  1. QUOTE (oralsoxpodcast @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 10:59 PM) Lets win FOUR in MD. I meant 2 on Monday but anyway I went to your website and saw the AJ parody and listened to your Sox report. I'll check your site out more after work today. Keep up the good work.
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) Twinkies lose to Angels 5-3. We need to keep rolling. Hope today was a momentum turner Your post looked lonely all by itself so yea let's build some mo and win 2 in MD.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 07:59 PM) I have tickets to tomorrow's game at Camden Yards. Anybody know how this works? Should I show up at 7:05 PM as if it were a regular game or should I get there early? Early and bring us back 2 W's.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) lol@Pods making it. He's one of the most disrespcted and hated on players in the history of Soxtalk. See he made it !
  5. I haven't hear much love for the 83' Winning Ugly team. I guess 25 years ago is a long time for most on here. I'll edit this and amend it to pitchers on the 83'' team that I haven't seen mentioned.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) First place in the AL Central. That will only be a prize when we're in that position and the season is over, but it is a lot better than 2nd.
  7. After today's win and the dogfight to stay ahead in the central, I hope we all now understand that no matter what happens the rest of the way, our chests swell with Sox Pride.
  8. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) Bring up a pitcher and keep Crede on the DL. Uribe is playing better than Crede at third right now and the Sox bullpen is wearing a little thin. No rush to get Crede back. Alexei played 3rd after Konerko pinch hit for Uribe today . He made a nice play ranging far to his left , picked the ball in front of Cabrera and fired a strike to first . Made it look routine.
  9. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) 0.5 games ahead of the twins, but more importantly 1 game in the loss column i cant believe we lose 2/3 to the rays, twins split with the angels and the twins get the consolation prize of: nothing. lol Did we get a prize ?
  10. Punta leads off the 9th with a single steals 2nd to stay out of Dp . Now K-rod K's Buscher. 1 out.
  11. 4-3 Angels. Matthews, Jr. drives home Vladdy with a triple !
  12. Vladdy just hit a triple to dead center to tie the game with Twinkies.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 01:27 PM) Upton caught a fly ball in CF that Aj tagged on and moved into second base. If Upton had fielded it normally AJ doesnt get to second and they turn a double play on the next at bat. Instead the crazy run down happen, AJ gets on third and Sox win. That's debatable . He ran the ball down in the right center gap and he did make the mistake of thinking AJ wouldn't tag and trotting further into the gap once he caught it . If he fields it normally he's still got some momentum carrying him into the left center gap. AJ might've tagged anyway. 3-2 Twins now heading to the 8th.
  14. Needed a little help from the umps but got it done. TB was 68-0 leading after 8. MN 64-0 leading after 8 , currently ahead of Angels 3-1 in the 7th where the Angels are 14-3 and 11 straight in day home games. Angels trying to rally now.
  15. Didn't see the game because of work but read the sad story. Not only have the Sox lost 2 at home so far to a hot Rays team but the Twins decide to play well on the road against an Angels team that is slumping a bit. I've been around Sox fans long enough to know that we're afraid we're losing our grip on 1st place for good. Little by little the lead shrunk and now the Twins have overtaken the lead playing decent ball on the road against an Angels team that suddenly got cold . We see our playoffs chances fading away. Really hard at this point not to give in to the hopelessness. The Twins road trip was supposed to give the Sox breathing room to extent the lead . Most of us would like a 3-5 game lead heading into the series at MN but it sure looks like that won't be the case.
  16. I'd like to see some stats on how Thornton does when pitching on consecutive days. My mind tells me that on the second day in a row of pitching he's not nearly as effective.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) Who the hell is Larry Monroe? http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/team/e...nroe_larry.html
  18. QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 09:24 AM) JMO, but I don't see how stealing a base and scoring a run in the WS makes one a Top 25 favorite of all time. Sadly, I get the feeling that Greg Luzinski, Ivan Calderon, Tim Raines, and Lance Johnson won't be represented in the Top 20. Raines # 20.
  19. QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 07:50 AM) The Dotel Cinderella Story ended last night. I figured that his career numbers and lack of raw stuff catch up with him at some point, and he magically morphed back into a pumpkin in the 8th inning. Dotel had an outstanding April and May, and has had his share of moments since... but his numbers have steadily trended downward since. He just can't be trusted to hold leads right now. When he has a bad outing, he either turns a small lead into a two-run deficit or completely takes us out of a games that are within reach. I pray that Linebrink is able to return soon, as I have no idea who in the heck would be a better 7th or 8th inning option right now. Lack of raw stuff is not Dotel's problem. When ever you have a lot more K's than innings pitched like Dotel , you got good stuff. It's just location location location.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) I realize Dotel has been very good in some games. But are you aware we haven't reached the postseason since acquiring these former Royals pitchers including our new reliever to go with MacStiff? Hope they aren't a jinx. Look up Royals in the dictionary and you see the word "loser." The Sox never reach the post season without at least 5- 10 years between appearances . If they make it this year it will be the 1st time ,since they started a playoff system, that they've made 2 appearances in less then a 5 year span. So there's no Royals reliever jinx.
  21. I remember Bo catching a fly ball on the dead run in deep left field and running up to near the top of the padded wall like it was nothing .
  22. Wasted opportunities early ,bullpen implodes . 9-4 Rays, Twins leading 8-0 back , Sox in second place for a day.
