QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 2, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) I changed it. The first address http://www.sapientweb.com/help/ wasn't as noticeable and it wasn't just the picture. When peeps panties started riding up, I switched it. That was chaotic uncontrolled. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 1, 2008 -> 12:40 PM) I seem to recall arguing with you about this in the offseason. It's good to see we agree on the future of 3B at the very least. Hmmm I don't recall that but it's been so long since the search function worked that I can't even look it up. We agree more than you would think. You're a knowledgeable guy and passionate about the Sox . -
Would A Change at the Top Benefit the White Sox

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 08:21 AM) I think the Sox should trade Fields and Broadway for Roberts and suck up the cash and work a deal with Crede. Then move Quintin to the two spot and bat Cabrerra 9th until he shows he is the hitter he has been and hit Swisher 3rd. The inconsistency of the middle of this order has been there for two years and I am not certain it will magically reappear. There are way to many at-bats simply given away every night by many hitters in the line-up. Its pretty obvious to everyone in the Sox org. that Crede will be a free agent. Thats what Boras does with his clients. I've seen " trade Fields" so may times its ridiculous. I'm not even that high on the guy. He's K-ing at an alarming rate in the minors and avg at best defensively but we will need him next year . -

QUOTE (almagest @ May 1, 2008 -> 07:03 AM) We also don't have to worry about seeing Luis Tererro, Andy Gonzalez, or Alex Cintron either. Pablo's back, Crede's back and playing alright, Thome's not hurt, and Dye has no lingering injury concerns. We've also scored a ton of runs this year, and really only started to tail off within the past 5 or 6 games. Out of 162. Yes, I am a little worried, and yes, it's disgusting watching the "offense" lately, but anyone up in arms about this team's offense needs to take it easy. Actually the Sox are 9-10 since they won 5 in a row. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 1, 2008 -> 07:41 AM) He apparently said something like that yeah, I didn't hear it. But my assumption is that someone is going to the DL or going to AAA from the pitching staff. Though I have no idea who that would be. Its also possible that someone will be traded or released. I just think that carrying 13 pitchers and only Hall, Ozuna and Anderson on the bench, is a bit dangerous. That does leave the bench thin especially with Konerko hurting. Maybe Pk will be DL'ed . Maybe Reinsdorf wasn't talking about a pitcher to take Masset's place temporarily for the Toronto series. Might be more than one move coming.

QUOTE (scenario @ May 1, 2008 -> 06:54 AM) Exactly. Whoever is being brought up is probably only here until Tuesday, not long term. Given that... it makes more sense to bring up a pitcher since our long reliever is coming off a spot start and may have limited availability the next few days. I'd guess Broadway will get a few days in Canada and then be sent back to Charlotte. I'm not sure it'll be Broadway. He pitched 8 innings 4/29. Whisler pitched 7 inn. 4/30. Russell's been in 9 games and pitched 11 innings so doesnt appear to be a long man. Toma Ohka has been starting. Last started 4/26 and had a solid outing and has ML experience so who knows.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 1, 2008 -> 06:37 AM) How much you willing to bet? I was thinking the same thing. 1.5 game lead, 3 days 1st day is an off day so we'd have to lose the 1st 2 games against the BJ's while Twinkies win the next 2. I like the odds but now I'm sure the other guy doesnt since I opened my yap. -
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 1, 2008 -> 06:40 AM) With Konerko having a bum hand for over a week. And before we say, well rest will fix it. He had rest, with off days and such and it didnt heal right away. I would rather have Fields or Owens called up just to have another bat. We dont need another bullpen arm. How many freakin pitchers do we need. Pitching is not the issue, its hitting. But it's just to cover our asses during the Toronto series if we need a long man. It's not supposed to be permanent at least not at this point.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 1, 2008 -> 06:04 AM) If the offense continues to be this weak, then yeah, they aren't long for first. But that's the question - when will it pick up? I think it definitely will, I just have no idea when. When Ozzie puts Quentin 3rd against lefties and 5th against righties, 4th with PK out of the lineup. Hell or even 4th with him in the lineup. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 1, 2008 -> 06:02 AM) I have to imagine that means we are sending down a pitcher. But who? Masset has no options left, so the only option with him is a release or waivers, and I'd think he would never make it through waivers. He wasn't horrible yesterday, though he had some control issues. The hits against him were mostly dinks, except for Morneau's backbreaker, which was on a shoulder-high pitch. Did you forget Ramirez visa problems? If a pitcher is called up he will temporarily take AR's spot not another pitchers. With Masset having pitched 4 innings against Minny we might need a long man against Toronto. Whisler just started so it has to be someone who's rested.

Fields pulled from Charlotte's game

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) I would love to see Fields on this team on the bench if he could play LF, RF, and 1B too...you could get him 4-5 games a week if that were the case. You envision him playing against every lefty at DH, so that's about 1-2 games a week and then you have him play a game or two a week at 3B. If he knew LF, RF, and 1B, you could substitute him variably throughout the course of the season and he'd be getting pretty solid playing time The problem, of course, is that he can't play LF, RF, and 1B, so this post is pretty much pointless. It's not completely pointless. Rest Joe when it's artificial turf and Thome against lefties. And I think any 3rd baseman can play 1st. It's not a huge adjustment. Remember Ozzie put Dye at 1st was it last year ? On a side note I see Owens hit a double and a HR and upped his BA to .306 and OBP to .403 while Wes Whisler is now 5-0 with a miniscule 1.26 ERA. -

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 08:20 PM) I think Masset did ok. He kept us in the game. It was winnable, just didn't happen. For a spot start he did an alright job. Completely off topic but I have the most pristine ZepII album thats in your sig that you'll ever see. -

CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I actually think Ramirez' visa problem is the perfect time to tweak things. Ozzie needs to move Thome down against lefties and occasionally sit him . I recommend Quentin batting 3rd against lefties and no lower then 6th against righties. Crede should also move up against lefties. Send Ramirez down and when you do sit Thome play Fields. Sometimes things need to be shaken up to let the players know failure is not acceptable even on a team full of veterans. -
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) Sweeney with a 2 RBI single. 10-2 Oakland. Beat you to it
-
Sweeney with a 2 rbi single against Bootcheck. 10-2 A's.
-
Frank just got a gapper against Garland in the 7th for a double . Took Garland out after that and pinch ran for Frank so no chance to get the HR and finish the Cycle.
-
Frank broken bat single against Garland and another rbi. 5-1 Oakland .
-
Garland walks Thomas. Oakland leads 4-1 in the 3rd.
-
Ryan Sweeney just lined out to 2nd.
-
Frank Thomas just reached out for a pitch against Jon Garland and hit a fly ball down the right field line that barely landed fair and barely eluded Vlad Guerreo. Once it got by Vladdy. Frank ended up with an RBI triple. His 1st 3 bagger since 2002.
