  1. I wonder if we went back to the Duke rape case thread how many people had those players convicted due to the accusation. Because obviously it was a rape, remember. Then the facts come out and its not that. If he did rape her then he deserves jail. On the other hand if she didnt get raped maybe she deserves jail.
  2. Its the 9th fairway and Alexei is approaching the dish with a 33inch Maple bat. He takes a few swings, tough putt here. He steps in the box. And the first pitch. Ooh I think he was trying to pitch it onto the green there. He steps out and takes swing. Yup he hit the ball to the uh, second baseman. Pods is bad at this. Put his wife in the booth and cut to her. Turn the sounds off.
  3. QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 06:38 PM) I like what I've seen from Saladino...he swings at strikes, is selective has a good swing. I'm hoping he is the answer at 3b... but that's a big need. Also if Avi can't be the guy we need another outfielder. Then there is LaRoche.. The thing is I don't think the Sox are that far away. I would take a look at Tyler at 2b. He has played that position before. His bat and his defense might be a fit for 2b. Then you target 3b for a guy with pop. We need offense at some place. I would play Tyler at 2b over the other internal options.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 08:16 AM) Let's hear some names. I'll start with some obvious ones that'll get tossed around: 1. Ozzie Guillen- His .524 winning percentage with the Sox is a lot better than Ventura's. Left on bad terms though. 2. Dave Martinez- The next great manager according to everyone but the 30 GMs running teams. Worrisome that he hasn't been hired yet, particularly by the Rays. 3. Joe McEwing- Perennial managerial and been with the Sox awhile now. Good 3rd base coach outside whatever the f*** 2 nights ago was. 4. Sandy Alomar Jr- The coveted catcher to manager move. Being groomed as a manager by the Indians. Obvious Sox ties. 5. Joey Cora- Key part of the Guillen "glory days" but without the shenanigans. Vanderbilt educated. The only one on that list I would entertain would be Sany Alomar Jr. He would be an interesting hire. Cora maybe. But the rest no. I want to see someone who actually has some experience. If they hire another ex-sox player with zero experience I would be very disappointed. No Thome, no Thomas, no AJ. I want an actual guy with some experience.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) Hoky crap Sale has one bad start and this place falls apart. Its crazy, just overreacting. Its like you have won 7 in a row against really horrible teams and people start printing playoff tickets and want to trade everything away.
  6. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) Our farm system just flat out sucked minus Gio. Look at the guys we've moved and tell me who irks you that we've moved. You know that Miguel Cabrera fella. When he was put on the block we didn't have the bullets to get him here. Trust me Kenny tried. He just didnt have the horses to do it. Because he keeps going for it. So keep dumping players every year and you have nothing to go over the top when you need to.
  7. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 07:00 PM) All of the wild card teams are upgrading. We're in this. Let's make a bold move for a bat. Bold moves are why our farm system was in shambles and we are in the spot we have been in the last few years. Sustainable teams have a deep farm system that they use to restock major league talent and use for trade chits. If we dont get into the playoffs with this gamble then you burned it for nothing. This bold move nonsense is foolish. I would rather keep our talent and use it when we are truly in a spot to compete.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) They pretty much are forced into it because of the need to give a shiney thing to the fan base in order to get them to show up. Even if it isn't best long term, they have to take the chance while they can to try to get people to keep showing up. They bought a lot of shiney new things this offseason and it didn't help with attendance. Consistant winning over a period of time is how you turn this thing around. That requires a rich farm system to use to replenish and to use for trade chits. Going for short term contracts to win now is not a strategic play. This is chess versus checkers here.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:12 PM) K, how did you view taking 2 from cardinals before then? That we should go for it? I don't think we should burn anything for it. If it went bad move Jeff, it was like this stay put. We are still in a retooling part of the process. Burning this down for a lottery ticket is stupid.
  10. So we are about to burn our farm system again to fund another one of Trader Kenny's long shots. Then again I look at data like losing 2 from the Cardinals and 3/4 from the Royals as a bit of a scary trend over sweeping 2 series from a couple of dogs.
  11. ‏@elliottbaseball Hearing Jeff Hoffman in the package to Colorado
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:36 AM) but on his resume, he got the sox their 1 world series in how many yrs???? no pls do not take this as i am a kw supporter, which i am not and have not since the late 90's. So if he trades Anderson, Montas, and Adams in his quest to go for it. Its all good.
  13. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:09 AM) KW is in charge. Great.....
