  1. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 06:18 PM) Q! I asked facetiously.
  2. Si I mean geez LH hitter GO to the right side gets the job done, just uncalled for with 0 outs and the man already on 2nd.
  3. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) jesus... ozzie stop bunting for the love of christ. This.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) Once again, sorry, I am in Thailand and no MLB.TV because of slow wireless connection, so I couldn't "see" that AJ was running. :-( Unearned run should go to Richard if the runner at 3B scores (assuming we had an actual MLB CFer). Cept it wasn't an error therefore no unearned run.
  5. That's what's been getting CR in trouble lately , too many pitches right down the gut.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 05:41 PM) Bartlett (former Piranha instincts kicking in) with perfect positioning against Getz, who was 6 for 15 against TB as the leadoff hitter earlier in the year. Only cause AJ took off . The hit and run backfired there.
  7. Can't come out of the bullpen and walk people . It's as simple as that . Richard and Torres both known to throw strikes. Poreda not so much.
  8. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) I agree, and my intention wasn't to argue in the first place. However, I felt the need to point out that Josh Anderson has been an absolutely pathetic offensive player. Wise is in a whole different category of pathetic. Willie Harris in CF now thats an option !
  9. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) Josh Anderson vs. Brian Anderson this season is a much closer comparison. Josh would not have been much of an upgrade over Brian outside of base stealing. At the time I was advocating the Sox acquire him I was thinking of a platoon with Anderson since he's lefthanded . I think we agree in principle that he's a better choice than Wise but then again who isn't ? With the outfield we have right now 2 defensive replacements is a huge upgrade for late innings. The Sox D is their Achilles heal right now.
  10. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) And I'm pretty sure I wasn't disagreeing with anything you said. Merely pointing out that acquiring Josh Anderson would have solved nothing and stating that he has been horrible this year. He's been better than Wise and just as fast and a better defender and base stealer. Would have made the team better not solved the CF problem.
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 10:28 AM) Apparently, our idea of defense and Ozzie's idea are two different things. That's the quote that stood out to me also and the reason why BA is so much more important than Wise , though we're both beating a dead horse.
  12. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) Josh Anderson has been pretty horrendous himself this year. I'm pretty sure that's NOT the point I was making. it's all about the glove. It isn't coincidence that Crawford got an inside the park HR yesterday.
  13. Back in spring I was advocating that the Sox acquire Josh Anderson, who ended up on the Tigers. I was noting how similiar Josh and Brian Anderson are except for one major distinction. When BA was in the majors getting a few hundred AB's every year, JA was in the minors getting over 500 AB's every year. That to me speaks volumes on the development of BA's inability to hit. Could things have turned out differently if he had those extra AB's to develop ? Who know's ? But I will say one thing, BA is clearly a better all around player than Wise and releasing Wise would not have hurt the Sox at all. Not having BA's glove with an outfield of Oft injured in LF , Miscast in CF , and Slow and Slower in RF can cost games in what figured to be a tight race.
  14. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 09:44 PM) I think he was scared that the ball would scoot by him and the tying run would score I know the game thread gang thought he's should've caught it also. However , you are correct in your assessment. When faced with a situation where you can attempt to make a great catch but not making such could result in the tying run scoring and giving up extra bases, prudence is the correct course of action and the results, at least this time,proved he made the right call.
  15. From what I just heard on Comcast, Freddy was bragging about what he could do to Ozzie and Ozzie said he backed it up and was impressed. Cooper also was impressed saying Garcia could command the curve slider ,and change any time and has great feel on those pitches but was also impressed by his fastball and command. One more side session and if that goes well 4-5 starts in the minors.
  16. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) Great work by Matty, but Jenks to Pena scares the hell out of me in the ninth. Unfounded
