  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) That's cool you are an announcer. I don't mean to insult you by saying you are no Hawk Harrelson. Just cause he is the best IMO. Listen, you say Hawk is a homer. Please answer this for me. Has Hawk ever criticized the White Sox or their players? (Yes is the correct answer). Does he do that often? (yes is the answer). Do announcers of other teams dare criticize their own players?? Gosh no! Unless they are in the Hall of Fame like Scully and Matthews. Please be honest with me. --- Tyler baby gets into one! Tyler is NOT worthless, folks. He's average. Great rally off Lester! You are kidding right?
  2. Wrigley is funny. A flyball gets a roar like it's onto Waveland. The fans have hawks depth perception.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) You are speaking like somebody who has announced games before. These guys need to kill time and have stuff to talk about. If all you do is praise Sale then you become one of the homer hacks who broadcast for all the other teams. Stoney was talking about Minnie beating Detroit last night; Hawk was talking about another game just now. Let's face it. We're spoiled with having great announcers on the south side. Listen to other teams except for Scully and they suck. Hawk knows announcing. /unsubscribe
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 04:16 PM) He should. He's one of the stars of MLB who won today, pitched against us recently, is a former Sox great and basically is one of the top starters in baseball still. I am sure if Toronto offered Buerhle for Sale you would do that in a heartbeat.
  5. No Ozzie. We have been there and have done that. Find someone outside of the organization that isn't a nepotism hire due to tenure of being a player for the sox. No matter how good you remember the player being or how smart you thought they were is not going to make them qualified for the job. Robin Ventura is one of my favorite baseball players ever. However I didnt think he was right for the job. No managing experience and learning on the job. No ex-sox players for hitting coaches. No ex-sox players for any management position. Just because you have their jersey doesn't make them qualified for the position. Evaluate this like a business and hire based on best candidate. Not based on some memory you had as a child for your hero.
  6. Well this makes me just want to plunk down money to watch this or any team. http://chicago.suntimes.com/baseball/7/71/...ank-beers-games
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 04:14 PM) My dream owner is Cuban. MLB won't let it happen. How many of the star power owners would move the team in a second to seal a larger profit margin.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) McDaniel's final mock has Sox taking Fulmer over Jay Tate or Fulmer would make me happy. The only reason we select Jay over either of them is #rotationofallofthelefties
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) Anaheim flat out out schemed the Hawks tonight. @MarkLazerus "Vermette and Teravainen are fine. Q wanted "fresh legs." This pushed Shaw to center as well. Stupid move.
  10. Hopefully Q can put his pets back out to pasture again and bring Tevu and company back.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) The power play is horrendous. Its amazing with the talent that they have how difficult the power play is. They have hard times getting into the zone. Then sit out and take long shots without good net presence. They get one shot and then they have to regroup. They need to hire or bring someone in that can help architect this. Make him a specialist or a bench coach. Who cares but this s*** kills them when goals are precious.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 21, 2015 -> 08:52 PM) That goal way too easy for the Ducks. Our defense and the goalie left that wide wide open.
  13. Well we are playing our division. Its where loses for us come in bunches. This Indians team is crap there is no reason they should come in here and take 3 out of 4. But I never would of thought the twins would of swept us as well.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2015 -> 07:22 PM) I don't get these lineup changes Tevu was one of the more creative players on the ice during the playoffs. But I guess we need more Versteeg for whatever god for saken reason.
  15. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 21, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) I went to the game last night, now 0-5, and got a ball from a Abreu. I was sitting first row and the guy a few seats over was adamant that Abreu was trying to give him the ball. He pestered me about it for 5 minutes. This man was > 30 years old and brought a catchers mitt to the game so he could catch a foul ball. If you are this guy and you are lurking on SoxTalk please, ditch the catcher's glove. Maybe he should of wandered over to the bullpen and helped warm up the pitchers.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 20, 2015 -> 03:48 AM) http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miam...le21442941.html First Dan Jennings "gut" bullpen move goes terribly wrong. “We did not see the 3-11 coming,” Marlins President David Samson said. “So once it was in front of us we were not fooled necessarily by what happened after that, which was a 9-1 [run]. We saw things that were not the way we needed them to be for sustained winning. So we started talking. And like we do, we came to a conclusion which is a change has to be made and only if you have the right person. And there was only one right person.” Samson said Redmond, who was fired less than nine months after receiving a contract extension through 2017, wasn’t necessarily let go because he lacked leadership. Samson said it was simply time for a different voice. Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miam...l#storylink=cpy He hasnt been a coach since high school. How the hell does he have a gut feeling. He is one step up from the fans having gut feelings at this point. Coaches are allowed to trust their gut based on the bevy of their experience. This experiment will end in a comedic way.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 20, 2015 -> 12:20 AM) Love the Anaheim fans chanting Crawford's name while he keeps robbing them. Well thought out. This is the same fanbase that brought all of 15k fans to their Stanley Cup rally when they won it. They dont have fans, they have a casual group of people who may or may not know what hockey is.
  18. Well oddly Perry from the Ducks headbutted a goal in 2013.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 19, 2015 -> 11:28 PM) When predicting this series, I never took into account Andersen stealing any games He has given up some rebounds. We just havent had a trailer there to capitalize on it.
  20. Tevu has been creative this game. He has setup a lot of nice opportunities for shots on goal.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 19, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Funny you mention that, as I modeled my slider after that of Cone. If you threw sidearm to a righty, they would end up out of the batters box. The funny thing was he threw 3/4's naturally and had plus plus velocity. I threw more over the top and was trying to learn that pitch as a way to wipe out righties. I could throw a great 12/6 curve. I couldnt throw the slider to save my life. He was playing catch with me in the back yard asked me what I was trying to throw. He asked how it was thrown. I showed him the grip and gave him a pretty generic tutorial on the slider, he immediately threw a first pitch slider that was better than anything I saw. I hated him for it. His slider was sick. My son now is 10 and i have learned from most of my mistakes. Throws from a more natural arm slot, and the first pitch he learned was a two seam fastball. Everything he throws moves. When he gets older he will thank me.
