  1. When people make the post, "wow, just wow."
  2. QUOTE (joeynach @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 03:11 AM) I dont get it, they have a division that basically gurantees the Yanks and Red Sox playoff berths. They added about $30M in payroll this year and for what. What is so special about 2011 that warranted Vlad on a 1 year deal, DLee on a 1 year deal, Ducescher on 1 year deal, trade for Reynolds, trade for Hardy, and a 2 year deal for Kevin Gregg. Im not saying they didnt get better, but they did all this to go from 66 wins in 2010 to maybe 74 if things work out for them in 2011. Whats the point, yeah they will draw some more fans, but id rather just keep a low payroll and let my kids and young pitching staff develop and get major league time. They haven't had a winning season since '97. I applaud them for trying to turn around their culture of losing and reviving their club which has a rich history. And I think they're going to be an 80-win team at least in '11. I'll make a sig-bet with anyone willing to take it.

    2011 Films Thread

QUOTE (qwerty @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 06:17 AM) By this time tomorrow i will have completed what i consider the top 250 list on imdb. I only have a couple anime films left... for the record i shall not be watching nausicaä of the valley of the wind (number 250), as it just got added to the list very recently, and can be knocked off at any given moment. I will also not be watching the movie that sits at number 245. That movie would be three colors: red, which is the last part of the three colors trilogy by krzysztof kieslowski. Three colors: red also recently got added to the list, and it will be falling off any given day, so i won't be watching it. From 245 until 250 the movies fluctuates so often on the list... so i'm not gonna suddenly watch a film that just squeaked on, for it to be back off any day/week in the near future. Avatar?
  8. Anyone else using Firefox 4.0beta? I like it so far, seems a bit faster.
  9. If you are going to call for a run on 3rd and 3, at least don't run sideways.
  10. 3rd down play call could not have been much worse.
  11. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 06:03 PM) Hester just couldn't get it going today Shouldn't he have been far enough back so there's no way he has to catch the ball running backwards?
  12. The Bears made a stunt work. I don't watch them very much but haven't seen that too often.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) I think you meant .339 for the wOBA. Which last year would've been the 10th best wOBA for 3B in all of baseball. This projection is nutty.

Word is Ricky Gervais is guest starring on The Office next week as David Brent. Michael Scott is based on David Brent, who Ricky played in the original and superior Office UK, so this is exciting news.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 03:13 PM) This deal really makes no sense when you think about it. Even assuming Votto has 2-3 more seasons like he had in '10, would he really have made that much more through arbitration than what he'll be making now? If you use the 40/60/80 rule, (the percentages of their market value a player earns in each arbitration year) and assume Votto continues to be a 7-win MVP-caliber player, the Reds just saved themselves a bunch of money.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 12:10 PM) I'd be shocked if they add the $45M in payroll you are suggesting. I could be wrong, we'll see in April. Prepare to be shocked. Martinez: 12/50 Benoit: 5.5/16.5 Inge: 5.5/11.5 Peralta: 5.25/11.25 Ordonez: 10/10 Penny: 6 (incentives)/6 $44.25M in free agent contracts for '11. $105.25M by total contract sizes.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 16, 2011 -> 11:59 PM) He also has a 2011 Corvette Z06 which I believe he's had for about 5 months now, nicest kept car you'll ever see. Pretty sure that thing has less than 50 miles on it though and that's not an exaggeration. He's a nut job when it comes to cars. You should be driving this whenever you can get a chance.
