive secondary and paid the price for it.
  18. Its real simple. Catch the ball. Watching catchers who cant block. Watching people throw the ball around. The trailing runner get picked. This is a fundamentally dumb team. It was unwatchable at times. A mediocre defensive team wins this game. Between this and watching the Indians game last night. People need more defensive work.
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 12, 2017 -> 09:26 PM) Ron Darling is quite literally the worst MLB commentator I've ever heard. I'm not even sure it's close. Smoltz is a close second.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 12, 2017 -> 08:18 PM) Could have been a dp He might of been able to take out the runner at 2nd but he wouldn't of turned the dp. He made the safe play. If Wieters can block and Gio can stop throwing WPs getting outs is more than enough here.
  21. Sample size is amazing. This is one start. His slider was flat, his velocity was still good and he was missing his spots a bit. Thats the difference in missing bats and looking like Cy Young. Lets give him a few starts before we declare him to be a bust in the playoffs.
  22. Stupid things that can be immediately outlawed. Its not like that hunters need to attack the forest like its Zero Dark Thirty and Bin Laden is upstairs. Tracer rounds -Unless Bambi is in a rainy forest at night with 10k of his friends in a fortress there is zero reason to use tracer rounds to help your aim. Armor Piercing Rounds -Unless Bambi is wearing Kevlar. There is no reason. Bump devices -Unless you are worried about rate of fire with Bambi and his 10k forest friends there is no reason. Silencers -I know at times its necessary to assault Bambi's house and have the tactical advantage but come on. What next you and 5 of your friends flash bang the animal from the blind with your throat mikes on yelling tango down. Before the NRA asks No rocket launchers, grenades, mines, tanks, air support ( wait for it I am sure that we will have a hunting drone soon if not already ), chemical or tactical nukes to take out Bambi and his elite deer fighting force. At some point hunting is not a video game. There has to be some level of hunting actually involved. Its not just hey this reminds me of COD where I can just pull the trigger forever and if I hit something so be it. Most hunters are not asking for Zero Dark Thirty crap. Its the noobs who are using these weapons for some sort of testosterone trip or they have mental issues and think the government is coming to get them. Either way they dont count. So lets not worry about their feelings. If an intruder in my house cannot be stopped by a shotgun or a handgun then they are a cyborg, alien or deity. Me pulling a long gun to shoot the intruder 20 feet away down my upstairs hallway is great. Until I fire off a round and it goes through the wall, and into my neighbors house and kills someone there. Maybe people who want these weapons should pass a physics test. Bullets go through things. These high velocity high mass bullets go a long way, they go through everything it seems and dont stop once they miss your intended target. So no they are not good for home defense. You dont need to outlaw all guns. But my god some common sense things can be passed.
  23. I am a gun owner. With that being said there has to be limits. First of all if you want to own a gun you should go through a rigorous background check. You should also be required to go through a gun safety class. I don't see why anyone needs an assault rifle. I find it interesting that hunters need things like silencers for hunting. You don't need an AR15 with an large scope, laser site and a silencer to kill a deer. Not everything is a video game. The next part of this is people caught with assault rifles in the commission of a crime should automatically get a multiplier on their sentence. One thing we fail at is the proper enforcement of gun laws.
  24. QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 25, 2017 -> 07:25 AM) No doubt. This is starting to look like a Mark Prior issue. Lots of problems, no answers and insisting his mechanics are good. although, I had issues with Priors taining and mechanics. The only issue I have with Rodon is still his lack of follow through. He seems very upright in his last movements. He also looks like he throws across his body and his arm almost rebounds back during his recovery phase. His motion is not typical of someone who can generate the type of velocity he can. People have all sorts of odd mechanics. But it always amazed me on his stuff with the way his mechanics look. Hopefully everything is fine.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 10:08 PM) Can you guys believe a fan (me) doesn't even know our draft position at all? I have no idea where we currently rank or where we will pick in draft. Don't care one iota. Can u imagine how different we are on the spectrum? I would rather win tonight than get the No. 1 pick over the No. 2 or 3. Don't care bout that. You have stated this nonsense for years. At least you are consistent.
