QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 02:42 PM) That way the last 20-30 minutes seemed kind of anti-climactic. Ozzie, you might want to set aside that idea of writing a book about the 2010 season for the time being, because NOBODY in Chicago will care to read it with things looking as bad as they do now. Goodbye Putz, Jenks and Andruw Jones. It was nice knowing you. Hello, Sale. Hopefully Konerko, if this is the end of his Sox career, can go out on a better note and the White Sox can actually take 2/3 in Minnesota...I wouldn't bet on it happening, but there's always hope. Sale is the flavor of the week just as Putz was while he was doing well. Innings catch up to guys like Putz and Garcia who pitched so few of them last year. -
QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) We have to - have to - have to win this game and the upcoming series in minnisota. Let's go mother f***ers!!!! Show some balls!!!! The two most important people IMO are Carlos Q and JJ Putz. If Q can get going on a hot streak and JJ could pitch another 20ip of scoreless ball - we could be in very good shape That's good you cheered yourself up. I suggest getting laid.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) If Konerko hits a gapper, then Beckham scores from first. Giving up the first out is just so idotic when Perry was clearly rattled. I wish more teams would give up outs to the Sox. Tha first decision to bunt with Beckham with Jones on 2nd drove me nuts. My daughter was here so I wasn't online but as I told her Beckham's as good or better than anyone on the Sox hitting it to the right side and only is hitting like .370 over his last 25 games and with Pierre coming up ! So you have a guy who can get Jones to 3rd, drive him in and doesn't leave it up to Pierre to hit a flyball if he is allowed to swing the damn bat. That's 3 solid reasons not to bunt with Beckham there.

Aaaargh.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) but wouldnt it had been a double instead of a triple if its played right? He wanted to catch it. Can't really blame him for that .
-
You're just dealing with tired arms now with Garcia and Putz , both of whom already have pitched way more than last year.
-
Ha Jones say's I'm sorry.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) Wow, that was pathetic by Jones. More BRUTAL managing by Ozzie! Seriously, where the heck is Thornton. More pathetic by Putz than Jones. You're just getting back as fast as you can on shots like that , got to take your eye off the ball and then try to pick it up later. Oh damn now that was pathetic.
-
OH wtf
-
I think that's 3 appearances in a row Putz has allowed a lead off hit.

So I wrote something about the White Sox

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 11:16 AM) Luck is just another word for randomness. And in statistics, there is a lot of randomness, as is there in baseball. Tom Tango posted something about luck the other day. If all teams had equal talent and played a 162 game season, not all of them would be .500. You'd have 10 that are above .500. 10 around .500. 10 under .500. If they played a million times, all of them would be exactly .500, of course. Basically, baseball is 60% skill, 40% luck/randomness. Ok you lost me on that last statement. These are very highly skilled athletes. Is it 40% luck when a fast man can steal a base ? Is it 40% luck when that same fast man who has spent many hours practicing can run down a shot in the gap ? Is it 40% luck that a player hits .300 for his whole career ? To attribute 40% luck to the best baseball players in the world seems to trivialize the time spend honing their craft. The cream rises to the top in any specialized skill and it's not through luck . It's through constant repetition, God given talent and dedication.
