  1. QUOTE (Wise Master Buehrle @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) Seriously? The guy is one of our top producers since 2005, and now he hits his first slump of the season, he needs to be moved down? NOW, not earlier in the season, we HAVE to move him away from RF? I'm sorry but Dye's deficiencies in the outfield aren't any more apparent this week then they were on opening day. We made a commitment to have Jermaine Dye as the White Sox right fielder in 2009, and we had better honor it. The only move I see as being worthy is moving Q to #3, JD to #4, Thome to #5 and PK to #6. We're talking like Jermaine Dye is on the same level offensively as Kosuke Fukudome in 2008. Kosuke deserved to be demoted. Dye does not. But the whole point is he is not producing NOW and hasn't been since the AS break. Move him down in the order and let him bust out of it, but keeping him in the 3 hole is just asking for losses.
  2. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 03:29 PM) That's the issue, here. Right now Dye doesn't deserve to be in the third position. And he sure as hell doesn't deserve to be in RF. I'll guarantee the reason behind having Dye in RF every start, opposed to a DH on occasions, is he's playing for a contract; and significant time as a DH lowers his value. I'm sure he'd make a scene out of it, so rather than do what's best for the team we're appeasing a multi-millionaire in Dye. I don't even believe it's a conspiracy. No one can tell me the coaching staff doesn't see what we do in Dye turning singles into doubles and doubles into triples on a nightly basis. I believe this is the issue with having players like Konerko and Dye around. That is, veterans who have proven themselves as productive players in past years, and that alone gives them the right to work out their troubles at spots in the lineup where their struggles are hurting the ballclub. Guillen's just too damn scared to move them around because they're veterans. Granted, not a lot can be done with Konerko -- but I'd atleast try moving him down two spots and bringing up AJ. At this point in the season, on this roadtrip, how can it hurt? I agree wholeheartedly. This team has talent. Maybe just maybe we need to find the right way to combine the talent to turn it into a winning ball club on a semi-nightly basis. It's getting a bit late in the season to just let slumping hitters ride it out. We need wins pronto and in bunches.
  3. So you're going to tell me that the lineup doesn't need some kind of jump start? That you would leave Dye and Konerko batting 3/5 ? That you would keep playing Dye in RF and resting Rios so much ?
  4. Despite the slumps of Dye and Konerko they are occupying their usual places in the lineup. Oh sure you see Kotsay at 1st base once in a while but why is JD never the DH ? Why can't Quentin play RF ? Rios should be in CF every day yet he's got 4 or 5 days off in the last 10 days or so. Pods should never play CF and his OBP is plummeting. He's not getting any more walks and getting picked off too often. Isn't it time to try a 3/4 of Beckham and Quentin. Beckham seems to hit well with men on base and Q's power stroke is coming on strong. In his short time with the Sox I've seen Rios execute the hit and run perfectly twice, hitting the ball to the vacated 2nd base side both times. Should he be tried batting 2nd ? Alexei hit very well in the 2 hole earlier. There's just no way the Sox shouldn't have taken 2 out of 3 at home against a terribly slumping O's team especially when we had our 3 best pitchers going. It's time for Ozzie to get out of his funk and maybe the team will follow his lead.
  5. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 06:47 PM) I am scared that Ozzie won't move Dye from the 3 hole and Quentin into it, until its way too late. Oz does seem to be a little too complacent. Is .500 ball good enough for him ? The lineup needs a major shake up or shake out. I'd love to see Beckham at 3 and Q at 4. Maybe AJ back in the 2 hole or even Alexei or Rios. Beckham seems at his best with men on base so give the kid a shot be fore we slide into oblivion.
  6. I said 5-5 because I can't be pessimistic and always hope for the best. I think this team will tease us till the very end. Even if the Sox do poorly so will Detroit.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) Thome is hurting pretty bad. You could see it when they showed him at 1B earlier in that inning. All the more reason Ozzie should've pinch run for him after he hit that double in the 7th when AJ was thrown out at 3rd for the final out and before Thome had reached home.
  8. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 06:54 AM) "I got blisters, on my fingers" Beatles to those of you who don't know rock.
  9. Nice to hear Danks is kicking the dip habit. He always looked nasty when he was doing it.
  10. Danks ! Thornton ! Dotel ! Jenks ! Quentin !
  11. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 22, 2009 -> 06:51 PM) Come on Bobby, get Pie out. I'm not alone . 3 gone ! Winna !!
  12. Pie K's. 2 on 2 out . 1 more Bobby ! Adam Jones up.
  13. Walk to Roberts, 2 on 1 out. Pie pinch hitting.
  14. Danks, Thornton, Dotel all pitched well. Jenks will pitch the 9th. Kotsay grounds out to 2nd, Nix grounds out back to the mound.
  15. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 22, 2009 -> 06:32 PM) Why is this dead? Bear's game ??
  16. I knew Wise should've pinch run for Thome . And AJ never make the 3rd out at 3rd !
  17. Not bad 2 run inning. We'll get 9 at this rate.
