  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 09:46 AM) The Phils would be willing to give up Victorino but I read that the Phils were interested in Matt Holliday and since Victorino is signed for a few more years could be involved in a swap with the Rocks. I think if the Phils had much interest in Dye they wouldn't want to include Victorino. Oh and please we all hate titles that make it seem like the trade occured. I'd love to give you my opinion on Golson however it would be ignorant. Just seems unlikely Dye would end up in the National League. He's a DH waiting to happen as is Korneko and we already have Thome. The Sox need to get rid of 1 possibly 2 of the 3 at least while they still have value. Dye is the most valuable piece but also most likely to stay with the Sox as a future DH. But if we want quality we have to give it up and any good position player IMHO is worth more than a future DH.
  2. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 09:38 AM) Listening to ESPN 1000 this morn and one of the updates said the phillies are interested in JD, no speculation as to who we'd get back so lets start the speculation who do you see us getting back. First id try throwing in whoever to get Victorino, i believe it was levinne that said the phils wouldnt trade him but if we throw in say broadway and maybe another spec i think theyd do it. if not what would you guys think of them giving us a package involving Greg Golson??? who would you want??? The Phils would be willing to give up Victorino but I read that the Phils were interested in Matt Holliday and since Victorino is signed for a few more years could be involved in a swap with the Rocks. I think if the Phils had much interest in Dye they wouldn't want to include Victorino. Oh and please we all hate titles that make it seem like the trade occured.
  3. KW will be very active IF he can find some takers for his high priced vets and get a boatload of talent for Bobby Jenks. I've read the Sox want Dye at DH . That could mean somehow getting out from under the Thome contract if that is even possible. That contract is the noose strangling trade possibilities and free agent signings. There are always decent outfielders available, examples being Ryan Ludwick and Rick Ankiel. I know Vazquez is the center of trade rumors but would that really be the 1st move KW makes creating 2 holes in the starting pitching ? Don't look for any signature move too soon most free agents will be signed by Jan. 1st to avoid the expected Obama tax hike on people with high salaries. Konerko might be an option for teams who lose in the Texeira sweepstakes. IF Getz and Fields start the season at 2nd and 3rd I'd be shocked. If that happens then KW would have failed in every A-Z plan he tried to make and believe me he will be out there wheeling and hopefully dealing.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 04:07 AM) I'm gonna be in Lake Havasu City for 10 days in November. Would that be near anywhere where they play AFL games? Thats where my ex lives and I don't think it's near anything, it's a tree-less barren wasteland . But it is filled with drunken trailer trash during spring break.
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) yay, oc's last ab! Hey we could come back and go extras !
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) Belfour coming in. ED ????
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 05:12 PM) did anything give you more confidence, than down 1-0, during the interview with Don Cooper, everyone was throwing cups and seeds all over him? The pigeon did !
  8. What really sucks is that I get home from work and can watch the Cubs game and tommorrow I'll be at work missing the Sox game. Probably won't even know the outcome till around 6:15 PM (CST) get online and look for a winner or loser thread.
  9. I feel really bad for the Cubs ..... NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. QUOTE (almagest @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 10:41 AM) The Gomez triple that went off Wise's glove, and the double last night by Cuddyer on almost the same ball that Delmon Young was able to cut off told me all I need to know about Wise's defense. I'm not going to defend Wise' defense but to compare what Delmon Young did on the Dye hit and what Wise' did on the Cuddyer hit is ludicrous. Do they have the same speed ( the hit ball and the outfielders)? Were both outfielders in the exact same spot when the ball was 1st struck ? Did the ball roll in the exact same line of travel ? Did both balls have the exact same spin ? Unless you can answer yes to those questions you can't compare why Young got to the ball and held Dye to a single and why Wise couldn't cut off the ball and Cuddyer got a double.
  11. QUOTE (mreye @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 05:59 AM) I rarely start threads, so if this has been said, screw off! I am so proud of the fans last night. The "blackout" was outstanding and should become an every game thing - like a college atmosphere. I absolutely love a crowd that gets going every time there's two strikes and they didn't disappoint last night! Did anyone else notice what was supposed to be on Comcast during the Sox postgame? A: The Cubs Rally replay. I had a good laugh at that. How many freaking Viagra commercials do they have to play? I think I was singing that damned song in my sleep last night! Yes I noticed that and also noticed the TBS post game was sponsored by Captain Morgan. I mentioned both in the Winners thread.
  12. I think its time to release The Awesome on the Tampa Bay Rays (see March 22 cartoon).
  13. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 02:22 AM) Joe Mauer, "He had a lot of things going right for him tonight, you know. I know me, personally, he made some great pitches on me, I couldn't really figure him out." When Mauer can't figure you out, you know you've turned to the next page in your career, just my opinion And for those asking why he bunted , see above.
  14. If you have never seen the artistry of Carl Skanberg it's high time you did. http://palehose8.blogspot.com/
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 12:23 AM) I know I will probalby be mad if we tank but I think anybody who truly gets upset at the team or Oz or KW for anything that happens from this point forward is simply an idiot. This is all gravy, folks. Tampa has a better team than we do. We're the underdog. Yes I badly want to win, and I'm sure I will be pissed at certain players if they stink in this round and hopefully the ALCS, but this team already has proven a lot to me for winning those 3 elimination games and getting in. Do you agree with me you'd have to be a real mope being really mad at the Sox for anything that happens the rest of the way this season? Thanx Sox and play with the house's money. Relax and kick ass. You got nothing to lose. I'd hate to think about if we lost 1-0. Lack of heart and guts is often tied to no offense. We blame it all on the hitters and refuse to give the other team credit. Right now it's easy to say we have guts because we won. If we had lost does 1 game really make a difference when talking about how hard a team tries but ends up falling short ?
  16. Uptown's got its hustlers Bowery's got its bums 35th street got a Big Jim Thome He's a home run hittin' son of a gun. Apologies to Jim Croce.
  17. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) The experts at BBTN just unanimously picked the Rays in this series. They couldn't pick a winner with just 2 teams going tonight . Well Kruk picked us that's about it.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) Who will we see in Game 3? Garza or Sonnanstine? Most likely Sonnanstine doesn't make the playoff rotation so probably Garza. Interesting contrast of pitchers in Game 1 Shields vs. Vazquez. They call Shields "Big Game" James and we all know what they say about Javy in big games.
  19. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) There was no hostility in my teasing and I didn't throw anything at them. Just a simple "bye bye go home!!!" I've been a visitor at other parks a few times myself so I know how it feels. When I read this thread I was mad cause I could relate to his story although it was no where near as bad. It could have been though. Dodger fans were real pricks. I know about Dodgers fans too. A few years ago I got my 2 kids and my Dad who came for a visit and we all went to a Dodgers/Sox game at Dodger Stadium. 3 generations of my family. I spent big on good seats and some a-holes behind us are throwing peanuts at us. I mean I'm with my kids and my dad and he was probably about 70 at the time. Every time I turn around everyone acts all innocent but I had a pretty good idea who it was. Cowards doing that to a family and all we did was root for our team nothing outlandish. Can't make a scene because you got a family to protect and your head tells you that you're seriously outnumbered.
  20. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) hey calisoxfan, where in Cali are you? My signature must be blacked out . I'm in Altadena just north of Pasadena
