There are 24 other teams who would love to be a bad team like us if we make the playoffs. Are you sure you're a Sox fan ? You sound like a Cub fan (maybe they fit your definition of a good team) who cannot argue his point without degrading the person that would dare choose to have an opinion opposite of theirs , that I always see where Cubs fans argue with Sox fans. I'm not even defending Ozzie so much as I am opposing how you present your argument. Its extremely arrogant when you present your opinion as fact and common knowledge. You sound like your girlfriend just broke up with you who probably found your superior attitude just as smug as I do. There are plenty of knowledgeable Sox fans who agree with you that Ozzie isn't much of an in-game manager however they have the people skills to avoid sounding like a jackass.

QUOTE (Disco72 @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 10:55 AM) I have yet to see a single FACT supporting your opinion that Ozzie is a bad game manager. Others clearly disagree with you, it is getting tiresome seeing you attack other posters for trying to have a conversation on the issue with you when you see your opinion as fact. Thank you. Personal attacks are not necessary. Setting yourself up as this Master of Logic and all who oppose you are clearly delusional ,misguided, and illogical doesn't help your credibility.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) Thanks for the link(never heard of that site) but I am looking to buy them from the Sox. I am a season ticket holder with playoff seats, but need 1 more ticket. Your welcome but don't season ticket holders have a rep? Why not just call your rep ? 1 ticket is always a b**** to find.

Anderson back in 09 or traded?

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 09:38 AM) Just what we need. Another sub-.300 OBP in the lineup. I'm not going to say Anderson is ever going to amount to be anything special however I will not dismiss the chance that he will improve. Plenty of ballplayers had unproductive early years and thats especially true in baseball. We all know the Sox are not getting any younger. It's a minor miracle that KW came up with young productive pieces like Q, Alexei, Danks and Floyd for practically nothing. Can the Sox afford to give up on another young outfielder with potential ? Youth, defense and health are BA's attributes and the Sox need all 3. He's been a valuable bench player this year. I'm hoping he can be even more valuable in the future. -
Pretty funny.

I think it's worth a shot. I'd change things a little based on matchups such as Dye 4th ,Thome 5th against lefties. Move Alexei up vs lefties and AJ down.I don't know about Wise against lefties either but I haven't looked at the splits. Hard to say Swish would be better. I'd also have Anderson higher in the lineup vs lefties probably 7th behind Alexei.

I'll go along with the many who have voted with their heart instead of their head. 2

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 10:13 PM) Dude, I'm not going as far as to say who would be a better manager or that firing Guillen would be the ultimate solution (honestly it wouldn't). I'm just saying he's a bad manager that does NOT put his team in the best position to win. THAT'S ALL. It would just be nice of people like yourself could just admit that simple truth, that's all. What reason is there to defend him and try to pout about people attacking him? He's a bad in-game manager with little know-how, plain and simple. And as far as his motivational abilities, that's fine and dandy, and that's one thing I LIKE about Ozzie, but what good has it done? How good have the Sox looked since 2005 ended? Ask yourself that question. The actual BASEBALL MANAGING ABILITIES need to be there. They are absent from Ozzie. It's a simple FACT, so why all the defense? I'm not looking to crucify the man, I just don't get why there are still people out there who deny his incompetence [sarcasm] Ah, yes. I forgot... with those circumstances, a manager clearly can't mistakes. [/sarcasm] More denial. And did I say anything about compensation? Did I say Ozzie being better would make the team better? No, but it would result in a LOT LESS mistakes and a LOT MORE opportunities for the Sox to win. We don't have much of that with Ozzie because he has no idea how to manage a team. Man, you guys can't read between the lines. I guess that's why you defend Ozzie... lack of logic. What exactly am I denying ? By your logic with everything but the starting pitching being lousy shouldn't the Sox be in last place ? I really don't understand why you're so outspoken in your hatred of Ozzie's managing. Clearly a manager who doesn't put his team in the best position to win combined with all the other ills that you mention would produce a very very bad team. We're in a decent position to win the division. Have you no grasp of White Sox history ? We don't win much very often and if you have suffered like a lot of White Sox fans have suffered with this team over many years you count your blessings that we're in the position we're in now and don't dissect everything wrong with this team. There is no such thing as a perfect player, a perfect manager. So why torture yourself ? You don't have the answers . All you're doing is spitting into the wind. What's so logical about that ?

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) If the Sox blow the Division and playoff spot this year, I not only blame the offense, the defense and the bullpen, but I also blame Jeff Cox and especially Ozzie Guillen. His incompetence as a manager becomes more magnified every year, and down the stretch this year he has been a joke. It's almost as if he wants this team to lose. The only thing you didn't blame was the starting pitching. So tell me how Ozzie managing like a genious is going to compensate for a bad offense, defense, coaching and bullpen ?

Ok lets get go offense. Is a 2 game winning streak against the Royals asking too much ? -
A win like this looks so good. Dotel and Linebrink pitched well . Swish looked good and so did Wise. If the injury to Quentin a has bright side its that Ozzie hopefully has learned that using Wise and Anderson for pinch hitting duties wouldn't be such a bad thing as the season winds down and the post season beckons.

Your first place Chicago White Sox!

Sox beat Royals ending their 7 game winning streak. Dwayne Wise hits 2 HR's , Alexei Ramirez hit his 3rd Grand Slam of the season making it only the 2nd time in baseball history a rookie has done that. Jim Thome hit the 540th of his career. The Twinkies lose 11-1 to Tampa Bay so the Sox now lead the division by 2.5 games with an 85-68 record. Magic # 7. Mark Buehrle pitched 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits , K's 2 , 1 BB . He improved to 3-1 lifetime when pitching on short rest. Buehrle is now the only active pitcher to record 10 wins, 30 starts and 200 innings in eight consecutive seasons. -
7 is the lucky number for the night . Ending the Royals 7 game winning streak while reducing our magic number to 7. Plus D. Wise number (31) - Alexei Ramirez number(10) = 21 divided by 7 =3 which is the combined number of HR's Wise and Ramirez combined to hit today.

OK Linebrink show me something . Getting you back on track would be sooooo helpful.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) Even though Alexei might be losing the Rookie of the Year as we speak, I'll take it. Thanks for bailing out C-Pena Evan Longoria!!! Looks like Perkins might be shaken up a little bit. I'd gladly take Longoria winning ROY if he can hurt the Twins real bad. -
