  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 09:22 PM) sources? multiple? Inside the organization, or otherwise? Sorry for the questions, but I'm very curious. That would be big news, obviously. And this is kind of out of the blue. started inside and leaked outside it was passed on from a number of people and got to me. When i heard who it came from it did not sound so far fetched. But im sure many of you think im bs (so be it), but i believe its gonna happen before the meetings. I heard it from a chain of people. but these people seem quite reliable.
  2. Aaron Rowan will be a white sox by the end of the weekend. I have sources
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) What inning do you suppose Jim Thome hits the majority of his HRs in? So If someone answers this. Let me guess you will throw some obscure statistic back? How about you answer the question. Would you have like to see Jim Thome come to the plate 9th inning, 2 outs, down by one with a runner on 3rd? Im sure I know your answer and that could be why you are in a minority on this one
  4. I think its also a matter of respect. I dont see a problem wearing white sox gear at say a rockies game. However, people that wear gear of their team of preference at a rival park is asking for trouble. Whether its wrong or right, trouble is gonna follow. For example, red Sox fan would not wear red sox gear to a yankees game when red sox are not playing. If one did they are asking for trouble. I also think its is disrespectful because you know what kind of reaction you are gonna get. Its almost as if you are mocking
  5. QUOTE(Winning Ugly @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) Man I was thinking about this last night as I watched Thome ground out. I listed the exact four on the list, and man it's almost too close to call really. Tadahito has had some HUGE clutch abs in games this year, as has Paulie and JD, but Crede stands out more. Thome hasn't been clutch for us at all this season. in fact, I don't think he has many RBIs this year that occurred after the 6th inning. Whoa be careful saying Thome is not clutch around here. I got grilled last time I said that. But I feel better now because I have watched the same thing this year from him. Including last night. I guess Im not crazy ANd that was exactly what I meant when talking about clutch. HR's or big hits after 6 0r 7th. Not a homer in the 1st or third that turned out to be a beneficial in the end. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) It's just as simple as this. Tie game, must-win, bottom of the ninth...who do you want up? For me, it's sure as heck Crede. That is exactly what clutch means. And I would put JT at the bottom of that list for clutch
  6. Not pretty but its a win....A must needed win considering losses from Boston and Minny
  7. Great job soxtalk whipping boys Pods and Javy
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 04:45 AM) There seems to be a good amount of people who also have this "feeling" about Jim, I at times admit that I feel it myself. But in all reality it is just not true, when you go back through the season the guy has been incredibly clutch, even as recently as last night in the 11th, what he did there is just one of those things that you don't normally remember. I think the amount of times he's been K'd late in games by LOOGYs may be skewing some opinions here, those tend to stand out more than anything. Maybe youre right. I guess when i mean clutch.I mean late in games (8th or 9th inning). A time when Crede and Dye come through. Cant remember a time when Jim's come through late in a game, but maybe he hasnt had opportunities. By all means, Im not Thome bashing, just sometimes this team reminds me of jerry Manuel teams and Jim reminds me of a member of that team. And I just dont want to go back to those times. Very one dimensional lately. But i guess I just get that feeling because our pitchers are terrible like they were back then.
  9. sorry about that double post....but I watch every game and to me it seems Jim is good for a solo homer early in the game and thats it. I know his numbers indicate a great year but I just cant help myself from getting a sinking feeling when he comes up late in games. When I think of clutch I do not think of Jim Thome. I think of Joe Crede and Jermaine Dye. And there has to be a reason why I think these guys are and Jims not. But i guess Im crazy if Im the only one who thinks he could come through a lot more late in games. Dont know what team im watching I guess.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 04:11 AM) Also, on the whole Thome thing, Jim has 3 HRs close and late which is equal to Konerko and 1 behind both Dye and Crede who have 4. So yeah, he's not not just hitting meaningless HRs. One more thing, 4/22/06 Jim Thome single handedly won this game against the best pitcher in baseball. First of all, I dont know what that first part of your post means But 3 out of 34 homers doesnt sound too convincing. Secondly, if you have to go back to April before you can remember a time where he came through for us in the clutch, there is a problem there. And hes hasd plenty of opportunities
  11. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 04:05 AM) I think blaming Thome is way off base here. Look at his statistics, he's having a monster season. Without Thome, we aren't .5 games up on the WC (or maybe .5 back, if the Twins won). What about the 7-8-9 today? Bases loaded, no out, and we get three straight outs? Thats bad, bad news. Im not blaming Thome. Yes his numbers are very indicative of a great year statistically. However, he reminds he of sammy sosa when with the cubs. Great numbers statistically if not better, but when it came to teh clutch, he was no where to be found. And if you remember those years, these two players seem very much a like IMO
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 04:03 AM) Jim Thome has 18 HR with runners on, that's over half of his total HRs which is pretty damn good. 9 HR, 50 RBI, .367/.500/.785/1.285 W/ RISP. 34 AB, 2 HR, 11 RBI .265/.390/.471/.861 W/ RISP & 2 out, still not horrible. Jim Thome is not the problem, there are so many other players to who deserve so much more blame. Nice numbers but can you name the last time he got a clutch hit for us at a crucial time? I watch every game and it seems like every time he comes up late in a game and we need a homer or hit, he doesnt do anything If u know a time when hes come through when needed..Please refresh my memory
  13. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 03:54 AM) If Riske does his job, maybe Sox win. Another ESPN game where we're getting blown out, make an incredible comeback and then fall short. Ugh. Jim Thome, please do something one of these days, meaningless solo homer, strikeout or walk isn't cutting it. Win ballgames for us, stud. Cant agree more with the Thome comment. He cant get a clutch hit to save his life. May sound crazy but Id rather have ross gload hitting in that situation than Thome. Solo homer in the first inning is not gonna do anything for us. AHHH hes so frustrating Old cliche. "Dont tell me what you hit, Tell me when you hit it"
