There was just as much reason to question Burger playing 3rd base and I didn't see a lot of that going on or at least not even close to the same amount as Sheets. Burger and Sheets have all the RBI's this game and Burger made the error that led to only 1 of the 3 Baltimore runs being earned so we're about at where we were when the game started. Still too early to pull either one so hopefully they both contribute more offensively as well as the other sleeping members of the offense or else the rest of this game won't be pretty.

Not sure what you mean by Little Richard part of it. I'm just a White Sox fan who doesn't over react and actually knows that it's easy to over react to Sheets OF defense and forget or never even think there are other reasons to play someone other than that he fell down in the OF which doesn't only happen to big slow guys playing out of position in the OF. Balls move twist, knuckle , get affected by wind and spin. Plenty of good OF's get turned around and misjudge FB's.

Haseley Up, Alberto to IL, Solak DFA

LOL It didn't originate here. and it sure looks like he did not enjoy something and it also was unclear if that was pain or just a typical reaction to ice dousing. Throw in the Beni not playing. Seems like just normal speculation to me. It's not like we haven't had our players hurt and other players from multiple organization hurt during celebrations. -
Look at the guys faces in front of Beni after he yelled f***. They seemed concerned .Highly doubtful Beni got pissed because of a little cold water after a win. Could be he's just reacting to the coldness but I think he got hit with the jug either in the head , neck, or back or several places. . That thing could weigh 40 lbs and Vaughn was starting to let it fall to empty it when it hit him. Maybe he is just a little gimpy already and this was just the "Icing" or "backbreaker" that led to time off.

Andrew did look either hurt or pissed off and looks like he's saying FUUUCK ! Might've hit Beni in the head. -
Might be out of necessity . However he did hit .500 last year against the Orioles both at home and on the road going 13/26. Orioles might be the only team he did this against since he was so bad against most any team on the road. In the ultra small 4 game sample at home this year he is 2/6 with 3 walks .333 BA .556 OBP. He also had a .908 OPS at home last year. The starting pitcher is RH so there's that too. Hoping for his 1st HR of the year and maybe a walk or another hit also and that his defense isn't too costly.

People always say that but never say how predictable it was until after the fact. Put your ass on the line and predict what will happen ahead of time. -
Jesse Rogers: Sox Sign Benintendi - 5yr / $75M

The fan base continues to clamor for Free Agents when we know damn well the Sox shop in the vintage or refurbished section . If you happen to suggest youth a lot of the fans moan about playing too many rookies or that they might not be ranked. Funny thing is most of those fans have been clinging to the concept of the "window" still being cracked open. The gems are out there but the fans respond with "he sucks" or "never heard of him". If you're going to shop for youth or gems you have to find the guys who can play defense ,have some speed or power and their paths to the majors are either blocked or took a circuitous route and find guys who seem to have made changes that enhanced their previous lower draft value to a higher plane. You also need the development people to actually know what they are doing. I'm highly dubious of that last part when you can't seem to get very many to elevate the ball or the take a power hitter and try to make him a singles hitter. I'd rather stress the importance of thinking baseball things such as plate discipline knowing what pitches to expect in certain counts, a 2 strike approach rather than a 2 strike approach on every pitch.Take more pitches and know your strengths instead of trying to create new strengths that take away from your natural strengths. Someone like Kelenic was a perfect example of a failed high draft pick who was still young who might've been out there for a reduced price. -
Hahn's Free Agent Balance Sheet...
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to Lip Man 1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think there would be plenty of GM's with more money lost because those big deals often don't give you a high yield over the course of a long contract. But the point is often to get high yield in the early years and middle years of those mega deals and accept the losses on the back end. Hahn doesn't do big money deals so he might not lose as much money but he also isn't getting high yield early ROI to offset the back end losses in his multiyear deals. In other words the Sox sign guys to less years and less money because his FA signings are either older or not top end type players thus making early high yield ROI hit and miss and it often has been miss and the end of deal ROI turns sours. As the article stated it's youth that gives you a return on investment when they are payed low and produce. But when you also can't draft and develop or trade it away there's nothing left to give you positive results. Tampa Bay has been the master at this. Reinsdorf on the other hand has never realized that youth (scouting, drafting, developing) is the lifeblood of any franchise instead of paying MOR prices with diminishing returns again and again. 2005 was a year where all the small investments paid off big for a lot of guys who had mediocre careers but for one year a lot them had really good years. It's basically why the team is always mired in mediocrity. You get what you pay for and when you don't invest in potential . -

4D chess. just making sure the bad pitchers don't stick around by pitching them. Sacrificing today's loses for tomorrows wins .
