A lot of times, the Angels like to bargain hunt. They got Abreu for like $5-7 mill last year because literally no one else wanted him. There was a report that came out that the Sox were willing to offer him $8 mill on a one year deal, but they couldn't offer it to him because there was no where for him to play (putting two and two together, the plan was to deal Dye to Cinci for Bailey and then sign Abreu, but Cinci backed out because, well, it didn't make sense for them to trade a prospect with upside for a player on the downside of his career with 1 expensive year left).
If it comes down to the Sox and Angels, he'll be in Chicago without a doubt in my mind.
