  1. I'm glad you posted this. Since hearing various posters say Santos is a mental midget I've been trying to find closer stats and this provides them. We could certainly be worse off than with Santos as closer. His save percentage is the only thing that a top close would be better. The peripherals are outstanding.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 06:47 AM) All of the sudden I hate you. hahaa ! How come ? Don't like that song ?
  3. They say misery loves company. We can build a factory and make misery. Frustrated incorporated.
  4. No it's not a useless thread. It's tradition when the Sox win .
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) So why are Dunn and Rios playing? Better question...Why am I bothering with this argument? Isn't it obvious ? Ozzie wants Dunn to finish with more HR's than Lillibridge.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) Ha no problem, it felt good to vent a little anyways. None of that was directed at you either. As little attention as I paid to the team this year, it was extremely frustrating as a fan because you knew exactly how it was going to play out. Some of us just have a tendency to convince ourselves that this year is going to be different. In the past 10 years, its only been different 2 times. I am convinced things would have been much better if they had brought up Viciedo and to a lesser extent De Aza before DV's injury. His injury then screwed up bringing him up for another month or more. Just shows how much weight big contracts really carry .
  7. Unfortunately the best and worst move the Sox can make is getting rid of/keeping Buerhle. Pierre gone. Frasor gone (get the Type B pick). Thornton gone. Both replaced by Reed , Infante, Santiago whoever. Impossible to move Peavy, Rios, Dunn unless packaged with someone like Sale but that defeats the purpose of having good young talent to replace old expensive talent. If Buerhle /Quentin et al are traded/unsigned its a direct result of keeping Peavy , Dunn , Rios and those guys are the most despised guys by fandom for big contracts and under performance . Attendance will be even worse next year unless all 3 of the sucky 3 turn it around. Not looking good at all so I expect payroll to be somewhere between $15-20 million less next year. Sale, Humber and Stewart almost certainly will get a shot at the rotation considering they all are cheap and the Sox need to maximize value in their current state. Danks will be shopped . I know people suggest Floyd as the greater trade piece based on contract but something has to be done with Danks. So look for the Sox to get more young arms in any trades they make. I think the current infield stays intact IF Ozzie and coaches are gone. A lot depends on who is the manager next year.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 02:45 AM) If I am interpreting your correctly, then you are wrong. I am one of the biggest homers on this board. I also look at things realistically and objectively and can see that, because the White Sox struggled early and because the magical powers of "CANNOT BE BEATEN" have transferred from the Twins to the Tigers, the White Sox are going to lose this division. I am happy both Humber and Stewart pitched well, and it doesn't surprise me in the least that Humber getting some time off saved his arm and, as a result, his performance improved, even if it was against this s***astic version of the Twins. I don't care what number they pick at - the general talent level of guys between 6-20 is virtually microscopic, excluding players with signability issues. The best prospect in the game last year was drafted in the 20th round. The (second) best prospect in the game this year was a first rounder - drafted 25th overall. (oh, and for shiznits and gizzigles, the 2009 MiLB.com players of the year, both pitching and hitting? some dudes named Dan Hudson and Chris Carter. For the record, neither were first round picks) The only thing I care about right now is that Reinsdorf and the board make the right call and fire Ozzie (because he will not accept reassignment within the organization) and either fire or reassign Williams (because I believe he would, and he is a good baseball mind to have on board - just no longer as the GM). There is simply no justification for this mess, and if the manager and GM cannot work together, then both must go. Ha no my post had nothing to do with yours actually. I just hit reply instead of fast reply . Actually just wanted to add that to my 1st post. Sorry for the confusion.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) Do you know how I know that the Twins are bad? The White Sox have won 7 of 8 and 8 of 10 against them. Do you know how badly the White Sox messed up early in the year? With virtually the same roster of nobodies, has beens, and never will be's, the Twins could still easily win the season series. Apologies to the guys who want a higher draft pick.
  10. Stewart really needed a good start and he came up with a great one. Humber looked good too. Twins are bad but nice to see candidates for the rotation next year step up.
  11. Even Vizquel can drive the ball off this guy. Dunn had at least 2 good pitches to hit. I wish he'd move off the plate just a little bit to force him to drive the ball to center and left center and negate the shift a bit(when he can actually make contact.)
  12. I feel worst for Lillibridge. He is always the odd man out. For a guy who has made great fielding plays and hit for surprising power he needs a real chance too.
  13. It's all AJ's fault ! No wins since he came back. Damn cleanup hitters.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 06:41 PM) Not to sound too critical, but if this is our #1 prospect, our organization is in worse shape than I thought. I was expecting a little bit more electric stuff. Hershisher and Valentine like his delivery. Fastball seems pretty live. Decent slider. Kind of dinking him to death. If he's got a changeup he should use it.
  15. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) Hey roc, having a cold one? What is everybody drinking? Maybe talking about beer is better LOL Maybe I'll go open a Rolling Rock.
  16. Comic relief. Rookie hazing. Rooks wearing pink Hello Kitty backpacks with multicolored large wings on them.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) This weekend in Detroit! Let us bow our heads in prayer and ask for divine guidance as we smite those Tigers. I know people will say God doesn't take sides in a sports event, but this is the SOX for crying our loud I hope the results of the 1st 2 games hasn't destroyed your faith.
  18. At least we can't say it was the kids fault. Ahhh what might have been had they called them up earlier. Thank you guys in charge.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 06:02 PM) I figuratively screamed all offseason that those 88 wins were fools gold. "Hey, with the way we started last year and the struggles of so many key guys, and the fact Mark Kotsay was our primary DH, we still won 88 games." That became like a mantra around here. You know KW probably echoed those same thoughts. And that is where "ALL-IN" began. What a f***in' Tsunami this franchise is. Must be awesome to be right so much. Oh except a few days ago when you said I was hallucinating and I proved you wrong. But did you say anything in the thread after I did ? No. How bout after I pm'ed you ? Not even the courtesy of a response.
  20. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) I haven't been this mad at the results of a baseball game in a long long time. I left the house at the rain delay... and they lost? This is just one of those seasons boys and girls. I still have faith and I'm still a White Sox fan, but this one is painful. I truly believe that next year will be a lot better for the Sox - especially with a new coaching staff. I like your attitude Chet. Just stare at the booty in your avatar for a minute or so and you'll feel better.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) Shockingly both Quentin and Thornton can still be traded during the offseason. They obviously weren't offered too much for them or they would have been gone, and the guys they probably would have received for them you wouldn't see play this year, unless you followed the minor leagues. Dunn isn't playing anymore. If Quentin were healthy, Rios wouldn't be playing anymore. I couldn't agree more they played way too long. Its one reason why I'm going to be an ex seasonticketholder unless both KW and Ozzie are gone. But a total rebuild means you have to draft well. Real well. The Sox were horrible in 1986, horrible in 1987, horrible in 1988 and horrible in 1989 when they last did a total rebuild. They got extremely lucky and got McDowell, Ventura, Thomas and Fernandez in the draft. They wanted Mike Harkey, but the Cubs took him so they settled for McDowell, inexplicably, the Cubs who had been looking for a 3rd baseman for many years took someone who never made it to the major leagues instead of Ventura, the Sox wanted Jeff Jackson but Philadelphia drafted him, so they missed out on a guy who never made the major leagues and had to settle for a HOFer, and Fernandez was only available because Milwaukee went cheap on him the year before. If a couple of those go the other way, it may be 6 or 7 or 8 or even more years of being pitiful. Those wishing for a rebuild will be 1st in line for your season tickets , I'm sure.
