  1. We need Q very badly on this team . Maybe KW gets creative and we end up with a few pieces for next year without hurting the club for this year and dump some salary and in the process bring up Tank and lose Pierre. I know how impossible that all sounds . I just know I want Q to stay and Viciedo up . If any pitcher goes its Jackson. It would suck to see Q go to make room for Vicedo while Pierre stays.
  2. If anyone goes its him. Salary has to be cut. But if he doesn't go it's because KW won't be able to get anywhere near what he gave up for him. He can always say we were in the middle of the pennant race and couldn't afford to give up pitching. So Kenny's got his bases covered, so to speak , no matter what.
  3. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) Well, De Aza with 2HR tonight, Viciedo 0-4, BB, K. Doing his best Adam Dunn impression. If he was impersonating Dunn he would have K'ed 3 times.
  4. Ok this got to the 2nd page so I had to bump it. 2 runs in 2 games at Wrigley. 3 gwrbi by one of our worst hitters. Dunn sucking more and more every day. Games against division opponents coming up. Too many cold hitters and it's possible PK is hurting. Call up Viciedo now now NOW !!
  5. Juan had a good series .Actually stole a base for the 1st time in a while , 3 rbi , didn't drop any fly balls and even had a sac fly and almost hit a HR. Thing is if you give Viciedo playing time I'll wager he has more 3 rbi games in half a season than Juan has all year. The offense needs him plain and simple. Who he replaces on any given day is not really the point.
  6. My Viciedo to the outfield posts didn't get any support .
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) I can't think of a more glaring sign that your manager has lost his team than having to bench a starting OF during a game for loafing, only to then lose said game because the guy you brought in for the loafing outfielder was also loafing. I'm not sure Lilli was loafing. Yea he didn't bust his ass to field that blooper but it's entirely possible he just showed his lack of experience. I doubt he was expecting Tulo to go from 1st to home on it. He probably just figured he's stop at 3rd. Looked like he was playing at no doubles depth so was pretty deep to start with.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 05:32 AM) I'm pretty sure I've seen David Ortiz do it before. It actually kinda makes sense if you can get it down. I don't really care what power hitter has done it before. Do they still put the shift on for Ortiz ? Yes. When there are men on base and you need a big hit did he bunt ? I'm not against trying it a few times when slumping but guys like Thome and Dunn never bunt and asking them to do and having it be some type of magical cure for the problem isn't likely to happen. It's more likely to make us applaud the effort but will probably inspire more amusement then anything else.
  9. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) I always wanted to ask Jim Thome that. Seems apparent to me that guys like Dunn and Thome made their millions being sluggers ,being pull hitters. To all of a sudden start bunting down the 3rd base line is counter intuitive to what made them their money and probably a lot more difficult than doing what is your bread and butter. You don't bat in the middle of the order to be a singles hitter
  10. I realize with Viciedo the Sox have to look at the big picture and keep him as long as they can. That being said baseball is a game you play season to season and if you have a chance to grab the brass ring you go for it. That's what the whole "All In" slogan should mean. The Sox thought they were "All In" signing Dunn and PK and AJ. They were mistaken . Now it is time to admit that mistake and bring up Viciedo. Every win counts and the longer they wait could make the difference in this division . If the Sox finish 2nd or 3rd less than 5 games from 1st the delay in not calling up Viciedo will be greatly magnified in my mind. We have enough pitching but the every day lineup is pitifully weak. Even with Viciedo nothing is guaranteed but I sure would feel better taking a shot with him in the lineup than without. If not bringing him up has nothing to do with keeping him longer then there is no reason whatsoever to keep him down there. Something is wrong, just very very wrong if someone like Kenny can't make a reasonable argument to Ozzie using advanced baseball stats and common sense about how bad Pierre or Dunn has been. DH him, play him in the outfield I don't care but get him the f*** in there every day until he proves he's no better than who he is replacing.
  11. This team has show a lot of balls the last 2 games. I'm encouraged.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) It's become a world-wide epidemic. And only one moron doesn't seem to get it. Ozzie has to be beyond a shadow of a doubt the worst World Series winning manager in league history. That was very hyperbolic !! You're gone !
  13. Ozzie's steadfast refusal to bench Pierre for extended periods or bat him 9th makes this an easy choice.
  14. Dunn had been so bad that pulling Frank Thomas out of retirement might get better results and Frank looks like he weighs 350 now.
  15. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 04:55 PM) When he joined Sox, Walt Hnirak (spelling??) was hitting coach, and he changed Robin's swing. I never was convinced this was called for -- Robin had such a great, natural swing. Top hand would come off all the time. I'm interested to see what some of you guys think about that. Hriniak. I have no idea how he changed Robin but Robin had a nice career so can't argue with the results. Hriniak built his reputation with the Red Sox and Ted Williams criticized his methods saying it robbed hitters of power. Frank Thomas trusted Hriniak and always turned to him when he hit a funk.
  16. In the 1st and 4th innings the 1-2 combination of Pierre and Vizquel looked really good. Each inning Pierre got a single to left . Early in the count Vizquel squares to bunt to draw the infield in . So you know the hit and run is coming. Omar hit it hard the next pitch but foul with Pierre going. Omar eventually gets the hit and Alexei hits a groundball to get the Sox 1st run of the day home. Same situation in the 8th. Pierre hit. Omar squares to bunt takes a ball. Next pitch, I tell my friend, Arizona should pitch out. They don't. Vizquel executes a perfect hit and run on an up and away pitch and the start of the 5 run inning to break open the game.
  17. I am really enjoying Paulie's hitting and Humber's pitching !
  18. Is it too early to put Morel and Lillibridge in for Teahen and Dunn now ? They're used up their quota of good plays between them already .
  19. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 01:27 PM) While I agree that it sucks to see Pierre everyday, Lilly Flower isn't an everyday player either. If Pierre can be an every day player in Ozzieworld then so can Lillibridge . More power better defense probably better speed too.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) Brent doubled and scored our first run last night. Only way he'll learn not to do that. While everyone else fires away at Oz, KW, Pierre, Beckham, Rios and Dunn you get your little jabs at Ozzie when Morel is benched. It's unique I'll give you that.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) Honestly, and this includes me, I think too much is being made of Viciedo not being up yet. Yes, he should definitely be here. That's a no-brainer. But he's not going to save this offense. Rios, Dunn, AJ, Beckham and Morel are not going to start hitting because Dayan is in the lineup. I don't think Pujols can save this lineup right now. Even the most pessimistic poster could not have predicted that on June 18th we'd have this many Rafael Belliard (the worst hitter I've ever seen) wannabees. Greg Walker needs to come out and have a press conference and explain this s***. They owe us that much. Rios? Are you serious? He is TERRIBLE. Beckham? WTF happened to this guy? Morel? Where's all this gap power he was supposed to have? I'm not looking at Viciedo to "save" the offense just make it better. 10 shutouts is way to many for a few months of baseball. If Dunn can rebound and get into the middle of the order Vicedo is ideal for hitting at least 6th. We've been wasting way too many good starting pitching performances and my fear is once the offense turns it up a notch the pitching will regress. Like you said it should be a " no-brainer."
  22. Don't forget Lillibridge who had a bad day at the plate but possibly saved the game with his leaping attempt to catch a potential game changing HR by Melvin Mora on a grooved 3-0 pitch by Danks. Danks then proceeded to get out of the 2nd and 3rd 1 out situation by getting Blanco to pop out and striking out a good hitting pitcher.
