  1. I know you didn't pick it out after the game I saw the post was from 2 hours ago. Look you follow baseball, I just don't see the point or the connection between a botched rundown and Hahn needing to go. Hahn needing to go was established many years ago and baseball games are 9 innings not 1. Seasons are also 162 games not 35. Things are bleak. I think we all get it.
  2. So we're into picking out a bad play in one game ? I saw the highlights from the Angels game yesterday. They threw the ball all over the place. It's baseball. Seems like they got over it since the the Sox won 17-4.
  3. ??? Great timing started playing decent baseball and Nightengale comes out with this ? It's like Eloy and Robert are both hot at the same time, quick, put something in Eloy's drink and give him appendicitis and knock him out of action for 4-6 weeks. Burger picking up where he left off hitting bombs and even playing OK at 3rd base ? Bam strained oblique ! Who's next from the Sox ironmen that would hurt the most Cease? Vaughn ? Benintendi ? Hmm a starting pitcher going down right when Hendriks comes back seems about right .
  4. Nah the whole Sox history as a franchise is like that. The Reinsdorf era isn't much different than the last 100+ years.
  5. 2 series wins in a row . Cutting into the run differential deficit. One brief shining moment ?
  6. Glad to see Vaughn have a good game. How the hell did he get a triple ? He's been hitting the ball hard and hasn't had much to show for it.
  7. It's like me hoping in ST that all the core guys could stay healthy and tap into their potential because Robert and Eloy could never stay together and play together at their peaks. It still isn't happening and the team is still piling up injuries. But for one game against bad pitching it looks pretty good. Eloy and Robert barely started to get hot at the same time and look what happens. Eloy gets an appendectomy right out of the blue. It's like some sadistic baseball God hates the Sox .
  8. Wow I can't believe I just dropped in and here you are saying the same thing I said at basically the same time.
  9. Looks like we got the Spring training Alberto back for a game.
  10. I guess they really wanted to win this series.
  11. Probably not but when the ball is hit on the left side you're not supposed to advance to 3rd .Better safe than sorry . It wasn't a bad baserunning play at all. He's already in scoring position. I think you are nitpicking.
  12. I was thinking that also since he was moving away from 3rd and a throw back towards 3rd would've been difficult but it's possible since it was so close to 2nd that he could've flipped the ball to the 2nd baseman who would then throw to 3rd. He would've made it to 3rd if his 1st instinct was to go to 3rd but in that situation he was probably right heading back to 2nd base. The ball just got to the SS very quickly since it was hard hit.
  13. He really kept his head down on the ball on that pitch
  14. I get the cynicism but as we saw last year everyone except maybe Cease and Zavala and very few others can had down or injured years. Luckily speculating on being terrible for individual players usually doesn't happen . Plenty of guys start slow and things progress. Bad 1st halves turn into good 2nd halves. That's just baseball.
  15. If by anywhere close to 100% means he's back on the 26 in 2 weeks or less, then has to ramp up to get close to 100% for another couple weeks , the 1st couple weeks of June isn't so bad to put a guy in the pen who will more than likely be one of our best relievers.
  16. More than likely, however the good news is if you are wrong, is that most agree with you and no one will come back to say you were wrong if you are indeed wrong.
  17. https://southsideshowdown.com/2022/09/03/fantastic-rumors-update-white-sox-pitcher-garrett-crochet/ This is from early September of 2022 James Fegan does an incredible job covering the White Sox for The Athletic and the provided this very nice update. Hearing what he said about Crochet is amazing for everyone involved as he can be a legit difference maker. It sounds as if based on Fegan’s tweet that Crochet is planning on becoming a starter again in 2023. He prepared for 2021 as a reliever and is preparing for 2023 as a starter. I know things change but I'd wait to hear from Crochet again myself. Crochet and the Sox might be meeting halfway. Crochet wants to be more than a 1 inning guy and I doubt he wants to stop building up his arm at just 3 innings. I'd keep him down at least until June, maybe even July ,and see how he's progressing. Nothing is set in stone at this time.
  18. Depends on how many innings the Sox want to build him up to. They are going to have a hole or 2 in the rotation next year. They desperately need starters. Crochet has never been an effective starting pitcher before so it may be folly to expect him to become an effective starting pitcher who can go 5 + innings and stay healthy. We have no idea if that is what the Sox want or if they just want a long reliever for this year. Crochet has said he wants to try to be a starter. He has just returned from TJ surgery. USUALLY it takes 2 years to be back to full strength. It's rare a starting pitcher can come back and be effective in his 1st year back. Maybe Verlander can do it this year but remember he has had a LOT of starts in the past. Crochet doesn't have that. Crochet would be in uncharted territory. Remember he wasn't a good starting pitcher even in college . The most innings he ever pitched in college was 65 innings in in 2019 and 63.2 innings in 2018. He threw 54 innings in 2021 for the Sox. On April 2nd 2022, it was announced he would have Tommy John surgery the following week after pitching in Spring Training. I suppose if Crochet agreed perhaps the Sox could use him in long relief this year and allow him to go 3 innings max but is that what Crochet wants to do ? Or does he want to stay in the minors all year and try to build up to more innings and try to be a starting pitcher next year ?
  19. Andrus had a very nice over all game 1 for 1, 3R Bomb. 2 walks, SB and a great diving play up the middle for the out at 1st base. Grandal hurt when striking out. Probably his back. We'll see if he ends up on the IL and Perez comes up.
  20. I don't think Crochet is going to be back for a while. It'll take him a while to build up to at least 3 innings if not more than that.
