  1. Neither Vizquel or Rios can get Pierre home. It's up to PK to get a 2 out knock.
  2. Boesch loses Pierre shot in the light. Pierre ends up and 3rd. Scored a triple.
  3. Beckham just misses another oppo HR . Off the top of the wall for a triple .
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 08:15 PM) Leaving Santos in the game is absolutely inexcusable. Santos K's Damon for 2nd out on a very nice change up and now Peralta grounds into a force out. Leaving Santos in paid off.
  5. Tying run at the plate with 1 out for Tigers after Santos walks Jackson. 1 hr. 23 minute rain delay . Very odd Santos would still be pitching.
  6. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) Thanks chw, and thanks to anyone else who read it. I'm sure I'll end up writing plenty about the Sox on here, seeing as they're the team I follow the closest. Good job Matt. I am pretty old school on stats because well I'm old and advanced metrics are useful. I guess I'll really have to bone up on them but they will never role off my tongue the way ERA, RBI an batting average do. I think the thing that bothers me most about sabermetrics is the constant use the the word "luck" in batting and pitching advanced stats. I know with pitching you can also do line drive rates. Maybe in Gavin's case hitters were just hitting the ball harder leading to worse numbers because of location or hangers or whatever. I guess you can tell me if that is true or not. Or maybe you already told me but because those stats are pretty unfamiliar to me I just didn't catch it. Is it really too simplistic to think when a pitcher makes quality pitches he's more likely to pitch better and have better "luck" ?
  7. I think he will DH and play the field. There's really no excuse not to have him in there against RH's. Against righties we'll see both Teahen and Kotsay in there more often than not.
  8. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) What happened w/ Viciedo? Flipped channels and missed some (all the?) offense 3 pitches one K . Jones foul popout. Lillibridge bunt pop out.
  9. Matusz was cruising but Showalter says that's enough and made the right decision.
  10. QUOTE (johnnymick @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) Shoulda tried to go home first, I guess you gotta get the guaranteed out though No you definitely go home on that and try to get the home to 1st DP. Neither runner was particularly fast.
  11. Well you try to hit it to the right side and get a hit but if you don't get a hit at least you moved the runner over. That's why when you see it happen the guys in the dugout give out 5 highs as if he had gotten an RBI.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) Why were Hawk and Stone praisin Rios' "sacrifice" there? It's terrible to give up an out there. Because he moved the runner to 3rd base like he is supposed to with 0 outs.
  13. Perplexed why AJ is even in that spot in the order or even the game.
  14. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) Red Sox Agree To Deal With Carlos Delgado http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/08/red-...os-delgado.html There's always Carl Everett . This also from MLB Trade rumors :Carl Everett is still playing baseball, hitting .276 with seven home runs for the Atlantic League's Newark Bears.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) Yep, he rubbed ornery old Dye the wrong way. Woopdeedoo. Must have been some pretty bad chemistry if we won the division. Who do we get to blame as ruining the chemistry last year? 07? 06? All BS. We gave up on him, dumped him for literally nothing when we could have at least given him a shot to get his value out of the basement. Horrible move all the way around and I'd gamble more money on everyone giving the "well well he was a horrible clubhouse guy!!!! yeah thats it!!!" than him actually being that bad or Ozzie plain not liking a guy who attracted attention to himself (I don't blame him) I like your post in general. Teams win with good and bad chemistry. As a matter of fact the more talent on a team the bigger the ego's the more likely you are to find personality clashes. Think Reggie Jackson/Billy Martin/Thurman Munson. Think Oakland A's of the 70's. Sure it would be just peachy if they all got along but it's not a prerequisite to winning.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 06:54 PM) Wow, Pena still in the game. He's got to be. If he makes it through this inning I expect to see him out there again next inning.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 06:48 PM) Wow, Viciedo's poor eye cost him there. I really wish he'd only face LHP. Anyone can K on a bad ball just like Pierre , who rarely K's, just did.
