  1. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) If Beckham ends up as our #3 hitter, that means that either he's going put up a .900 OPS or the rest of our offense is lacking in power. I'd just rather not pigeon-hole Beckham. I can see him succeeding anywhere that you might need him in the lineup. He's that good.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) Sure, but Mauer? Derek Jeter is a better comparison. Yeah, kind of what I was thinking. That's an awfully liberal definition, not to mention Mauer is maybe the best pure left-handed hitter in the game. I just glossed over the Mauer part since his overall point was he'd make a good 3 hitter.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) Holy s***, let's not get carried away here. lol. I don't think that's getting carried away at all. He'll hit for average and power , no doubt about it.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) Ozzie said that because he wanted the guys in the clubhouse to not worry about looking over their shoulder everyday, and so that they wouldn't have to worry about the manager undercutting them. Its to keep the clubhouse in tact, nothing else. Maybe I'm more old school then Ozzie. D0 what's best for the team to produce. Our run production lately has been CRAP ( no offense to Richard or Poreda). Having Beckham at the bottom of the order is akin to putting Dye there as far as hitting ability goes. Beckham is a run producer plain and simple and this team needs run production. In my mind he isn't a rookie and he can handle it. We need wins and coddling the other hitters isn't producing enough wins.
  5. OK I can say it now . It's the Twinkiedome, none of you really expected MB to get it did you? I'm just hoping we can pull out a win.
  6. Helluva job now all I care about is winning ( ok maybe a no hitter)
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 06:31 PM) No. Johnny Vandermeer through two straight no hitters back in the 20's IIRC. 1938
  8. Good luck BA hope your career can last a few more years.
  9. Hard to believe Richard will be moved to the pen after 2 incredibly good starts. I'll believe it when I see it happen. But don't forget we have Garcia, too ,who did this in his 1st rehab start for Kanny courtesy of their website: Garcia, a two-time American League All-Star, fired three shutout innings in his first official start with the White Sox organization in 2009. The 33-year-old right-hander did allow two hits and walk a batter, but he also induced two double plays and struck out three to keep the Braves off the board. Garcia was limited to three innings as he builds his way back to the Bigs, but looked sharp in his brief stint. He seemed to focus primarily on his off-speed pitches, flashing both an effective slider and curveball.
  10. Nice Pena but you still weren't worth Brandon Allen who has 6 HR's in 11 games for Reno , the D'backs AAA team.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 07:30 PM) There's no way they can send him to the pen now is there? Nope.
  12. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) do you let the kid come out for his first CG? YES !
  13. Right on CR , another quality start . He's a stopper.
  14. Since when have 402 foot HR's become "tape measure ."
  15. Looked similiar to the pitch Alexei took that was a strike called a ball. Now let's see if Beckham can make them pay.
  16. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 06:53 PM) Mark threw one inning of scoreless ball. He worked quick. Way to represent Mark! Make that one PERFECT inning.