  14. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:03 AM) Been going on for months. KW / TOR is still a hot button topic don't think it's not. Big drama in the FO this season. This is why we cant have nice things. We have a guy who wants to burn down the farm going for it no matter what the odds. If the odds are greater than 0 then he pushes the chips in.
  15. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:55 PM) Deals for Shark to TOR and SF in place. The deals are sitting there. KW is still "all in" on '16 and Rick is not so there's that drama right now. Of course Kenny is all in. He is all in every year no matter what. He must be a joy to play poker with.
  16. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) After the Cleveland series, this team is definitely not a "seller" anymore. The only question is "are we a buyer?" Do we go out and get a bat? Or do we not mess with the outstanding chemistry this team has developed? I know its dangerous to mess with a roster that is already a World Series contender, but I'd really like to see us add someone who can hit 20 HRs and drive in 50 runs down the stretch. I really think this is the missing link that could insure us the first championship in 10 years. Let's experience the joy of 2005 over again in the coming months! You pull this routine on every message board. A roster that is already a World Series contender? You mean the historically bad offense? The pitching is great sure. Offense horrible.
  17. We have a very high asking price for Jeff and he doesn't move. No one gets moved. We add a secondary vet for the "stretch" run and tell everyone its part of the 3 year plan.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 12:08 AM) No need to insult us. Yes it's only an exhibition game, but what makes the White Sox so special that they were the only team to ask (demand?) they not use one of their players? The last place, woeful White Sox. They truly are a laughingstock over this issue. I'm still waiting to see if Chris Sale takes the heat off the front office by saying he "didn't feel right" or something. That's all he needs to say and people like me have to shut up. Will he do that, though? How many teams didn't have a player compete in the game? I do not know the answer. Was it just the White Sox? At least Big Hurt was one of the commentators. Seriously though. Some of us have the right to be mad about Sale not pitching. I wonder when is the last time a White Sox did not appear in the game. Some franchises are proud to show off their best players; the Sox ask that the player not be used. I bet Yost got sick of dealing with Robin and just said, "Fine he won't f***ing pitch unless we need him in extra innings and there's no other option." If I was Sale and I wanted to pitch, I'd sure let the Sox beat writers know it wasn't my call. Hopefully Sale will call out those who made this call or shut me up by saying he hasn't felt 100 percent right lately. He could even say he's had a bug or something. That shuts Greg up. I find it funny that my 11 year old son, who adores Chris Sale, took the news that he wasn't pitching better than most adults in here.
  19. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 10:03 PM) Whatever dude. Only team in MLB not represented tonight. Nice work Sox. Its a f***ing scrimmage game with sponsors. Really people need to get a grip. OMG We won the scrimmage game without Sale.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) Congrats to you guys who don't want a Sox player in the game. Unfricking-believable to me. I remember as a kid going crazy in happiness when a Sox player entered the game, especially if it was a pitcher facing a Cub or vice versa. Crazy many of you were freaking out about one inning. Sale should never have clogged up a roster spot. He pitched on Saturday! Horrors he might go an inning on Tuesday. More arm chair tough guy s*** from people who barely played the game past the age of 12.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 08:23 PM) I want to know how many pitchers available tonight pitched on Saturday. Probably half or more. What a fricking joke. White Sox are very very disappointing organization. If Sale truly is mad there should be some articles in the Trib on this! First you get upset at beards. Now you are upset that our number 1 pitcher isn't pitching in an exhibition game. You get upset at the oddest things.
  22. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) I know a lot of people are a hard pass on Bruce, but this might be a good time to strike on him. His stock seems to be down and the Reds are not interested in paying any of his remaining salary. When I look at him versus our current RF situation, Bruce has a better ISO, BB%, better wOBA, and much better defensive defensive metrics than Avi. I realize he is a strikeout machine, but this team is in desparate need of power/offense and improving their holes on defense. If a package might be able to be centered around Avi and a prospect, I think this is something that the Sox should look at. This is a rebuilding team. That sounds like a KW move. I would rather spend my dollars in the infield and behind the plate than on getting rid of Avi at the moment. Bruce is an upgrade but I dont want to use anything of value for an OF at this point. Especially NL outfielders.
  23. I like attacking the zone as much as the next person but that was a pretty meaty pitch on 0-2.
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 01:34 PM) Sox have a hard time scoring for Q this game not looking good already. The sox have a hard time scoring in general. We win when our pitching gives up 3 or less. The margin for error with this offense is zero.
  25. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) Would you guys pinch hit for Sale here? How much alcohol have I had. Because if I answer yes I am legally drunk.
