  1. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) jesus guys chill the hell out. the angels are 3-7 right now. the braves for the last 10 years it seems started out under .500 and then played .700 after the break. nothing is over, not the season, not this game. lol Nothing is over till i say it is . Was it over when the Germans bombed .... oh nvm.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) Get Mark Kotsay and his double plays out of the 5 hole Ozzie! That I can agree with !
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) It wouldn't help cause it's just not realistic, especially given how awful Garcia looks. People think we're the only team that is interested in Gonzalez, but unlike Peavy (in which KW was the only one really pursuing him), Boston would surely be able to give up more. One good start one awful . See balance, he's been good and bad yet you say awful. And yes its not realistic to assume we'd be the ones getting Agon but you said getting him wouldn't help and I'll stand by my thought that its absurd. Agree to disagree
  4. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) What is there to be so positive about, honestly? Tell me? And thats a silly statement, go to the gamethread for the last game we won, and see how many 'negative' posts I made. I've been around here long enough to give props when its due, but to also point out the glaring bad parts of this team too. Great pitching , been in almost every game , hitting will get better . Rios doesn't look as bad as last year. The lineup has guys capable of hitting 15+ HR's at all but leadoff and catcher. Jones might not be as terrible as we all thought. Pitching pitching pitching. Since I hear so much about the hitting.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) This was the main point of contention in the offseaon. We all recognized the state of the division, and the quality of our pitching staff, and a lot of us were frustrated that while the Twins were making active efforts to improve on the offensive end, the White Sox refused to make lateral moves. Oh I've said the same thing . 2 year window of opportunity with our starters and to try and eek by without an offense is a gamble. But yea we get it offense is bad but not season giving up on bad.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) We've also faced mediocre pitching for the most part this season. Baseball is filled with mediocre pitching.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:29 PM) Go back and read the game threads. I'm one of the only ones to comment on nice defensive plays, and I ALWAYS say nice things when players do well. Yes you do . I'm still pretty damn sure the negative far outweighs the positive and your followers make it all the more so.
  8. QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:27 PM) If I'm not mistaken, you quoted a post from him where he talked about how he knew this offense would be horrible. I agree that adding Gonzalez would be huge for this line up. You are mistaken . The post that started this off was one that said getting Gonzales wouldn't help , to which I posted "how absurd".
  9. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:25 PM) So we're fans of the enemy because we're realistic about what to expect from a badly put together 'smallball' A.L. team? Nothing wrong with being a realist. Maybe I just like balance. Try counting your negative posts in a loss and your positive posts in a win. I'm just saying if you like the Sox most of the time I don't see it.
  10. QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) It's not like the offense has done anything to prove him remotely wrong thus far. I'm not exactly saying we should all be pessimists, but it didn't exactly take a genius to see that the offense would not be very good coming into the season. Even the most optimistic posters were talking about it being "good enough." Doesn't exactly inspire much confidence. We haven't hit much but we're in almost every game so adding a bat like Gonzales wouldn't help ? That's absurd.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:17 PM) For starters, this is the best Twins offense they've had since they became good again this decade. They can run away with this thing if we don't start hitting better. Great so your a Twins fan ? Cubs fan ? Twins got any weaknesses ?
  12. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) I'm sorry...there is absolutely NO excuse for this garbage product, every f***ing year in April, from this team, regardless of who is in the lineup. Oh now I get it . It's the month of April that's bad luck.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) I would have said the same thing before this season. This lineup just can't contend in the American League. For some dumb ass reason, Ozzie thought he was smarter than every other front office in the AL. The Sox rarely very have players just come out of nowhere and have big offensive seasons. There were so many "we'll have a good offense IF" coming into the season. So you say the same thing , over and over about how bad the Sox are. You're a knowledgeable poster and have influenced many a poster into a more negative approach. A season is a marathon not a sprint. The pitching is great and the offense isn't . So what else is new ?
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) Absurd how? If you think this team is one bat away from being a WS contender, then you have a lot more confidence in Pierre gaining his speed and AJP not showing the typical wear and tear of catchers. It's absurd you can be so pessimistic this early in the season . Most of the time you don't even sound like a Sox fan.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 05:03 PM) Screw that...with how certain players look, you hold off in case we just fall apart and then unload guys. Getting Gonzalez won't make up for AJP, Alexei, Pierre, etc. How absurd.
  16. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) It seems the White Sox have had trouble scoring runs after games in which they score a lot of runs. Opening Day they scored 6 runs and then only scored 6 runs total over the next two games. They scored 8 runs Monday and almost got no hit last night. Tonight they had a season high 11 runs and I am terrified about their next game. They seem to waste to many of their runs in one game rather than saving them up for close games where they could use them. I have been watching baseball for a long time and my experience tells me this is obviously a trend we need to reverse. The Sox should have saved 9 of tonight's runs for future use. Since you have been watching baseball a long time you should be able to tell me how a team saves 9 runs from one game to another, other than from the inside of a Bacardi 151 bottle.
  17. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 07:03 PM) Go figure, we go out and dominate, and the game thread only reaches 23 pages. If that score were opposite, there'd be 50+ game thread pages, and at least 4 new threads about "xxxxxx needs to be FIRED!/Benched/Traded!!" Go you White Sox, nonetheless Manly men don't do compliments .
  18. Pena in for Sox . Nix fields groundball cleanly at third for the out.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 06:30 PM) Hard for 2,000 people to be noisy in a building that size. I said in here like you know Soxtalk.
