  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) I know, I know... I'll work on it tonight. Every bio doesn't have to be a masterpiece. Just gitter done. I'm getting impatient for the top 13 when so little of interest is being posted.
  2. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:52 PM) Based on the fact that Thome, Konerko, Dye and Cabrerra can be blasted on this board and all have out produced Nick Swisher this year and in their career. Yet everyone loves Nick Swisher. What exactly has he done this year other than sing and dance and get Hawk all giddy when he does have nice day. He sings too ? What a guy !
  3. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:27 PM) A plea for perspective: The Blue Jays are scorching hot and Burnett seemed (I couldn't watch) plain, flat nasty. This was one of the 60. Let's hope Richard and the offense man up tonight. You don't have to plea. I love the season the Sox are having. We have a chance to make the playoffs. Can't say that 80% of the time.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:26 PM) Jphat knows I agree with him that we're just not a WS contender without Quentin. However, I will cringe if I hear Hawk and DJ say that this could easily be the 3rd World Series title for Ozzie if not for the injuries to Maggs, Frank, and now Quentin. With or without him we're in a good position to win the division. Most of us thought we aren't WS contender even with Quentin. Pitching , defense and timely hitting goes a long way. All we needed was a double in a key situation like Overbay got. We have plenty of hitters who are capable . Doesn't even have to be a hitter who steps up. If Richard pitches a good 2nd game we split.
  5. One more thing, I don't like the fact that Alexei was bunting, but maybe OZ was auditioning Alexei for the 2 hole with that call. Too bad he failed miserably.
  6. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:23 PM) We knew it was going to be tough without Q. Just gotta hope the guys can step up on offense, but its just gonna be tough down the stretch. Frankly I don't even want to hear anything about Q. He's not here. No excuses. Step up or step aside.
  7. When a guy is wild like Ryan was , you just can't automatically call for a bunt especially with one of our best clutch hitters up and having the lefty / righty matchup also. Got to remember that if a pitcher is wild , not only is he throwing balls but even balls in the strike zone might not be just where he wants them to be. If he grooves one that plays right into Ramirez' strength.
  8. Just sad that Ozzie is too stubborn to stop calling for the bunt.
  9. Ok ALexei no swinging for the fences look at strike 1 then go up the middle or right side.
  10. I was eating lunch but I got back into the thread just to see the reactions to AJ's bunt . Priceless. Crap I can't beleive they turned that DP on a slow roller. Did Thome walk to 1st ?
  11. They need to stop showing the "it's amazing what a bunt can do" commercial.
  12. McD that bastard purposely knelt on Alexei's legs after seeing the ball go into center.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) Gotcha, thanks. I think it's time to move Alexei into the 2nd spot and hope he can get hot and generate offense. Coming around to my way of thinking. AJ or Alexei both don't walk so Alexei hits for a higher average and is faster and a better bunter.
  14. Theres' AJ bunting into a force out again, now the speed is off the bases.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) bah, weak. They better come back in the second game, i'll be there. With all our home wins and only a 2 run deficit why give up so easily ?
  16. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) This is what has seperated Javy from being good and not great in his career. Most great pitchers lost plenty of 1-0, 2-1 games.
  17. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) Prospects are cool, having a lot of them is nice. Ones taht are achieving is even better. But after four decades of following baseball, I have a hard time getting excited for anyone not on the 40 man, and truthfully, the 25 man is where it is at for me. I prefer to not be attached so after they have spent four years working their way up the system and are traded for a three month rent a player, I'm never too upset. Which interests me, more people would be upset with say a Josh Fields leaving then a Paul Konerko. Love that cheap potential. And Go GF. That is great for their community. I could have wrote exactly what you did. After all as a little kid you follow your favorite team and really don't know a damn thing about the minors and that's pretty much the way I've kept it . However just following the Sox closely ,as an adult, you always know the best prospects in AA and AAA.
  18. Just goes to show that pitching is more important than hitting.
  19. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 11:29 AM) I'd guess that Jenks and Thorton are the only two definitely not available... I wouldn't count on McDougal either.
